I love when plant people make the jump to orchids…. Most of the orchids do best repotted at the point in their life cycle when they are about to grow new roots. This is more true if you change media type. You are going to have so much fun.

I have raised orchids for many years. It is exciting to me that you are buying them. You will be amazing. Mist them, they love it. Remove the moss and do chunky. Just like Hoya's no soggy roots. My fav is Paphs and Vandas. Even if you think the roots are dead, try to plump them up in water. Guess what? I never had pests of any kind. :-) That is a win win!! Enjoy!!!

Hi Alice! We have cushion moss in cool to warm temperate Australia. It thrives in cool temperatures and loves water. It tends to grow rapidly in places with a bit of shade (it doesn’t like lots of light). Often it can be found in the higher altitudes because it enjoys a bit of frost. Hope this helps a bit with caring for it !

It's not really the accent, more like a cadence of sentences. And then I remember that Charmaine actually mentioned knowing the actor who played Jason so it all makes sense now :)
If there's an orchid you shouldn't have; its a vanda. they require daily watering because they arent typically kept in pots but in a basket specifically made for them.
It’s better to repot orchids when they’re well watered. It makes the roots less brittle and it’s easier to tell live from dead ones
