Wow, watching those cherry logs being sawed was so satisfying! The precision and smoothness of the cuts are impressive. It’s clear that there’s so much skill involved in this process. The visit to Uncle Edmond’s place added a nice personal touch-family bonds make everything better! Key takeaway: hard work and family are essential to success
You're exactly right, it never gets old and that's why we keep coming back! Love checking to see how nice the grain is on the next piece. That's a great looking property you guys are working on, i hope "Uncle Edmund" is happy with your work when you're up and running! 😊
I may or may not as old as parts of the mill here; but after 44 yrs walking this earth and now two joint replacements I felt the poor cable today in this one! Thanks Mark, Eddie and all over at the bus barn
That first log. We call that a log within a log. It usually breaks apart when it dries unless u can saw past the problem spot. We started Cherry today too mark. Sawing 6x6. And 3 1/2” cants for pallets
Thank you for sharing what’s going on with uncle Edmonds project looking good I enjoy the sawing every log is different as you open it up full of surprises and challenges
I heard it too...its like driving you don't want to hear 'weird' noises. Good call to start shutting down your blade. I thought something between blade and roller belt
I agree with Walter Waller 9784, after 78 years of walking this earth, I also felt for the cable, I also have three joint replacements. Two hips and a shoulder. God Bless ✌️🇨🇦
That quilted Cherry would be a luthier's dream. You might think about contacting Martin, or Taylor guitars to sell some of that stuff. They pay top dollar for quilted Maple, and Cherry!!!
I like sawing cherry! And there’s a lot to keeping a mill running. Dave and I try to make one thing better every day we say whether it’s organization or a small repair. Be well fellas ❤
a piece of wood against the blade. I love cherry wood for sure. and lord knows we have enough cut all ready. four more large cherry trees dead in the woods now. they can move around on you. I love the logs as live edge. I cut the heals off on the first cuts then flip them 180 and take some sape wood cuts off. that seems to limite the movement when cutting. most of the time. nice looking wood for sure. love the mil.
Yes, I felt much better when you pulled the taper back. I wouldn't be a very good sawyer because I'd want to keep all of those beautiful boards. Originally I thought something was rubbing your fan blade lol. Bill
Half twelve dinner time watching you guys that’s nice cheery boards with some nice grain , uncle Edmond’s place is looking good , after having a week off sciatica is getting better I just don’t think I can do the double shifts anymore to old and medical conditions
😊😊 HI MARK that cable got thin it had a bad spot in it 😮😮/ mark 😊😊 I never get tired of seeing 👀 😊 the red cherry 🍒 😊 or red cedar logs I just don't see it like I use 2 many years ago most of tge old people used red cedar 4 fence post back then U couldnt go 2 the store and get them U had 2 cut your own and dig all the holes w a old hand post hole digger alot of work just by itself 😮😮 OMG 11 14 2O24
It looks like your area in Pennsylvania is a very beautiful place, which reminds me a lot of places in Missouri I have been to. I imagine it becomes a winter wonderland when it snows.
Beautiful cherry, I wish I was closer. When you put cable clamps on, they should all face the same way. And remember the rule, "Never put a saddle on a dead horse"
NICE lumber and the voice was your guilty conciance, or that's what I always got told. And I wished I'd been at Uncle Ed's place. Always loved grubbing stumps. Happy weekend and GBWYall!
Cherry is not like other saw logs for the usual uses. Cherry is most used in cabinets, short pieces. There almost is not a need for 12 foot or 14 foot cherry. It is all going to be cut into little pieces. So, if your saw log has shakes or pith or sapwood,, just cut it into 8 footers, or 4 footers,,all the clear stock. Turn the shakes and knots into firewood. Your first log had lots of well coloured pretty stuff.
@@markgalicic7788 Just today. A bathroom complete remodel, I was installing cherry cabinets (5 of them) And I was wishing the cabinet makers had you for a source. Face frames on the cabinets, and 5 part doors that INCLUDED pith, sapwood, and shakes in the cherry used to make the cabinets. 30 inch long pieces were not straight. Nice cabinets, crappy wood selection.
Some really nice cherry on that in that video mark I didn't see that number one knee moving around so much with the smaller logs not sure if it was loose or not could have been my imagination but I didn't see it moving around so much hope all is well
HI 👋 MARK that's a dial wheel 🛞 on that sawmill on other sawmills they are called lumber gauge wheels 🛞 😉 they let U know what U can saw and what's left on the carriage and the only other big band sawmills use a carriage on them out west U see 👀 them sawing the big timber out furs and red woods 🪵 they aren't here on the east coast of tge USA alot different trees out there they make alot of lumber very quick PDQ 😉 monster trees that reach 2 the sky those old people had 2 use ropes and spring boards 2 climb and 2 cut those trees 🌳 and mark the edger saves U from doing all of those retrims on the sawmill after all U are sawing lumber and U know that there is 3 sawyers at a sawmill the sawyer the man log turner and the man that runs the edger it was true 👍 😉 at the sawmill where dad 👨 worked 💪 many years ago 😉 OMG 11 14 2O24
In watching the edger I was wondering if you’d thought about a belt feed on/off switch on the right side of the feed so you don’t have to walk around the end of the board.
You have a shiny spot on the saw well there’s 2 one where the guide is. What is the other shiny spot is there wood rubbing on it but not enough to heat it up?
@ by the look of it in the video you have a lot of stumps with the root to work with! And with your shop skills I bet you would make a great job of it too!
@ 21:55 good to see the Gnome Bros back together and at work ! ZZ must be a bad influence on the pointy headed one because I think they went on the lamb together ?

