Most of them aren't alone. It's not loneliness that inspires them to reach out, yhey reach out when they get dumped or dump the rebound, the person who they tried to change and turn into you.

Been 3 months since my ex girlfriend left our 5 year relationship. We see each other in the gym she’s completely not acknowledging me, not even hello how are you. We lived together with her 3 teenage boys. It hurts but I’m at the point where I’m not completely over it but I’m as sad as I was in the beginning. No idea if she’ll come back. In public she avoids me completely and runs away (not literally) but it shows about her more than it does me when she behaves this way.
Try not to go on same time line as you use 2 go 2 the gym.
She will mis you there and starts wondering about you.
Give her space but even more important, yourself!

I experienced the same but I changed to a different gym, that was a massive change for me. She see me at a supermarket car park and drove out right away, that hurt so can tell you she is gone. When they cold like that they done, I’m 5 months now she not reached out at all
NO. It didn't take a while. She went home to visit her parents. Two weeks later, they had convinced her to move back home. The next day, she said that there were people all around and all that she could think about was me. She moved out two weeks later. She still is not sure. She is in Purgatory. Sadly, my female friends have found out that she is gone and are circling already
Almost been a year since she decided to leave. How do you know if they are reaching the is point though, I’m restricted and unfollowed on socials so no idea at this point
He wrote to me at 2am over a month ago. I wanted to ignore and wish I had but I took your advice about the acorn. I wrote back 5 days later (usually I reply same day) and ever since hes ignored me. His text had x in but I didn't put one. I asked how are you? He hasn't replied and he's never ignored me for this long. How do you know when this is it, that's the end? It's very stressful not knowing but one thing I do know is I'm not reaching out. Deleted all our photos. His number. All the chats.
