    You are right Fertilizer is very expensive. I only cut and bale hay on about 120 acres and take soil samples every year. I always follow the recommendations for applying and my yield is about 40% percent higher than the person that farmed it before me. My hay is also cleaner than before and the horse people almost fight for it, no kidding. This has allowed me to sell it at a higher price than that the scrub cow hay that was produced before. Like you I spend time at night trying to beat the rain. I actually like using the larger spreader buggies because using a whirly bird spreader takes so much longer. Also around here many people use chicken manure and that works good as well. Good luck on this years farming!!!!!!!!!! I also like that new tractor you just got!!!!!

    We’ve done really well with composted manure/hay/wood chips and egg shells here in NH. We put up 700 wrapped rounds this year. Best year ever.

    What do you expect? You know exactly who these big companies are run by, you know why they don't want small farmers, and that if your not poisening your crops, your shut down. Try fixing your equipment and get no setvice, and on and on and on, only one way to stop that, be blessed, when you're blessed, you cannot be cursed. So, Be blessed Lance.
    Could just get out of Babylon and just homestead, grow what you and your neighbors need, and dont worry about the monetary system.
    And do you rent your fields to cattle ranchers to graze cattle on? Not only get a bit of ectra cash flow, add nutrients to the soil to boot, and dont forget to let the fields have their sabbath every 7 yrs. And anointing the corner posts and gateways of the fields are a must.

    Fertilizer helps when grass starts to grow and roots are not so large. There is best time window for most plants when to add fertilizer. Thats why liquid manure is spread when soil is wet and plants have already green growth

    In the NorthEast we use manure from local farmers. Or buy in bulk at Agways or the local Farmers Exchange Market. The more you buy the better the price. We even use pellet stoves and buy in bulk, tonnage. We got together with our local neighbors and where able to negotiate are far better price. The deliver and unload the pallets where you want them.

    Chuckie, I bought a used fertilizer spreader buggy over 10 years ago for my personal use fertilizing my hayfields and I've had none of the problems or issues you just described. In fact, it works very well and broadcasts fertilizer very consistently across the fields for me. It pulls well weather loaded or unloaded and has torsion axles for suspension. I'm not sure where or what type of buggy you have used but it sounds like you had a very poorly made brand or something wasn't right because every buggy I have used was not that bad at all. Adams is the brand I have, it's a great spreader and is nowhere near new. I would guess its probly 20 years old by now and still works great. Rather than going thru all the trouble of putting out fertilizer the way you just did I think I would definitely try another buggy from the fertilizer plant or feed store that sells the fertilizer because the buggy's made now days are much nicer than what I have and should speed up your process enormously. Fertilizing is one of the easiest things I do on my farm, and it should be for you as well.

    Finding hard to buy bulk fertilizer, maybe they are worried about people making ANFO?

    • @artur8403
      @artur8403 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. They plan and order season before. Expensive stuff. Those in warehouses are already sold. They don't keep in stock because of moisture and fire hazard.

      AnFo is ammonium nitrate and fuel oil, in a top secret ratio...
      Not all fertilizer is ammonium nitrate, calcium nitrate is very common.