I always enjoy the Uncle Edmonds updates. Such a great place for a wood shop. Perfect looking weather too.
thanks Norman.
Thank you for another Great video. Cheers
Those first cuts off the log would make great wild bird nest boxes to place around those trees you have

Still enjoying the video’s Mark after all these years. Take care. B. K.
thanks Brian.
I hope you don't mind some advice. Without ditches, your road will wash out every spring. Beautiful Cherry boards.
I’m glad that you have some really nice logs. That cherry lumber is beautiful! Keep up the good work. 👍
I really like the odd ball grained wood, I find you can make some very amazing looking pieces with wood that has strange looking grain.
yes this was very pretty.
I have learned a lot from you and Eddie
thank you Wilma.
beautiful cherry sawing guys ty
thanks Richard.
" Broken Sawmill " beautiful relaxing music.
thanks.
Beautiful cherry wood! Glad nobody got ingerd during the breakdown, out of all the mills, your my fav!

thanks Alex , just slow it down for a while hope you get better soon.
Enjoying the cherry series. Heck, the way you are working Uncle Edmund's you could almost make it into a park or campground. It looks that nice to me.
thanks Anthony , it is looking like a park for sure.
GOOD MORNING ☀️
HAPPY WEEKEND 💪

Great video mark 🙏👍🏻
thanks Barry.
I really enjoyed those logs you never know how it will open up and what shows its defects
thanks CJ
Another nice load of lumber for a happy customer 👍👍👍
for sure.
I still think that logs like that first one would make great turning blanks
not very stable.
That cherry is looking really good, beautiful. Wish I had some of that here in Arizona.
thanks Jim.
It looks like your area in Pennsylvania is a very beautiful place, which reminds me a lot of places in Missouri I have been to. I imagine it becomes a winter wonderland when it snows.
thanks , it sure is pretty when it snows.
That one log looks like it is curly cherry, beautiful grain
it was beautiful , I haven't sawed many of these before.
It was your winning lottery ticket getting chewed up in the fan, no retirement to the Bahamas for you Mark!
you got it lol!
Oil or grease that cable and the pulley, unless it attracts the sawdust.
Good video,,,,sometimes you just have to dawn your mechanic hat. Very well rewarded with some nice cherry boards!
thanks Steve.
Beautiful cherry, I wish I was closer. When you put cable clamps on, they should all face the same way. And remember the rule, "Never put a saddle on a dead horse"

