  • Heyyyyyyy,
So i'm finally sharing my skin care story! It took a while to find some pictures of me from back in the day! But I hope this sheds some light on what my skin condition was. Sure I didn't have terrible acne, but my skin was enough to warrant a visit to the Dr!
This is how I cured my spots, got rid of dark spots and hyper pigmentation and helped control my oily skin!

Just wanted to mention, I used to think sun bathing and going into the sun without sunscreen would 'clear and dry up spots'....which it didn't. Which is why i'm tanned in the first pic! All that did was made my dark spots darker and my skin drier. I completely forgot to talk about my bad sun bathing habits, but I feel its important to mention!

Hi i have some blackheads on my nose and on my cheek but i have dry skin on my cheeks and get dandruff on my eyebrows sometimes along with some whiteheads and some small tin'y bump pimple like things on my forehead while i have some acne scars from zits i had on my chin and one on my cheeks what do u think i should get from cosrx or any brand bha or aha? I am 18 and dont normally do stuff to my face other then nivea cream as my face gets really dry even in summer and my nose unless i am sweating in the heat. I normally only get tiny zits on my chin or cheek and once in a few months i think my skin is mainly dry or combination but as i have gotten older went from really oily to really dry, should i get originals aha bha peeling solution or bha from cosrx, what products do u recommend? And my cheeks are usually really red my mom says its rosacea but idk ,in the sun my skin geys sunburnt easily too

I’m honestly gonna be 100% honest, I always had this bitterness of a thought in my head when I’ve first watched some of your videos; I kept telling myself “He never had worse breakout, he’s genetically blessed etc”. This video shed some light regarding that matter and I honestly feel ashamed of myself for thinking that, probably because I have lots of acne and I needed to vent out emotions and put people down to make me feel better. This video made me realize though that whatever tips/tricks/information regarding skincare you are talking about it is based on your personal experience. This shed some light. Thank you.

    • @JamesWelsh
      @JamesWelsh  5 ปีที่แล้ว +313

Hey! Thanks for being honest. I don’t blame you for thinking that. In general, it’s pretty difficult to trust TH-camrs who talk about products a lot as it can always look sponsored or like we are trying to push sales! There’s a lack of honesty. I would say if someone is just reading stuff off a bottle, rather than telling you their personal experience with the product, they’re probably just trying to make a sale!

I’m 19 too. I turn 20 next month! I have wildly sensitive acne-prone skin. My main concerns are acne, redness, and acne scars. If I had to place my skin in a category, I’d say it’s combination. My skin is usually normal, but sometimes it can be dry(particularly on my cheeks) and other times it can be a little oily(particularly on my temples). I’ve finally started to clear up my skin with this routine:
      AM:
      Rinse face with water
Secret Key Aloe Soothing Moist Toner
      Cerave PM Moisturizer
      Krave Beauty The Beet Shield
If it is particularly cold and windy or my skin seems extra sensitive, I will apply the Krave Beauty Great Barrier Relief before my moisturizer.
      PM:
Krave Beauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser
      Secret Key Toner
      TO Niacinimide and zinc 1%
      PC Azaleic Acid Booster
      Krave Beauty Great Barrier Relief
      Cerave PM Moisturizer
Every five days, I exfoliate with the Sanitas Gentle Refining Mask.
Other masks I use 2-3 times a week:
      I’m From Honey Mask
      I’m From Mugwort Mask
      FAB Instant Oat Mask
The Body Shop Aloe Sleeping Mask

I want mine to be the same. My skin texture is so so bad and so uneven I hate it so much. I have acne scars pretty much all over. It’s so frustrating. I just want perfect skin. I keep trying oils and natural care products and it just gives me more break outs sometimes. I did microneedling one time and it seems like I barely barely change a bit. I've been into skincare for about a year and a half and I've been seeing results. But obviously, there are many things to be "fixed" (like hyperpigmentation and bumpy marks) but seeing your example I know I just have to be patient and consistent with it.

I really like how you talked about how long it took you. I’ve never had extreme breakouts but I used to pick at them a lot in middle school when I was anxious (which was like all the time) and now, as a college student, I have weird texture and lots of dark spots. I’m just starting out in skincare and I was starting to get discouraged, but this helped me realize that this is a long game. I may not see the results I want for a couple months or even years, but I will see them eventually.

My skin is so much better from my teenage years. I used to use the nuetrogena grapefruit cleanser for acne and THAT WAS IT. No moisturizer. No sunscreen. No lip balm. My skin was incredibly flaky and oily. I did that for years. 🤦‍♀️ It was a mess.

100% agree with you James! When I was at my young 14-15 my skin was pretty the same as yours. Btw I've used Zynerit just like Robert but I threw it away. It was really bad for my skin. The truth is that morning and evening routine, healthy sleep, food and water ARE my magicians! After 10 years of fight with the pimples now I can say I'm happy with my skin. I use Oriflame's NovAge skin routine that includes everything from cleanaer through serum, and three types of cream and I'm happy with my oiliness too lol

    Hi James!
I can completely identify with your story. I used to have bad skin, and that was the catalyst for me to completely dive into the world of skincare, Korean practice and products.
Korean skincare has completely transformed my skin, in fact for quite some time I was discovering products and loving them - and I had no idea they were Korean brands! I have friends joke with me on how extensive my routine is, and maybe spending a little too much on products..but then at the same time, they will give me wonderful compliments and ask for tips :)
When you struggle with your skin for so long, it feels amazing to then get compliments on how nice it looks and questions asked on what I use. Working hard on getting my skin in good shape and seeing the results is one of the best things I've ever felt and has done wonders for my self esteem.
Your skin is so lovely! Thank you for sharing your story I can definitely relate!

Wow, you've changed so much. I remember when I was a teenager with oily and acne-prone skin, I was so self-conscious that I used to apply my mother's foundation on my face, it was horrible, I didn't know what I was doing, and my family didn't care about my problems with acne, so when I turned 18 I booked an appointment with a dermatologist, she was very straightforward, she prescribed me a bar soap with sulfur and salicylic acid, a sunscreen for oily skin, and Epiduo. Most of my acne cleared up in just one month, I was so happy... then my obsession for skincare began.

  • @sarahburnell653
    @sarahburnell653 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi James, absolutely love your channel. I had really bad spots as a teenager (I’m now 37) and then full on acne in my mid-late twenties. Like you said, there just weren’t the products around back then (or even the internet in the case of my teens! 🙈) so I used products like Oxy10 (don’t know if you remember that?!) and used sun beds excessively to try to ‘burn off’ my spots! In my late twenties i tried every product or acne pill I could find and finally came across laser treatment at a skin clinic in Nottingham as a last ditch attempt to get rid of my spots. It was horrendously expensive but it really helped heal my skin and they introduced me to products with proper ingredients and explained that I needed to replenish and heal my skin rather than constantly strip it. Since then I have been obsessed with skincare and I completely relate to all your experiences that you talk about in this video! People never believe me when I say I had horrific acne which I have to take as the biggest compliment knowing what I went through.
Finally the age I am now I am finding my oily/acne prone products aren’t hydrating my skin enough so I’m looking at more moisturising ingredients. I’m just about to order the rice toner you recommend and want a new moisturiser/sleeping mask for the evening.
Thank you so much for all the information you provide on your channel, your glowing forehead is my inspiration! X
