    best way to add the pressure safety, thank you! I'm using the 2nd reducing bushing to keep the factory tail & connector; that' how I have setup all my extension hoses.

    Great video! Got gifted one of those compressors from a neighbor and it had the switch attached to the line. Going to rebuild it to your spec as it looks much stronger. And a simple yet effective 4 tire hose setup. Thanks!

    I made a 4 four wheel inflator/ deflator many years ago. I used a pressure regulator just before splitting off to the tires. I valved the splits off and set the pressure I wanted to inflate to, then opened the valves. I could inflate to where I wanted without having to monitor it.

    Instead of just a pressure switch you can buy a combination pressure switch/ unloader valve so that the compressor doesn't start under load, which I'm sure is why a lot of compressors tell you to have the compressor running before hooking to the tires. The unloader switch is bulkier but will help the compressor live longer

  • @kriegersa

    Awesome! I’ll likely do this to my other compressor! Thanks for sharing.

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure! The principle should be the same - splicing the pressure switch in between the on/off switch and the circuit board.
      I should have mentioned it in the video that the pressure switch just works by cutting continuity when the upper pressure is met, and restoring continuity when the pressure is relieved. Super simple and great!

  • @ScaleofTwo
    @ScaleofTwo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That pressure cutoff switch is great. Wondering if I’d be able to do the same thing with the viair 400p, mistakenly bought the non-automatic one and have been too lazy to return it 😅

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You sure can! Just find the wire from the on/off switch to the circuit board and splice it in. I’ve heard of people doing it on others. Do it!

    I saw Kevin's video before yours, but I really appreciate some of the tips you gave. Like the Napa rewards, as I was able to order one under $100, tax included. One thing I can't decided on is the pressure gauge. Should I get a digital or analog one?

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate that! Kevin’s video is awesome. Nice work on getting a good deal!
      I have an ARB digital tire inflator and it’s been great for the year or two I’ve owned it. My logic for getting analog is that it will always work. Never have to worry about batteries or anything weird. If you’re not out in the boonies frequently I’d go digital. Otherwise, analog is the safest bet!

    Thanks for the video and great you gave credit to Kevin as well! I just purchased this compressor and seems to be awesome for the price we'll have wait on longevity. I am interested on the pressure switch, but I am not too sure if it is healthy for the compressor due to its design as it will pressurize the heads and seals while on standby. Not an expert on the subject, but is just an idea! Any opinion or anything that you might know about it? Thanks again!!

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate the kind words! Thank you! Ideally you will only have the compressor pressurized momentarily. As soon as you disconnect the air hose it will relieve pressure. It is very normal for compressors to build pressure and hold it, such as in a shop situation with a larger compressor, so I doubt it will make a large impact on the lifespan of the compressor.

    I saw in another video that the positive leads on their pump had wire strands pocking through the heat shrink ... I just picked up one of these and pulled the cover to find the very same. I would advise this to anyone before using to check these wire leads and re-wrap if necessary. NAPA needs to require the manufacturer to better their QC.

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, that’s the video I referenced. You don’t get better QC at $114 a compressor unfortunately! Lol

    What size wire did you use to connect to the air pressure switch?

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe a 16 gauge? It’s not super crucial to be a thick wire as it’s just a signal wire to switch the compressor on or off. It intercepts the factory wiring - so you can match that!

    What is the range of that pressure switch?

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a 90-120 psi switch - it’ll shut off the compressor as soon as it hits 120 psi, and when you open the air valve it immediately kicks back on as the pressure drops below 90. Works perfectly and 120 psi does not seem to stress the system at all. You could purchase lower psi pressure switches if you’d like!
