Dealing with Alzheimers is a tough road, but igrotum is smoothing out the journey. Witnessing enhanced mental acuity.

This gave me so much hope. I am 45 and also work in a highly technical field, PhD, similar background as Susan. I watched my father decline with dementia until he passed several years ago. I have the same APOE4 genetic variant and 30% chance of developing Alzheimer's. After playing the guitar for 30 years, I cried realizing I had forgotten how to TUNE my guitar one day. I had to watch a tutorial. I forget my passwords at work and forget how to do the professional tasks I have been performing for over a decade. I've lost my engagement ring. I am depressed and withdrawn. All is not lost, but I worry that it's slipping away. Maybe at this stage, it's from a hormonal imbalance. I will go get checked. In the longer term, I would like to plan for MAID. I don't want to be a burden on my loved ones if I develop this awful disease.

This is a terrible disease. I also was diagnosed 2 years ago. First with MCI, that has now progressed to Early Alzheimer’s. It’s frightening because there is no cure.

I am going through some memory lapses myself and forgetting words and word substitutions. I won't get check.. Not now.. I know it's so scary. I'm so scared. But I find when I am nervous and negative it makes my symptoms so much worse. I need to let it go and wake up as if I am healthy .I know it won't be easy . But I am gonna try. Just maybe changing our thoughts can slow it down . Changing thoughts, eating well exercising , long walks mediating and lots of laughter. . Try it with me.

Having had drunken abusive parents who spent their lives drinking, I later learned that my dad had Alzheimer's. Then I later learned there's such a thing as alcohol linked Alzheimer's. Plus, malnutrition causes it along with taking those cholesterol lowering drugs for too long, especially in high doses. It was discovered that our brains need a certain level of some kind of cholesterol in order to function, it's a type of fat. If you lower that too much then your brain malfunctions, causing these kinds of problems. I knew someone else who also developed dementia, but he was pretty secretive about his very personal health issues. I eventually discovered he also developed dementia and at one point I discovered he was mostly skin and bones because secretly, he wasn't eating much. When he developed dementia later on after going off some kind of drug and whatever happened between him and his doctor, that's when dementia started becoming obvious, kind of like it came out of nowhere. I think my friend should have had a blender so he could have made fruit and veggie smoothies and purees to help keep him healthier when he wasn't hungry. Even if you're not of that age, you can still do that for yourself on those days you're just not hungry
