I don't own any aloes. I just don't like the look of them. But its always great to learn new info about any succulent so that someday I can take care of them. Thanks, Cassidy!
I have mine growing indoors. It does really well and is one of my easiest and healthiest succulents. I hardly ever water it, as it doesn't seem to need it. It produces lots of offshoots and bushes out into a really lovely plant.
Thanks for this series because I love succulents and I'm learning how to better care for them while discovering varieties I would love to add to my collection like the Tiger Aloe!
I've had one indoors for nearly a couple of months now. I think I've watered it once and I've kept it in the brightest window in our house. It seems to be doing just fine! :)
I'm so happy to know about this succulent. Last Christmas, I was given one as a gift in a cute Mission "pot" with a Mammilaria planted on the "roof" and this on the side "shed". It's grown to be 12 inches indoors (more shade than bright light)... with 4 offsets that are about 4-6 inches. Since it's outgrown the Mission pot, I need to do something else with it soon. So glad to know my options. Thanks.
So glad to see Kylie's comment. I have a Tiger Tooth in the ground now in my Florida garden, and am excited for it to grow larger. Unlike in CA, my succulent sources in FL mostly sell 2-6" pots. So I have to be patient and hope for growth, because outside, the small plants look pretty puny.
I have not had this succulent. I wish I could grow it but if it does not do well indoors, not sure I would have success. Thanks for these great videos.
I got mine with an arrangement and it is SUPER leggy! Stretching out almost like a vine! It has been indoors at its old home and is indoors here. It's VERY ambitious
The "soak and dry method" is being drilled into our brains!! Very helpful tidbit, for sure! Don't have this plant and don't want cactus plants that hurt so will keep this one in mind.
I got this. It was a GIANT mixture of 9 rooted ones that were all separate. I made 9 different pots. I have 3 in my kitchen window, 2 in my living room, and 4 on my shaded patio. Seeing where they like it best! They were in direct sun (Oklahoma) at Walmart. I got the giant one for only $5.00!
Ooh I should get some of this -- i've been avoiding the aloes for the most part because my aloe vera keeps sticking me with its little pointy barbs, but it's good to know that this one is soft and also completely safe!
I've had this for years just didn't know the name. It grows well by my S window and I just cut it when it gets too big. Once it seemed to die during Winter as I forgot to water it for too long a time. I watered it again and there was new growth. So it's a die hard plant that can survive in harsh conditions such as my household. And it's pretty, too.
I had better luck growing this inside than outside. It got almost sunburnt. I then brought it inside and it is now producing babies but is stretching as you said it would. But it also seems happier.
ive had 1 indoors for almost 2 years now. it was in the first succulent mix arrangement I bought. It was in a small-ish, very shallow bowl along with a stem of burro's tail, some sedum, and (2) others which I believe are either a type of Haworthia or Gasteraloe. I live in Richmond, VA and have it in on a shelf in a western facing bay window. Strangely enough it is doing great! it started out about 3 inches tall, and now my Tiger Tooth Aloe is about 8 inches tall - i need to learn how to chop and replant top! - and it also has a 2 inch baby.
I love tiger tooth aloe, I tend to put it in arrangements to add interest. I have had it indoors with a grow light and south window. Next time I will put it outside on its own. Nice video, thanks for the info!
I don’t have this one! I have the Gold Tooth Aloe, which I thought looked similar. Maybe I’ll have to add this one to my collection 😃. Happy weekend to you and thanks for all of your hard work!
My friend gifted me one in a tiny pot from a pot decorating event at college about 2 years ago. I hoenstly had no clue what it was or how to take care of it so I kind of just watered it when it was dry. Poor thing wasn't even near a window. But somehow it managed to grow quite a bit! I think I almost killed it a couple times by over watering it but it came back.
Although I keep most of my succulents outside year round this is one I’ve always had inside by the window. She’s grown a ton of babies and is very compact but I might just try putting it outside like you suggested in the video.
I'm in love with aloes. I have in my collection Aloe Mine Belle, Aloe Zanzibarica, Aloe Vera (I don't understand it) and Aloe Firebird. I want this one too.
Hmm. I was thinking of getting one of these (and probably still will) but it's going to the bottom of my list since it will have to grow indoors most of the year. Thanks for the info!

