    Fascinating. Her spilts are better than I thought they were, and losing 0.1 on body position on all bar one is actually not bad. She's improved so much it's incredible!

    There was a subtle balance check on the front aerial.

    She definitely got more pause deductions and less form deductions than what was taken here. For example from the judges angle they wouldn't be able to tell the body position error on the straddle jump

      The step is larger than shoulder width. That's why it's a .3 deduction.

      Also, those who occur a 0.1 deduction literally have the smallest step ever so it's not fair for Jade to take a 'bigger' step and have the same 0.1 deduction.

      Plenty of gymnasts can do a loso without bent knees. Viktoria Komova, Laurie Hernandez, Nastia Liukin, Catalina Ponor, Flavia Saraiva, Kara Eaker, Kyla Ross, etc.

    I’ve always thought the flexed feet rule during things like double pikes was stupid. You’re preparing for your landing.

    • @turbojon8117
      @turbojon8117 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What? I've seen standing back pikes with pointed toes (where there is much less airtime), not to mention all the double pikes I've seen with pointed toes.

    Thank you so much for your videos! ❤ I wonder why are flexed feet on hs+loso+loso not penalised?

    • @jaguar6414
      @jaguar6414 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You are allowed to have flexed feet in the preflight and in preparation for landing, so even if you did point your toes for the moment that you are at vertical, only super attentive judges will notice. Plus, they will generally cut you some slack if it’s on something like a LOSO, whereas a flexed foot in a skill that doesn’t require inversion (saltos, flips, aerials) is much more of a problem, because it’s really not hard to correct and just shows a lack of polish in a routine.

    Can you do a video on how the side splits are counted as a “c” or “d” depending on how it’s done. I’m kinda confused on crediting as a d skill but it’s a c skill

    • @Zuranthium
      @Zuranthium ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The gymnast needs to be in split position at the start or end of the 1/2 turn. Jade here tries to hit the split at the end of the 1/2 turn and isn't fully turned when she does it, but still enough to get the skill credited, because she's past 1/4 turn.

  • @eimardgomes1128
    @eimardgomes1128 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Her routine is so slow? Isn't that an artistry deduction? What about the pauses?

    • @Inyourlap
      @Inyourlap 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s what I thought too. There’s a lack of dynamics between acro elements. She’s the same on floor, artistry is not her forte.

  • @jorgebonilla2234
    @jorgebonilla2234 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I’m not sure a lot of these were taken (esp the .3 landing) and some of bent knee deductions. aren’t there deductions for pauses and excessive preparation? I feel like those were taken instead of some of the ones you listed

    • @lunedocs2228
      @lunedocs2228 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m a gymnastics judge and I don’t understand half of the “body position” deductions. I can see the bent knees and flexed feet but other than that, I don’t know. There were a few balance checks on elements that they didn’t list here either. Also the step on the landing definitely was not 0.30 lol
      Edit: Also there are deductions for having a “concentration pause,” which could have been taken on her routine as well

    Why does arm position matter? I never considered arm position in terms of leaps. I thought you should just do what’s comfortable

    • @FlipFlyTumble
      @FlipFlyTumble  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      arms are part of the body position. everything has to be perfect. it also makes it fair to those who put the extra effort to do nice arms.

    • @Zuranthium
      @Zuranthium ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@FlipFlyTumble Her arms are fine for the technical standards, they aren't overly askew or something. You'd have to take this deduction on every element of her routine if trying to say "it's not pretty enough" (which isn't viable in the current system; that is an overall thing to look at for artistry deduction). You never took the arm deduction in your breakdown anyway, her leaps have mandatory .1 off for the leg form and you list "arm position" alongside it but still just give .1 to the element. You didn't consistently call out "arms" either, like on the opening split and straddle where they clearly break line.

    I need to see a flexed foot. I'm 34, been a fan for 30 years. I can't recognize flexed feet so i end up creepily staring at their feet. I quit gymnastics because of my feet, fairly quickly because my coach noticed they were (and are) completely flat. No arches. It pretty much knocks me out of all high impact athletic activity.

    • @lunedocs2228
      @lunedocs2228 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Have you seen Simone Biles’ toe point? You can be a fantastic gymnast with no arch in your foot. I know because I’m living it right now, lol. I’m a Level 8 gymnast with a pretty flat foot.

    • @gatordragon8824
      @gatordragon8824 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lunedocs2228 perhaps I wasn't clear. NO ARCHES. NONE. I ruptured a tendon crossing a street. I also have accessory navicular syndrome--i was born with extra bones in my feet. Until they were removed in my late 20s, it hurt to use my feet. My feet have been described as "broken tripods" by doctors. They aren't formed correctly. I'm not allowed to stand for long periods of time, run, fall on them, wear heels or flip flops. After a couple surgeries they're more functional but they still hurt when i overuse them.
