    You can ride that bike across country no problem.....people have been doing it on much less equipped bike for years. Comfortable, good mileage, good bag capacity, wind protection, cruise control, pretty nimble compared to the hard baggers. What more do you want

    I own a 2017 Heritage and like how the rear seat acts as support on my lower back, it does not poke you. The seat is very comfortable. For Highway riding you may want to install a larger windshield, the stock one is 18" and HD sells a 21" which will help a ton in riding comfortably on the highway. You do feel buffeting above 62 miles per hour with the stock windshield. I rode a friend's with a 21" windshield and it was awesome on the highway. The suspension is very comfortable. As mentioned on the video it has cruise control and ABS breaks. Overall a great bike for highway use if you go to the larger windshield.

    I own a Heritage and LOVE IT !!!!!

      I believe it is okay for what it is, just not my cup of tea. I tend to like the Fat Boy and Slim due to the way the seats are. I know it can be as simple as a seat change to make it better.

    Yea - by the way you speed shift, you must be used to riding crotch-rockets. You also mentioned that the handle bars are a little too high for you. The seats Are replaceable.

    Opinions vary. I happen to like the Heritage. It has iconic styling and can be customized in a variety of ways. Very light steering for such a big bike, it feels much lighter than it actually is. It's a fairly comfortable bike to tour on as well. The only reason I'd take a Road King over the Heritage is the RK has the new 107 motor. To each his own. Thanks for posting this though, I appreciate anyone who takes the time to make one of these videos and share it.

      Thanks. I think the Heritage will get the 107 very soon and it will make it more fun.

    I had my Dyna wide glide setup like a heritage softail with bags and windscreen. But it always just killed my ass after awhile. I couldn’t go long trips on it, even with a mustang tour seat. So I finally got a 2016 heritage softail and it’s WAY more comfortable. I’ve taken a few long trips on it and was comfortable the entire time. Big big difference. It’s so much more plush riding. Then I tried a road king for a day and although it rode really well I just didn’t like it as much as the heritage. I like how you sit down deeper into the frame on the softail. More nimble too. So I’ve stayed with the heritage 👍

    I like the heritage better. Sitting down IN the bike just feels right. Road kings feel like sitting on a horses back.

    Thank you for all of your reviews!! I am in the market for a new Harley and have found your reviews very informative!! I have been looking at reviews for a while now when I came across yours. You can't believe how relieved I was to find your posts. You know how to use all of the controls. Some of the other reviewers couldn't figure out how to get the gear readout come up on the display. Keep up the great work!!! Perhaps Harley will put the 107 in the Softails for 2018?!?! Dave from Pittsburgh, Pa

      Thanks for the support. I do hope the 8 comes to the rest of the line next year. A Dyna with that engine would be spectacular!

      @RabidHedgehog  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      And the Softail platform too :) I tend to like the Dyna chassis better. Maybe they'll change out the suspension to help out.

    This is set up very much like my 1979 Electra glide. Then it was only a s1200 cc motor, 4 speed gear box and single cam. AMF had bought out H-D and cheapened the bike. It had collapses lifts, mild steel valves, and cast iron valve guides. About the fastest you could go was 85 MPH. However, it was a god ride because it was heavy. I had to sell it to pay the doctor for my 1st child.

    It should be a pretty easy task to pop the staples on that rear seat, cut that foam that pokes forward and staple the leather back down. I don't care for it either.
    I'm surprised you didn't like it better. I've ridden a bunch of Harleys and my favorite of them all was the Fatboy. Don't care for the Fatboy's looks nor the fact that boards are scraping on anything short of an arrow straight road, but it sure did feel good on those.
    Never road the HSC, but would have thought it would feel pretty similar to the Fatboy.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They do feel a bit different due to the seat styles, but handling is the same. You sneeze and you scrape a board on a straight basically. But heck, they're cruisers and not designed to be rode fast.

    You need to ride the 2018+ version. I hear a lot of great things between the latest version and what you tested in this video. I would love your review of it.

    had to quit watching when you started going on about how uncomfortable it was. I have a 2016 Heritage, it's like sitting in a sofa chair cruising down the highway. Can travel for hours and hours, 100's of miles. Don't think I've ever been on a more comfortable bike.

    • @JohnnyRebKy
      @JohnnyRebKy หลายเดือนก่อน

      I bought a 2016 heritage with 9500 miles on it over a new 2024. Also got it for 11k instead of 26k. But money wasn’t the reason. The old model heritage like you said is like a sofa chair to me. Felt better than the new model heritage, road king. I guess it’s how you sit down deeper into the bike and those mini apes. And I’m 6’3 with a bad back. 5 surgeries already at 40. But the 2016 heritage is like sitting in chair at home with a backrest on it. I take a trip I lean back on my travel bag, throw legs up on crash bars, and roll 👍.
      And maybe I’m all alone on this but the 2018 and newer heritage felt more cramped. Something is different. I know they remade the frame to be stiffer. That’s good for handling I’m sure but it didn’t have that Cadillac ride down the highway in such a relaxed position as my 16 does. Plus I still love the vintage classic looks of the old heritage. Mine is the teal and white one which looks like a 1950s bike. I’m just not into the blacked out new stuff

      @@JohnnyRebKy agreed. And if a 2016 ain’t comfortable enough you can put on a back rest. Talk about comfort 😎

    I just wish you could get the RK with the same retro styling. you can do it up a bit but it never looks quite right. Unless it's an FLHP.

      I am waiting for the Classic to sneak back into the line again and with 2018 being the next 5 year anniversary mark it might sneak up again. Police models are fun to play with.

      Rabid Hedgehog The FLHP bikes are definitely cool. not a huge fan of the standard ABS though. I have never owned a vehicle with ABS and never ridden a bike with it.

      I think it's a good bike. I need to do a video on it. I rode like an 09 version years ago and thought it was pretty nice.

    wow,,, this is the last the great Harley and the v rod, it will be missed by all , I hope this is not the death throws for Harley ,lack of sport from all those who think they love the brand . bill from toms river NJ

      I think the Heritage can be improved by changing the seat and taking out the B motor twin cam. And also changing those bars for goodness sake.

      The "last great harley'? It's not a top seller, by any means.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think by personal opinion to him it could be the last great Harley maybe by design and over all look and feel. I never felt the Softail was amazing, but I do see a ton of them here in Oklahoma. Maybe sales are based on pot hole density or something :)
