At 75 years old, ridden bikes all my life but aching limbs and other unwanted nasties, thought oh well I'll try a scooter, I'm now on my second pcx (2019), I simply love them. My friend 10 yrs my junior, swapped his hardly used Triumph street triple for a 125 Forza. My life has now changed dramatically. Fortunate to live at the bottom end of the peak district we regularly having 120 mile trips out, priceless!!. Coffee at Matlock then a whizz round some great countryside. Time of our lives, so not just for commutes but also fun can be be had on a gallon of fuel !!! A new lease of life. Thanks Mr Honda

I went from a 1200 Suzuki Bandit to a Honda 125 Grom and loved the little thing! Small bikes are the most fun bikes you can ride. Traded it in for a Street Triple R, actually got bored of that bike in just a few months and missed my 125 Grom.

I also enjoy riding this scooter around the country, from a border to border - as long as the roads are good quality, no potholes, amazing. I am "only" 54 so I still want to see what it's like to ride a real motorcycle, so am going to buy one soon, and I expect much more comfort on bad roads, so it'll be CB 500 X.

Had one of these for 3 years. Best decision ever. It use to cost me £8 a month in petrol and that gave me around 175 miles or so with pure city riding in London. I’ve now upgraded to a cbr600rr but I wouldn’t hesitate in getting another one of these again for smaller commutes

I own a 2018 MY white, and I have been fully delighted with it. Consumpt 2,1L/100 km when idle spare switched on, if it runs all the time, it's 2,3L/100km. Unfortunately I did a small crash in April, and 3 right side panels suffered 5cm wear off and it would cost approx 300gbp with new replacement so I leave it as it is for a while. Service period 4000km or every year. In a potholed city you have to watch the killer holes on the asphalt carefully. On a quality road surface, you can turn with it like a bigger 17 inch wheeled motorcycle. Vmax was 115km/h in a cooler season.

Bought brand new one in July from local Honda dealer in Tamworth £2799 inc first service which I had done at 600 miles in just under a month. Need to keep miles off my MT07 on pcp plus wanted to get grand children into biking and daughter in law is ok with the PCX. One of them loves it and had new kit too for him. Even two up with me at 14 stone and him a large 12 year old we still keep up with trafic and it moves away from the lights faster than nearly all cars. Put it on credit card so no mileage restrictions to worry about and I can put the Yam away for the salty winter. I’d definitely recommend 👍🏻

I keep telling pedal cycling work colleagues, going around town they'd be safer on a 125cc twist n go scooter. All you need is a CBT on a provisional licence. If you can ride a pedal bike, twist n go scooters take all of about 5 minutes to work out how to use.
On a 125 bike you can keep up with the traffic, don't have to ride in the gutter, even over take some of the traffic if you want. You have much better brakes, tyres, should be wearing protective gear, and don't arrive sweaty to wherever you are going. Although I guess you're not "getting fit" but getting fit in town centres also includes deep breathing of diesel fumes because you will be breathing more whilst pedalling a bike.
Me, I think I'll carry on my Speed Triple, which is a little bit more than is needed for town centre riding! (but it doesn't really go near town centres)
If I did get a town centre commuter bike, it would more likely be a Honda NC750 with DCT .

I upgraded to a PCX about 4 months ago from pedal bikes that I'd been riding round town for decades. It is definitely safer and brings all the benefits you mention. Close-passes used to give me incredible anxiety as, on a pedal bicycle you are so exposed and vulnerable. One little old lady who's lost her awareness or a speeding teenager on their phone and that's it. These are still risks on a motorbike of course but you are in such a more powerful position and the whole thing just feels 'better'.

    • @karlosh9286
      @karlosh9286 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@Bangandthedirtisgone I have ridden pedal bikes in town centres. I couldn't pedal that fast. my max speed was about 12 to 15 MPH. The cars wanting to over take me with really risky manoeuvres terrified me.
When riding in the gutter the road surface was often a lot worse than the middle of the road. I did get an electric pedal bike, that was a bit better, but still only up to 15 MPH assistance. Being able to keep up with traffic seems to be the most important part.

Just think. How much city traffic and pollution would we lose by people using these ? Cheaper than the tube or train. I paid 4 grand a year when I worked in London. No one wears suits anymore so wet weather gear is ok. Before I worked in London I was commuting daily even in the snow 24 miles a day back in 1980 and there were loads commuting on bikes due to cars being too expensive. Plus point even my old 250 at age 18 blew away most things from the lights and a trip to Clacton or Southend cost peanuts. Mind you beer was about 8p a pint...

I have had the first generation PCX125 for ten years now, as a supplement to my bigger bikes and the day-to-day commuter ( 10 mile round trip). It's well built and has stood up to winter salt fairly well. I had to replace the forks due to corrosion and it has quite heavy usage of tyres (4 sets in 18,000 miles). Rear shocks are poor, always were. Linked brakes are a pain, especially in icy conditions when you can't feel what the rear brake is doing. Oh, and the seat hump is a water trap. Some of these things have been rectified since the 1st model.
Overall, it's great. I've seen 95mpg, simple and quick enough away from A-roads. Storage and weather protection of legs is great.
I'll have a look at the 2021 upgrade, but I'll maybe just run mine until something expensive lets go.
Keeps my bigger bikes for weekends and longer runs.

I've had every 125cc honda bike over the years, And I can say I travel all over the country on them I keep top speed on them all the time, Usually 60 but on the s-wing 70, Ive never had one break down or even a blip. The motors are bullet proof, and I've only had 1 puncture in 30years,. I've still got the my last honda Dylan, probably the best scooter ever made, It runs superb and has alot of mileage in it's belt. Side shear wind was the only problem on my S-wing, but that's it. Best motors ever, long live HONDA.

Used to get around on pushbikes and ebikes. Since having a PCX for 4 months I haven't looked back. I still love bicycles and appreciate their form and function but on modern, busy roads with such high volumes of fast moving traffic it sadly is pretty grim now on anything without a half decent motor.
The infrastructure just doesn't exist in the UK despite the fact it would save millions in the form of NHS costs as people would be healthier from both the exercise and air quality.
Anyway, I have no complaints about my PCX. It gives me much more road presence (size and noise) and visibility (daylight running lights) over a bicycle and much more comfort (seat and suspension). Getting back on a bicycle and feeling every little jarring bump is not much fun... Comforting to know the acceleration is there when needed too.
The best thing though is NO MORE CLOSE PASSES by absolute ar*e holes!!!! From the slowest to the the fastest thing on the road. Can't ask for much more.

I own a Honda Cub 100cc and she weighs just over 90kg. Has 17" front and back and a bit worse mileage since she still has a carb. Loads of style and extremely reliable due to how simple she's built. Parts are cheap and you can learn to work on her. Riding the PCX is almost like riding the Cub with my girlfriend as a pillion, way sluggish. Both have the same top speed on the highway though.
My point is: both bikes are nice, but if you really want to have fun on a commute, get an old Cub!

Most learner scooter riders in the UK cannot exceed 125cc capacity engine. And those with a full licence will choose bigger bike engines (400cc+). Which is the reason why the 150 isn't sold here.

@@EinkOLED and if you have a UK A licence and want a commuter scooter there's the Forza 300cc or Integra 750cc scooters Honda makes, maybe even an NC750 with DCT. As you say absolutely no point in Honda selling the 150cc scooter in the UK or Europe.
