Nice find with that ring regardless of the chatty detector. I run my Apex wide open all the time. Usually a channel shift makes it quieter. In the worst case I have to switch to single freq. mode and that knocks it out. Otherwise the smaller coil you used might be bad. Merry Christmas, Joey and Keep Digging!

Yeaaa Boyyy! Patience pays and anger strays. Nice find indeed. The fact that dropping it down to 2 tones makes sense and obviously created the sweet spot. I actually use a Gold Kruzer for coins and jewellery with a 9 by 5 GK24 coil using fast mode and never have trouble with EMI. I have had great success with it and is one of my faves. EMI and High soil mineralization .. in 4/5/6 tones - the detector just was sounding too busy and overwhelming... by cutting it to only 2 tones... i gave EMI (1) sound and all other targets (1) different sound that was workable... it worked for me brother!

Dan! OMG man.. This detector STRUGGLED with the EMI man.. Jesus I was honestly going to go home and review the return policy because the NOISE SUCKED! - You heard that garbage EMI!!! I cant detect with this machine when its this sensitive! But I found a ridiculous way buy dropping to just 2 tones!!!! - The EMI would only fire the 1 tone.. and ANY OTHER tone would then POP THROUGH and I was able to hunt through the NOISE! nickel after nickel kept popping out and then HOLY MOTHER!..... 14K and I instantly Knew it immediately!!! It cleaned up so Smooth and the #57 nickel Targed ID.... O man! The ring paid the detector off Dan!!

Congratulations Joey, thats a real nice ring. No feeling is better then finding gold (hope my wife doesn't read this).. It's a pitty the Q20 suffers so much from EMI. I didn't use my Q20 in EMI parks to know it suffers from it or not. It's just a back up detector.. But i can say that my Q30+ is better on EMI then the Q40 , Q60 and Pro. The interface on the Q30 is also different then these detectors.
I wanted the Q30 more than the Q40.. it has a better interface very straight forward.. it didnt offer the wireless.. i just took the deal on my Q40 because of the price $349 - 2 coils and wireless but if the EMI is way better on the Q30+.. I might sell this and down grade
@@VegasDtech You have 2 versions on the Q30. The Q30 without the build in wireless. You can't upgrade later with this one to wireless. The Q30+ has build in wireless and the wireless headphone is included. The Q30+ has also two extra features agaist the Q30.You have tone shift (comes in very handy) and iron volume. The only neative i can say for the Q30 or Q30+ is that when you notch everything out except the (euro)coins, the tones are not good anymore. They sound broken and you can't hunt on the tones alone. You have to use the VDI. But that is in my opinion the only negative. If you discriminate some vdi or discriminate from 0 to 43 were our coins start, the tones are still very good and the recovery stays fast.

Yes I did understand why you cut it to 2 tones . That's how I found that going to 2 tones would help me get thru all the EMI in alot of the areas that I hunt. And that second tone really bangs hard on targets !
No way when you have to have the sensitivity that set that low it is shit to use in that park, BUT out in the wild it might be better than something. For that park that detector is no bueno and there is no getting used to it or dialing it in. This is why so many have so many detectors and when they go out they have 3-6 in the back knowing which to use for the area they hit. Sometimes that changes so then they have to reach for a different one they brought along.
Man I still feel like I wanna send it back! I cant stand chatty detectors and this one is REAL NOISY.. Yes it did find me that ring but ... man I wont use it if It does that noise all the time.. Basically in the city life of 2021/2022 it is crap to use but on a beach, or out at a site so far out in the boonies maybe, but, then again, there are better detectors that can handle both. Either it really is defective or it is just no longer viable in the real world of today to to all the EMI/RFI noise "pollution" we suffer through.

@@VegasDtech Go ahead and do that but Vegas is a HUGE light polluter as well as RFI/EMI polluter so a bit surprised that any detector is not chatty there. Even my noisy/chatty machine found a few things in my yard from 50s-80s, but that doesn't mean I had fun with the machine. Had fun finding what I did though.
Funny how they try to max out the settings only to upset the consumer but we're smart enough to have a personal setting. That's what saved this detector.
For real man! Those personal user banks saved the day because the factory modes were way too sensitive to use around EMI - im so glad i just didnt film myself running over it with my car!
Thats why the instant i pulled it out of the plug "I sensed it" its gotta be real man and brother it sure was (nickel - pulltab) signal and you see a ring.. Probably real gold!

Hey dude, I have the x10 as my backup and I struggle with it as well. Same issues you had with the q40 plus it overloads if you look at it the wrong way. I have found some cool stuff with it though, just not my drink of choice.

@@VegasDtech My main unit is the Simplex, 2021 was my first year at this hobby. Located in Niagara Falls Canada. I would love to try one of the high end Quest units with a larger coil.
In comparison to my Pioneer 101 that thing was quieter than it was. Now you can see why I gave up and that detector is about half as chatty as mine is PLUS that one is digital mine in the old analogue with a needle and round knobs. This is why I wanted a digital one that can eliminate the BS. My hope is Nokta come summer after watching you give a real world video on one because I trust ya, man, over the big channels who will say anything their "providers" tell them to say.
Your Pioneer was Quieter than my Q40????? man this was like The worst "noisy machine" I have ever owned.. I thought this one was defective or broken. I dont recall my last one behaving this badly but then again . EMI and cell phone towers Everywhere now!!.. I cant in good faith recommend this detector because of how WEAK and susceptible it is to EMI - who the heck would want all that noise??

Joe I like your video but try the Vista X by deep tech and their other detectors emi Free and can id trash by backing off the target gets a low tone or you can tap the side 3 o'clock and get the same results and on the legend tabs and rings that have the same number make it a mid tone and the coins and jewelry that doesn't have the same number high tone

Must say, I am a little disappointed in this video, and I really like and appreciate most of your productions. You took the Q40 to a park you repeatedly admit is an EMI nightmare, Which …. “most of my detectors can’t function here!” , and then you moan and groan, …….. “ I will likely never use this detector again, it will just hang on the wall!” ,…… and then you beat on the detector because you took it to an environment, ….. “where most of your detectors struggle as well!”. Come on man, you are better than that! Did you give the Q40 a fair shake,…….. I don’t think so! I would be interested to know your other detectors which struggled at that park, and if they too were condemned to your wall after their trip to a known EMI disaster area. Anyway, apart from this video I appreciate your work, and look forward to more. PS: I have been detecting parks , schools, and old abandoned homes here in Arizona since the early 1970s so I do know all about the frustrations of EMI. I do not own a Q40, but along with my Nox 800, Gold Monster 1000, NM Impact, and NM Simplex +, ….. I do own the Quest Pro, so I am a little familiar with the Quest machines. GOD Bless ! John
John.. The Q40 did perform terrible in EMI ... That was verified.. Worse than my Equinox in the same area. But I showed a work around and in the end I showed it finding a GOLD RING! This video showed a real struggle and a solution ending in a Victory! I dont like detectors that have poor EMI shielding and when i see them perform poorly in EMI I sell them.. "Thats it" - Now The X-terra 705 had the best EMI shielding of all my detectors at that park... guess what? I Sold the X-terra i still OWN AND USE the Q40 and the EQUINOX ... I only own 3 Detectors now, THE LEGEND, EQUINOX600 and the Q40.... Yes i "Moaned" about the EMI in that video - but in the end" It is one of 3 that I decided to keep because I truly like it for its many other Strengths... I am a Supporter of Quest machines. As a matter of fact the CEO of Quest detectors Mr Jason Deng" contacted me in reference to that video.... and stated that the NEW line of detectors will have better shielding .... I heard that the aftermarket coils for the Quest line greatly improve on the EMI issues.

Joe I like your video but try the Vista X by deep tech and their other detectors emi Free and can id trash by backing off the target gets a low tone or you can tap the side 3 o'clock and get the same results and on the legend tabs and rings that have the same number make it a mid tone and the coins and jewelry that doesn't have the same number high tone
My simplex is like that with emi and underground electrical conduit.... have you had the same experience w the simplex?

Must say, I am a little disappointed in this video, and I really like and appreciate most of your productions.
You took the Q40 to a park you repeatedly admit is an EMI nightmare, Which …. “most of my detectors can’t function here!” , and then you moan and groan, …….. “ I will likely never use this detector again, it will just hang on the wall!” ,…… and then you beat on the detector because you took it to an environment, ….. “where most of your detectors struggle as well!”. Come on man, you are better than that! Did you give the Q40 a fair shake,…….. I don’t think so!
I would be interested to know your other detectors which struggled at that park, and if they too were condemned to your wall after their trip to a known EMI disaster area.
Anyway, apart from this video I appreciate your work, and look forward to more.
PS: I have been detecting parks , schools, and old abandoned homes here in Arizona since the early 1970s so I do know all about the frustrations of EMI. I do not own a Q40, but along with my Nox 800, Gold Monster 1000, NM Impact, and NM Simplex +, ….. I do own the Quest Pro, so I am a little familiar with the Quest machines.

John.. The Q40 did perform terrible in EMI ... That was verified.. Worse than my Equinox in the same area. But I showed a work around and in the end I showed it finding a GOLD RING! This video showed a real struggle and a solution ending in a Victory! I dont like detectors that have poor EMI shielding and when i see them perform poorly in EMI I sell them.. "Thats it" - Now The X-terra 705 had the best EMI shielding of all my detectors at that park... guess what? I Sold the X-terra i still OWN AND USE the Q40 and the EQUINOX ... I only own 3 Detectors now, THE LEGEND, EQUINOX600 and the Q40.... Yes i "Moaned" about the EMI in that video - but in the end" It is one of 3 that I decided to keep because I truly like it for its many other Strengths... I am a Supporter of Quest machines. As a matter of fact the CEO of Quest detectors Mr Jason Deng" contacted me in reference to that video.... and stated that the NEW line of detectors will have better shielding ....
