The USGA is a nonprofit organization that celebrates, serves and advances the game of golf. Founded in 1894, we conduct many of golf’s premier professional and amateur championships, including the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open. With The R&A, we govern the sport via a global set of playing, equipment, handicapping and amateur status rules. The USGA campus in Liberty Corner, New Jersey, is home to the Association’s Research and Test Center, where science and innovation are fueling a healthy and sustainable game for the future. The campus is also home to the USGA Golf Museum, where we honor the game by curating the world’s most comprehensive archive of golf artifacts. To learn more, visit www.usga.org.

Ernie has always been one of my favourites, so it’s nice to watch him come out on top in the US Open
Bittersweet hearing the wonderful voice of Dave Marr, who would die of cancer just four months later. Each of the best golf analysts had a different style that could be appreciated and Marr was among those greats.
Classic Open. Given the pressure, the 4 leaders all brought their A-game for the most part on Sunday.
Taylormade burner bubble shaft on full display during this era. Els's swing is so powerful and smooth

28:00 Man, id like to hear that interesting piece.
What trees in the British Open??? Where did Miller pick that one out of 😂
I always thought Jeff Maggart had the most simple and beautiful swing
Ernie Els was probably the golfer hurt the most by Tiger Woods’ existence. He could’ve won another 2-3 majors if not for Tiger.
Surprisingly, Ernie Els and Chris Dimarco have the most runner ups to Tiger in a major with 2. Shaun Micheel would have 2 PGA Championships if not for Tiger.
Let's not forget Phil Mickelson in that. I'm not sure Ernie ever really recovered after Phil holed that putt on the last green to win the 2004 Masters, because that appeared to be the year Ernie was going to win at Augusta, which would have been his fourth major championship. He did win the 2012 Open Championship, but that was more a product of Adam Scott's collapse on the final four holes, while Mickelson would go on to win six major championships (3 Masters, 2 PGA Championships, and the 2013 Open Championship).
@@cjs83172 Good points, it’s a disservice to a major winner when the focus is on another player’s collapse. No titles come with an asterisk (Unless it’s shortened to 54 holes)
Why, does the sound keep cutting out?
The occasional silence and edits, while most unfortunate, are because of background music which the USGA may not have received a clearance for. Pity that some extra time could not have been spent providing text captioning in the silent spots.
@@tubiephrank0707 In that case, can you inform the YSGA about this and suggest your solution to them?
@@tubiephrank0707 USGA not "YSGA"
Tiger Woods became #1 in the world for the first time after this U.S Open.
#1 Greg Norman missed the cut while Tiger finished T19 thus taking #1 away from Greg.
Although by the end of ‘97 Norman had regained the no.1 spot.
@@MrAJR76 True! Ernie also won the Buick Classic the week after this and became #1 for the first time taking #1 away from Tiger.
I terribly miss Johnny Miller making calls
he is the worst lol. hes like the demon in your head that tells you every bad thing, plus he just glazes tiger and mickelson in his later broadcasts to the point of being vomit inducing
Is it me or is Jeff Maggart's swing has some overlap to Jon Rahm's swing?
Yes, both accelerate through the ball the same way
Ernie Els proved the 1995 U.S open win was no fluke
Well he won in 1994, Corey Pavin was the 1995 Champion but point taken.
It's truly amazing to me that Johnny Miller had this gig as long as he did..he sometimes fumbles and mumbles his words , and is overall a poor communicator 👎👎😁
Pretty sad that the USGA doesn't want the best field in its "Open"
Retroactive changes to exemptions is not very democratic for the supposedly "most democratic" tournament in golf
Pretty sad that you choose a video of a U.S Open from 26 years ago to say that🤣 you should delete this dumb comment.
the Faldo-Woods pair was interesting. Watching Els play is like watching paint dry on a cold day. Arguably the least charismatic player in the entire Golf Hall of Fame.
41:11 ....Faldo 2 holes up on Woods
49:53 ....Faldo 3 holes up on Woods
1:09:21 ....Faldo 4 up on Woods, but just hit the water on 6. Is there still hope for Tigger?
1:13:00 ...Faldo nails a tremendous off-green putt to salvage a triple bogey! But is now only 3 up on Woods. This is getting exciting.
!:25:00 ff....Faldo/Woods halve #8 @ par
Love coming back to this to watch Lehman choke it away. The most overrated player of all-time.
