My first Sony Ericsson phone when I was a kid was W800. The first Walkman phone. That was around the same time Nokia released their XpressMusic series. Crazy how both brands are not the biggest names in smartphones in the present.
Never had a working Sony Ericsson (my family's carrier never supported them) but I always wanted one. I only heard great things about them from my friends.
I was a big fan of Sony Ericsson. The 2 things that kept me buying them were their consistent OS (All the models had familiar OS) and the interesting designs. The OS was very user friendly and super easy to use. In the home menu, I could choose by just pushing a number button as the shortcut keys.
I have an Xperia xa2, it's a great phone and i will still be using Xperias for years to come I never knew that ericsson became xperia, I thought they were different series, I had an ericsson when I was very very young just to play games, and I plan for my phone history to start with ericsson and end with xperia
so i had an xa2, then i got an xperia 10 and both of them were shite, and the good xperias are too expensive to i just got a oneplus nord ce2 lite 5g@@DoodleDan
Xperia is just the phone line. They brought out Xperia mobiles when Sony and Ericsson were still together. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 was the first Xperia phone.
Mobile phone with color on the screen, high quality sound. Good pictures and video. My last Sony Ericsson was a W200 that lasted 2 years until my mother bought me a Blackberry. My favorite Sony Ericsson models were mostly on their final years like the W580i; the W600 I saw on MTV LATAM and one my mother had the W810 which I liked compared to my Motorola or Nokia at the time.
I use sony phones almost exclusively - had Nokia N95 8GB and Evolveo Q4.5 before I bought Xperia M4 Aqua. Now I have XZ1 and waiting for Xperia 1 IV. Longevity of those phones is insane - M4 Aqua still serves as moms daily driver.
They are still the de facto in the pre iPhone era. They were successful in creating a multimedia player with the walkman series, that literally changed how people listen to music who do not want to go thought the hassle of an iPod.
I got a W810 in 2006 and it was amazing for the time. It even fell out of my pocket while riding a motorbike at 110kph and SURVIVED. I kept using it until 2011! After my first smartphone, the iPhone 4, I decided to give Xperia a try and it was a massive disappointment. I had the Z3 in 2015 and it didn't live up to its waterproof status, letting water in the first time I put it under the tap. I had to replace several components to keep it running, but the camera was never the same again. Also, after its first major update, it had bugs all over the place, and battery life dropped substantially. Build quality wasn't anywhere near the iPhone's either, so I ended up moving back to Apple. Fast forward to 2021, and I decided to give Android another shot, this time with Samsung. Boy was I in for a treat, still loving it to this day :)
Sony ericson K600i was my first cellphone. It was almost perfect if only for it's lack of an MMC slot and faulty design of a headphone jack. Had a w350i which was a slight step down on features. But a step up as a music player. Proprietary ericson mmcs are expensive asf. Xperia go was my first smartphone and I love it. Played games, watch movies and surf the net with it. I still have it to this day. I was planning to go get the z but I lost my job. When I got back, I switched to samsung since xperia phones are pricey.
1:40 that phone was the BEST, i still miss it, but sadly i couldn't find another charger for it. it had SOOOO MANY GAMES that i love to play over and over again! i never got bored of it, but i don't think internet on it would work anymore tho...
I had T610 just when it came out, the phone was perfect but turned me into a douchebag, at the time most people thought 3310 was still cool. The next and last Sony phone I ever bought was Xperia Mini. In the end I stopped at iPhones which in my youth I called grandma phones... I got old. I miss the experiments with designs of 90s and 00s, I miss Nokia's alien designs, I miss being satisfied with VGA cameras and reading books on a 2 inch screen.
Sony concentrates on the niche segment of phone users and bups up the price like crazy... Thats why they have no succes... They need to make high end phone like samsung with those cool niche features. Make elegand design like they did with original xperia z ... Then i see success
The best was W810i, god, the sound quality on that was something else. It even came with mini speakers. Flagship or not, Hrithik the brand ambassador of Sony made a dance video with that phone.
i loved sony ericsson phones my first phone was a W600I and then later the xperia cant remember witch one to be presice. but my best ever phone i ever had was the sony xperia Z5 premium and i saved 2 paychacks for that one. was the first phone with 4k camera and also 4k screen wich is still pretty insane. it lasted 4 years. i still miss that phone. truly one best phones ever when it came out. sony phones where underated. but they have basicly given up on the western marked and sticking to japan.