Be nice If you could run the slabs and shims though the wood chipper and sell bags of chips for BBQ smokers .. here a 1# bag in store is almost 10$
you would need to dry the chips first.
on the broken cable if you all use a bigger pully 3-5 inch there will be less flex on the cable and that should extend the life quite a bit
great idea.
Some really nice cherry on that in that video mark I didn't see that number one knee moving around so much with the smaller logs not sure if it was loose or not could have been my imagination but I didn't see it moving around so much hope all is well
thanks Joe , not sure what you saw moving around.
🌷
thanks.
The fan in your cab.
not it
Those are amazing, I bet you enjoyed cutting those Mark 😂
thanks Skender , I sure did.
Good afternoon
Hello Rob.
Man, that log (@ 13:00) is crazy looking! Like a tree in a tree.. 😮
that's what they call it , it dies inside.
@@markgalicic7788interesting.. and very unique..
... Happy Beaver Moon ..!
thanks lol.
noise in the cab - a 25 pound cricket.
Beautiful cherry wood. Im from the warren pa area. Namely Sugar Grove , Pa.
thanks Floyd , we are next to the airport the town of Imperial.
I have heard of it. I love that area . My brother is in Erie, Pa.
What do you do with the 4x4 cherry??

I wish I had some to turn into bowls!!
Good video Bus Motor Productions.

nice lumber today, probably your heater fan
thanks Bruce , not it.
VERY GOOD VERY WORKS FRON BRASIL
thanks Jacir.
Rechargeable drill or impact.....stepped on it.
yes it was , it just fell over and hit the trigger lol.
It was a drill or a fan or a saw of some kind
Does the sap wood on that cherry board mess up your F&S quality ranking of the board ??
no it doesn't
Your pencil sharpener for figuring board feet was going crazy.
good one lol.
In watching the edger I was wondering if you’d thought about a belt feed on/off switch on the right side of the feed so you don’t have to walk around the end of the board.
it's a hydraulic valve .
Uncle Edmond is gonna love it. Is he going to move next year sometime?
thanks Shannon , we hope so!
sounded like something fell into your fan/blades.
Your woodlot looks good. Tell us when you are milling your uncles logs.
thanks Brent I sure will.
You have a shiny spot on the saw well there’s 2 one where the guide is. What is the other shiny spot is there wood rubbing on it but not enough to heat it up?
it had a wet splinter get stuck in it and cleaned up the blade lol.
Sounded like something in that little 6" fan you have.
not it.
I’ll bet you had beans for dinner. That was the noise.
good one lol.
Eddie gets so many washes from his shirt he'll probably lose his shirt to a Christmas shopper. Nice cherry lumber and fix on the cable.
thank you.
Your beer fell over!
not good to waste beer lol.
Something hitting up in your heater fan in the cab .
not it.
What are you doing exactly up at uncle Edmund's?
helping him build his workshop.
The noise was zz s baseball card hitting the spokes on his bicycle as he roled up to help out lol.
close lol.
Sounds kind of like a fan bearing, or something in the fan?
not it.
Mark if I hold my finger at the bottom of your video it runs 2x faster. It's really funny when you talk.
I like it lol!
Was wondering how much you guys would charge for 1000 board feet of the cherry?
can you email me at markgalicic@verizon.net
You might be able to sell the pith in 8/4 x 6" planks graded as common for more than 4x4's as dunnage, don't you think?
true but we need the dunnage.
Hi,gentlemen. Question for you.A healthy supply of deer and black bear in this area?
lots of deer and a few black bears north of us.
Sounded like a battery drill in the cab 😂
you got it.
Could the sound have been a bad bearing in a fan?
not it.
That first log was asking to please be firewood.
yes it was JB but I tried to get something out of it.
How about inverted tree root ball, tables. Sandblasted with glass tops from your uncles land
I have seen people do that very beautiful!
@ by the look of it in the video you have a lot of stumps with the root to work with! And with your shop skills I bet you would make a great job of it too!
Your fan gone wild
not it.
@ 21:55 good to see the Gnome Bros back together and at work ! ZZ must be a bad influence on the pointy headed one because I think they went on the lamb together ?
Mark: "We pull our shorts off" Thats the last thing anyone needs to see
good one lol.
Battery drill
you got it.
Cordless grease gun
not it.
Oscar fell over and his head is hitting the fan blades. 😅😅😅😅
good one Alan lol.
@ 2:10 do the " Andrew Camarata " thing and those stumps will make a great fire
for sure.
Did you ever tell us, Mark ,what kind of cherry tree that was?✌️🇨🇦
yes black cherry.
Boom, was the sound little Donnie?
