I was in high school same time as them and I remember hearing about how packed this gym was just for these 2. Legendary at the time and still legendary today.
I wrestled for Mead high school in spokane washington in the late 80's, during the Vision Quest era (the movie was filmed there), and let me tell you...EVERY match looked like this. Absolutely packed gyms going wild. My glory days, I miss them.
I was there it was an electric atmosphere everybody knew what was gonna happen so it was awesome as always between Graham and Saint Ed’s with David Taylor and Colin Palmer being the icing on cake!
I beat Lance a couple times growing up in the youth leagues. But once he got to middle school, I couldn't touch him. I followed his career into the college years and not surprised at all at the success he achieved.
We had HS crowds like this in Minnesota and we were known as a hockey state. Minny gets over looked, we have great wrestling talent though we are known for hockey.
@@lexingtonconcord8751 "meaning", you are pathetic. There is no meaning to be found in my comment. An observation/comparison doesn't seek meaning. this is some *quintessentially midwestern* shit right here! xD fantastic wrestling...lol, i just googled david taylor, and he's quite the accomplished wrestler, so not surprising.

6 time state champ in Ohio (junior high and all four years of high school). Got a full ride to Ohio State, but then injuries stopped his wrestling career. He’s now an incredible coach in Ohio and runs his own club.
They grew up and wrestled in 2 different states. Nevada and Ohio. How did they meet in High school? Great match by the way! Glad Taylor beat Burroughs last week too!
If taylor and Burroughs wrestle again I think Burroughs will beat him. I don't like the new criteria. Back when I wrestled when it was a tie they wrestled until someone scored. That, in my opinion, is how you determine a winner. Not criteria. Because if I recall that match the only reason Taylor won was because Burroughs slipped and Taylor got the takedown and the end result was a tie and ultimately criteria is what won for Taylor. Good match though.
@@sabrewolf9567 Yeah true. I just feel like if Burroughs hadn't slipped and it were old school rules then Burroughs gets the W in overtime. But a win is a win. Taylor doesn't move like he use to. I think because of his size now and because he got hurt.
@@mikeohara5083 ya I mean great match and could go either way but you gotta imagine this is his first competition match in two years. I think once he starts getting some tourneys under his belt he’ll be back to the scoring animal he was.
There is a funny story behind this. According to Jordan he had tried to contact the coach of St. Eds three times before finally getting a response. Jordan who wasn't exactly fond of St. Eds tells their coach. I'm sorry but you'll have to call me back two more times. So the St. Eds coach calls him back and is like "are you serious right now" and Jordan responds with "that's two" and hangs up. So the St. Eds coach calls again and Jordan responds "that's three."
Iowa has a great college history...often by taking great wrestlers from PA. But in HS...Pa is number One, Ohio number Two, Jersey Number Three...Iowa is down the list
I was in high school same time as them and I remember hearing about how packed this gym was just for these 2. Legendary at the time and still legendary today.
Jeff Jordan said this was the greatest match he’s ever coached. I believe him.
Man I love that. There’s nothing like high school wrestling for a young man to be an individual champion amongst the team.
I wrestled for Mead high school in spokane washington in the late 80's, during the Vision Quest era (the movie was filmed there), and let me tell you...EVERY match looked like this. Absolutely packed gyms going wild. My glory days, I miss them.
I wrestled for Kennewick 84 to 88 and our home arena was like a Roman arena. Miss those days.
Two of my sons wrestled for Mead. Kevin and Chris Lease. Gym always packed
Small world. I wrestled in Washington State and graduated in 2018. Anyway, Mead High School was always putting out good wrestlers...
I went to a Collin Palmer camp 2 years ago. Insanely knowledgeable and freakishly athletic, it sucks that he suffered from so many injuries.
He was going toe to toe with a future gold medalist. And was dominating him early, cardio cardio cardio. I like Palmer
What ended his career? A back injury ?
Never gets old, seen this match at least 5 times.
That skinny kid grew into an NCAA champ and Olympic favorite. What a monster he is now.
champion!
This just makes me miss the crowds at wrestling matches. It's weird having Duels in gyms with empty bleachers.
A virus so deadly that you have tone tested to know if you have it or not.
Ummm my district barely had a wrestling program so my bleachers were always empty
I know, theres no cheering as you walk up no loud yelling during the match no cheering nothing. Just a coach and some buddies
@Bill White wow, pretty pathetic letting "democrats" live in your head all rent free and shit.
Definitely a wrestling town. You would never see a crowd that size at an average high school for a wrestling match.
Welcome to Ohio lol
Their was a guy from New Jersey there. He had a layover in Columbus, rented a car and drove over for the day!
Looked like a Dual at Perry Oklahoma High school or the finals at the Perry Tourn of Champions. Got to love it.
Illinios packs gymnasiums like this every weekend....
In HS I wrestled in NJ and almost every varsity match was that crowed. I coached in Florida and not even that crowded at the districts.
This video only confirmed for me how much I love wrestling.
Such a shame Collin had to stop wrestling because of injuries. He was supposed to be the next big thing like David.
@@cheejudo
He gave Taylor a great fight. Not many people can say they did that

This match would have been amazing to see in person.
That's me all the way at the top, in the middle. You can hear me and my brother yelling after the stall call.
What year? What was the score?
I could only dream of a crowd like that at our high school

DT also gave Logan Steiber his only high school loss
That's who I actually thought this was!!
2 great wrestlers
Some vision quest stuff right there.
The mat looks so small After watching so many college matches on youtube.
What a flippen match 👏!
Collin had injuries, David had Kyle Dake. Neither could overcome the other.
You say that like David Taylor didn’t win 2 natty titles still😂
