The fear in Mansion was what was stopping him from claiming what he wrote because it made him vulnerable and people would know what he dealt with mentally.
Im not sure if this is right, but its interesting how the young man is working at the wealthy peoples home, it looks like its the house of the woman that is struggling. And NF says "you look around alot of these other people you are looking at look like what they have is perfect". Interesting because we know the woman that he is looking at is struggling just the same as him. Material riches does not mean that people have perfect lives
