The #1 reason to not use alcohol is that it has no benefit. Once you really embrace that mindset, you will not need anything else to stop.

That’s a good way to look at it. I definitely didn’t benefit much from drinking. Mostly a hindrance in my life.

@@jigilous yep! I'm an anxious person, and I love how I feel with a nice buzz. I like the person I am at that point. Not drunk, but not so stressed with so many inhibitions. Makes it hard to stop when I hate the person I am without alcohol's assistance. 😅

I have been alcohol free for 6 years, lost my husband of 52 years to this chemical, he was a Vietnam war veteran, and I believe used to NUM. God rest his soul👣🙏🏼 So wonderful to know young folks are finding sobriety while they still have many years to enjoy freedom from a chemical dependency. God bless you and keep you in his care. Thank you for your honesty. 🤝

I will hit two years 100% sober in June. I agree with you about the non-alcoholic beer comment. I stopped after twenty-five years of beer drinking. I gave it up on my 45th b-day. The first year was tough, actually first 90 days was a real challenge - but trust me, if you are reading this - it gets so much easier. Smooth sailing these days. Great video, I have subscrided.

Good video. I gave up my love affair with white wine on Sept 26. I twisted the knob on my wine box around 5 pm most every night to let in the good feelings of another day worth living. I perfected my drinking style over 50 yrs as I started at 17 1/2 yrs old and justed turned 68. The white wine, mainly the Chardonnay variety, was my preferred drink the last 20 yrs. I did have occasional 'look in the mirror' conversations about my health but my desire to drink was too passionate. I had a big heart attack on Sept 26 and that settled the nightly drinking. My desire for drinking went away and the wine box went in the recycle bin. My health is improving everyday. Not drinking has been a delight as it's opened up my mornings and made me a better social person. I was surprised that my drinking secluded me to others. I really like my life and my attitude to living since I quit. I can't see any reason to drink again.

    Congratulations, Chelsey!
My wife and I quit alcohol 11 months ago and it was the best decision we've ever made.
It seems to us that the key is realizing that life is enjoyable without alcohol. There is a fear that life will be boring without alcohol, but it's really the opposite. Life is much better without it.
Glad you're back making videos. You're really good! Keep it up!

I love your suggestions, I agree. Sometimes food and sweets is ok in the beginning. Finding a good beverage you love is a must..mine is ice sparkling water and so many flavors.

Great topic and ideas. I am on day 140 or so. I have been drinking socially for 35 years and tried a 60 day sober journey a few times. I liked how I felt. Sleep, focus, energy, joint pain, and much more improved. I also hated the hangovers and that feeling of regret the following day. My relationship has improved with being sober. I am fine going out and having a nonalcoholic IPA. Many of my friends ask why I am not drinking…and I just say I am taking a break. I did 2 social trips to Florida with big party friends and never drank and they didn’t notice much….or pressure me. My productivity at work and in my second job is much better as well. I am shooting for a one year goal, but may continue for longer too. I don’t miss much other than the taste of an IPA or margarita…. But I wake up happy. Good luck on your journey. 😎

Stopped drinking 6 days ago. I’m a “one is too many and a thousand is never too much” type of person. I’m this way with food and of the last 2 years the same way with alcohol. I did stop drinking for 9 months in 2022. But then thought I could have one drink on special occasions or when going out to dinner. As you know that just keeps evolving until I was drinking daily. I rarely had a hangover but I just felt like I was poisoning my body. So at almost 63 years old I’m going to stop drinking for good. I really love this video and your 5 suggestions. 10:00 am est.

I believe I am going to try to quit altogether and go beyond January as I really don't miss it. Well, I DO have had days where I get 'weak' (Sunday football... Haha), but perservere through it. Noticable changes? I am sleeping better, my mind is much clearer, and basically just feel more in control of my life. Anyhow, maybe on Jan 17 2025 I'll check back in with you and say.... I was a year sober, I'm now struggling to have 'fun' or connecting moments with people around me & have a sense of 'boredom'. I had a few drinks last night, regretting it and planning on getting sober again, but I just don't know how to find people who are happy and fun and don't need alcohol to have fun. I'm 20, at uni, and everyone drinks.

"while being sober might be less conventional, that's okay... that's just more reason to be proud of yourself" I loved that comment. I am 9 months sober after 3 decades of partying pretty hard, and it's the best decision i ever made. Allen Carr's book is what changed it all for me. I'm 52 years old. Now, i don't even desire alcohol, which is amazing because I drank most days during those 30+ years. It was truly a lifestyle for me. Congratulations on your journey! great video