I will let you know how it does I don't remember if you said when Tiger Tooth is dormant. Will try to look for this one. All videos are extremely helpful. Thanks Cassidy
Yay! One I don't have. Although I've kinda gotten off the Echeveria kick and am now collecting aloes, this one hasn't been added. Yet. You did kinda scare me with the "not recommended to be grown inside"..I do have a good lighting shelf system.
I have a tiiinnny baby guy that struggled with sooo hard. She kept losing her roots, it was so weird! But shes finally establishing herself after a long August of just completely ignoring her. I felt bad! But it's what she needed!
I have had one of these for a few years now and, because I don't have a yard or patio area, I have had it in an east facing window that gets a lot of morning sun. It has been successful as it has had several offsets grow off of it that I've separated and placed in their own pots but the two main plants are SO leggy and stretched out. They are close to 1.5' tall! I imagine there is no chance of it shrinking back down but if I were to move it outside would that help it stay the size that it is? Would the leaves plump back up? Any opinion/suggestion would be appreciated! Thank you!
I love this aloe. I lost mine a week after I purchased it for some reason. I didn’t water it at all but the leaves all turned black and watery. I’ve taken cuttings from the leaves I could salvage but I don’t know if they'll make it yet.
If it did this, the store over watered it and it root rotted. This happens a lot. Only buy dry plants to endure it isn't over watered. Totally not your fault.
I grow mine indoors on an east facing window sill. Its grown quite a bit and is now 7 inches tall. It also has 7 offsets. Some of the leaves have turned reddish brown, but I quite like the look. Hi! I liked your explanations a lot! Thanks for sharing. I got this plant as a baby in january and I suffered to understand this little beauty... It kept its leaves very very thin for almost 3 months, I tried to let it inside the house, but it didn't worked, then moved to my yard (not under sun directly, because it turned almost black, hot dark brown), and after 2 more months, it seems like the plant has "unfrozen" and then started to grow! So cute! Lots of babies! But, my doubt is: I just can't let it under sun! I have seen people cultivating it under sun, bur I can't... They get really dark brown and I don't like them this color... I live in Rio de Janeiro and I am preparing for the next hot-hot summer, I'll try to get some offsets used to live under sun directly... I want to see this... =) Do you have any tip for this? I wanna use them in gorgeous arrangements =)
Heat and sun are brutal for most succulents. That's a lesson I've learned the hard way. My suggestion would be to start them out in morning sun in a cooler time of year. Gradually introduce them to more sun, maybe an hour more each week. You'll want to do it in the fall so they have all winter to adjust to more sun. Then when the temperatures increase they'll be much more tolerant of heat and sun. But ... Still keep an eye on things. It may not tolerate temperatures over 36*C for very many days, especially in full sun.
@@Succulentsandsunshine hummm thanks, that makes sense. I was thinking and I also believe that one more thing is needed for me (not for the plant): patience! Hehe thanks, I'll follow those tips ;)

I have to without a doubt have to use them I haven’t got a Fluorescent light but however I am getting Full spectrum I also have LED bulbs is that ok does it light to be near the light How about a dwarf clone I have my tiger near the light now should I move it
Hi Maam good day! Like this video. May I know how you propagate aloe tiger tooth as the growth of my tiger tooth is growing vertically without off shoots on its soil ground. How will i cut it since there is no stem🥵
I have three Aloe juvenna and really like their unique shape. My succulents don't grow as large as they should. Cassidy - how often do you fertilize and when? Do you believe that may be my problem along with not enough light?
I have one of these that's over 10 years old. I'm in Michigan and I always keep mine in a terra cotta small pot as they do not have a deep root system. I keep mine in the windowsill to get as much sun as possible. I water 1x a month in winter and about every 10 days in growing season when completely dry. Their leaves soften up when they require watering. All of mine do great indoors.
Fertilizing could definitely help. And possibly more light and a little more frequent water. Here's my take on fertilizing: succulentsandsunshine.com/yt-fertilize
I grow it indoor with less watering but it's fine for me. The leaf is really hard and spiky- they dont hurt like cactus but still it scratch me sometime
I rescued my tiger tooth from the trash at Home Depot last year. I live in Texas, but we still do get below freezing so I’ve been growing it indoors for the past year. It is not a beautiful green BUT it’s like 14” tall and only the one upward stem. I’ve had to stake it so it won’t fall over for months now. I came here to find out if I can prune it or propagate it into a larger pot but making it shorter so it won’t fall over. Any tips? I love it so much and didn’t realize my small pot was stopping it from sending out off shoots. What should I do for it now?
Hi! I live in a zone 9 climate but bought this plant at a store (it was indoors) with no tag about it! So I’ve just been treating it as a succulent and it’s been staying indoors with me, but it’s grown very lengthy, with a lot of shoots, making it actually fall over. I originally came to this video to figure out if this is even my plant and it looks like it. I plan on moving it outside after seeing it, but can I replant the shoots? Or how can I remove them that’s safe for the plant? I want it to grow healthily! Thanks.
I have this, a rescue from Lowe's it had three fairly tall pups growing on the side of it half as tall as the actual plants itself and today upon inspection one of them was extremely mushy and literally just pulled away from the plant the other one seemed to be fine an the plant itself seems to be okay what should I do. After bringing home a repotted it in a mixture of cactus potting soil and perlite I waited a week after repotting it to give it water and Have not watered it since do you think perhaps the roots on that pup were damaged during the repotting or perhaps a sign of overwatering
It does sound like it was over watered. Repotting in better draining soil is a great start. I'd wait at least 2 weeks before watering. Keep an eye on the leaves to see if they're "telling you" they need more or less. If you're not sure what that looks like, this cheat sheet should help: succulentsandsunshine.com/yt-succsneedwater
My tiger tooth aloe is getting all stretched out at the upper leaves, and the stretched out leaves/stem are also brownish, but only at those upper areas. It's indoors, under a grow light. What would be causing the stretch and brown?
It's hard to say for sure without seeing it, but the brown could be stress coloring from the grow light, especially if the plant is a little bit under watered.

It is one of my favorite plants, so I’d love to show it off. Please let me know if there’s a way to share pictures. Thank you.
There's not a way to share pictures on TH-cam. We love to see pictures of our club members' succulents in the Succulent Lovers Club, though! Learn more here:

I don't have any aloe, this may be a good starter one, possibly outdoor in ground.
I love this one!
Can you show me to how to cut it when it grows too tall?
This post will walk you through what to do with a succulent that's grown too tall:

PS. I love that planter. Is it concrete?
Yes! It's one of my all time favorite indoor planters for succulents. You can get it from Amazon through our affiliate link here:
