Thanks for the compliment. Secret is once you get them trimmed up nicely, keep them maintained by pruning them routinely. I probably prune mine every couple months.
I just bought some potted Mediterranean fall palms that have a bunch of suckers at the bottom. Is a pruning saw the right tool to use to cut them all off if I want my palms to grow with only a single trunk?
Depends on how thick they are. If they are relatively thin I would use a pair of loppers to cut them off. But if your palm is large and the suckers are thick in diameter, then I would use a pruning saw like the one I used in the video. The suckers can be a pain if your goal is a single trunk. I have quite a few in my yard and despite me removing them frequently, they keep coming back. Just something to keep in mind. Not a big deal.
My landscaper is planting Mediterranean palms along the sidewalk entryway. How do you keep it as a single trunk? I don't want any babies growing, because they grow lots of suckers blocking out onto the walkway
My experience has been that some Mediterranean Palm grow more suckers than others. For those that grow a lot, you just have to keep on cutting them off with a pair of loppers. Despite this, they grow back. Just part of maintenance with Mediterranean fan palms.
Great video! It takes so long to trim the Mediterranean fan palms, and I’ve never been able to get mine to look as good as that. Great info!

Thank you. I appreciate that. Going to upload a new video this weekend on a small project I just finished.
That looks more like a windmill palm (trachycarpus) that has a single furry trunk. Nice trimming effect though:-)
It looks great i might try it on mine
They look better like that than bushy
Getting closer would have been nice to see

Aren't those usually multi-trunk..?
Yes.

Where can I buy that pruning knife? I tried HD and Lowes
I thought both stores carried the pruning saw. If not, you can order the pruning saw online. The brand is corona.

Windmill palms don't have spikes on their fronds.
Estragou a arvore , tirou a fibra que faz parte da beleza do tronco .