I almost forgot those brands once existed .... cause now i bet that most people only have samsung or i phones... u don't see big brands like nokia...motorola etc. anymore these days ... i don't know if the company still sell these brands
Always had SONYS and theyve always been amazing - ever since before the touch screens they were cool looking, fast, reliable, good photo, car seiss lenses even before apple iphones came, sleek design with good buttons like the Sony Ericsson Cedar, then came the water proof Z1 series, the XZ series was lightning fast, the L1-L4 I have alsoe had, affordable reliable, upgradeable, some of them I have now I still use and the battery still good after half a decade. I now have had XZ Premiums, the Xperia 10 I through IV , and have tried many of the other "flagships. I used to have the K810 and have had almost all the others back pre touch screens too like the W800 and the rest of the walkman series . And no, I am not paid by Sony to write this :D :D :D I just always loved their design - and what some called "boring design" I see as classics that stand the test of time - some of the washing dish soap bars sold of almost all brands but seemed to be permanent with iphones for a long time I just cant stand. But I think the main reason sony didnt compete, was that people are just dumb: iphones are not better, their just like Levis jeans - if they THINK they look good, then theyll buy it - in reality iphones have less options, less apps, worse memory, more expensive for less RAM, inability to upgrade, etc - so people buy them now because they are simple to use, because "everyone" "has" to have one, and because they are expensive, and so it somhow signals that they are "rich" / successful. All of which are fake arguments and not really anything to do with better quality. the iphones batteries were worse, the OS degrade over time, the choice in apps is horrible, and apple's behaviour is almost worse than microsoft when it comes to putting the user into an apple iphone jail they can never get out of. not speak of the HORRIBLE software interface you used to need to even TRY to get a single mp3 or picture out of a phone and into a regular laptop. I mean for a decade people neded HELP to get a photo from their phone to a laptop or computer :D :D :D and if you dont agree with this or think this is exaggeration: visit Louis Rossman's youtube channel - and he repairs apple products and doesnt necessarily even hate iphones.
I'm going to restore my k750i and w810, they've been in storage for a long time and I need something to help with my screen time on the iPhone, so going back a decade will be refreshing 😌
I'm really surprised the Experia Play hasn't made a comeback yet, or at least a similar design. Mobile gaming is extremely popular and that still remains a brilliant design to incorporate physical controls into a phone.
I used xperia 1 or something. It was a beat. But what turned me over was my excessive use of samsung phones. But sonys phones has different features than Samsung which makes sony mobile still in the market I believe. Their cameras are my greater than Samsung. 4k and their screens is good. But I couldn't switch. Thing is when u get used to stuff
Everyone tried to be an iPhone, which was Death. They should try to be NOT iphones = small, light, sliders, more storage, open standards, free integration into playstation / TVs, etc. Apple did the iphone, itunes, ipad, Mac integration, locking people in. Sony had a great base with PlayStations... tying small light phones into their product line and Ample Sony music collection with a free 1 year subscription to Sony music could have saved the day.
I think a lot of it comes from names too. Like iPhone, LG, and Samsung having a better tune to it, just like Facebook sounds better then new released social medias. It's not 100% about Android users not having the budget 💀

I wish their design language at least remained, instead, Apple changed the aesthetic trend with boring and less functional design, and it did the same with the iPod replacing the integrated Walkman. Ironically, the only good design from Apple, the iPhone 4 is heavily inspired by the Sony design language.
I remembered when i had one of these phone as a teenage .... in my time as a teen it felt so cool to have it ..cause these phone were such a hit .... but now we are living in a time where anyone could have a cellphones ...even a kid could have one... so there is nothing cool or special when having a cellphone🤣😂

I am using as a second phone a sony ericsson w810i, the use and the sound quality is so great, greater than from my main phone that i got in 2020
