Probably a lot. I don't even think I want to know how many concepts there are. I'm not Activision and as a solo dev I work in a different way than they do... but I just know that I personally had like 7 concepts before I came to my somewhat final idea. And I wouldn't expect Activision to do it differently.

I believe with Ghosts, alot of players were getting into Battlefield and loved the destruction aspect, and Ghost said alot of things that didnt like up to the hype, especially with destruction. It overall didnt feel fun as Black Ops 2 and Modern Warfare 3. It felt like the start of a super step backwards

i remember hearing about this game as a kid, it was supposed to be a continuation of mw3 and i remember being crazy hyped for it because it was gonna include price (the ending of mw3 was goated) but then ghosts got announced and EVERYONE was pissed. lmao
the actual history behind this seems to be far more interesting. seems it started as a desperate attempt to fill the 2013 cod slot since much of IW split off to form respawn. instead neversoft helped develop other cod games around that time and i'm gonna guess the bit of work that went into this was used for ghost and aw instead. both having a more futuristic theme just like this.

Everyone is looking back with nostalgia but let's be real here guys. Everyone would have hated this game just as much as Ghosts. MW3 already felt dated with Black Ops already being out. Could you imagine if they released this for next gen consoles AFTER Black Ops 2? Even with that extra year there's just no way.
I feel like this wasn't even intended on being a full game, or it was but instead it was used to build ideas off of for future games. The assets of Modern warfare being copied and pasted into this just screams it wasn't trying to be its own thing, rather just library of ideas which they eventually used in future call of duties.

Like treyarch used Bo2 as a foundation to make Bo3 and infinity ward used ghosts as a foundation to create infinite warfare. There’s loads of videos showing alpha gameplay of some of these games and they have a bunch of assets being used as place holders.

Tbh I really would have liked this game too. I remember when me and the boys played older COD's like ghosts on a Ps3 on Splitscreen and had a great time. Sure this would have made fun too. As soon as AW released one of them said to me it was the second part of ghosts, I have to say in first it didn't made any sense to me bc I mostly played multiplayer. Now I know what he wanted to explain me back then, it now makes sense that this is some sort of "prequel" at least in terms of naming. Yeah, I tested xLink Kai with another friend of mine and we still weren't able to connect to eachother. We figured out if we kept tryna make lobbies and join, it eventually worked out of trial-and-error 💯✨

Its like finding an ancient relic Cant w8 until it's available on an emulator to test it out. I realized yesterday that a lot of split-screen games on emulators are harder to download and find like CoD5WaW on ps3 to play zombies maybe it's just a coincidence because emulation is relatively newborn or it's actively done to divide guy's further and further, really weird that split-screen gaming is dead in today's gaming turning everyone into independent/individual gamers because of "Money", like wtf.... maybe valve could bring it back to life with steam platform PC mods for example because i don't see xbox or PlayStation having any future anymore. This build was made in 2011, so if it was to release in 2013 which would also align with the PS4 and Xbox One. This game would be really different to what this build has to offer. Honestly I am sad that Neversoft got dissolved into Infinity Ward as we got Ghosts instead.
It’s crazy how things could’ve been so different if this game were to release. It did seem too ambitious and spontaneous of a game though (at least the dev build did! Who knows what the final product could’ve been) 💯✨
3:42 Not sure if that's the case with CoD, but certain devs do hide features and make them difficult to trigger, if they aren't intended to be used. In case of a leaked build. And it resembles MW2 so much, because you mostly use the base of the previous thing you released. Same reason as to why stuff like the Windows 98 Beta was recognized as "Windows 95", since it was also based on it. And yes, I know. Windows isn't a game, but it follows the same concept.
Cod ghosts was my favorite. I was 11 in the world all time for domination and 90 in the world all time for blitz. Name was xTRYallDAYx . Ahhh the good times 😢

Now I'm expecting a version of CoD WaW where instead of Nazi Zombies, we have the D-Day trench defense, which was supposed to come out at first, but devs thought it was too much and made Nazi Zombies instead, and the devs ended up having more fun with the zombies mode than D-Day mode. In the D-Day Mode you'd play as a Nazi soldier shooting from a trench with a mounted gun.
You know just to keep people happy until the next major next installment of call of duty comes out this game would actually do really well just add in while running trust me
You can see how they were just mashing stuff together. I like the red dot sight with the 4x scope reticle. Some of the guns are multiple guns from different games with tweaked geometry it's really cool. This looks like a really really early prototype, more like concepts for the sake of vision very cool.
I was one of the few who actually really enjoyed Ghosts, BUT this looks like it had ALOT of potential and probably would have done better than Ghosts. Man do i miss the OG days of COD. Sad they went the way they have haha
If you want a real sad cancelled game from the franchise: Call of duty: ROMAN I think it was called years ago, where it was going to be a complete spinoff but set in the Roman Empire era

This build was made in 2011, so if it was to release in 2013 which would also align with the PS4 and Xbox One. This game would be really different to what this build has to offer. Honestly I am sad that Neversoft got dissolved into Infinity Ward as we got Ghosts instead.
It’s crazy how things could’ve been so different if this game were to release. It did seem too ambitious and spontaneous of a game though (at least the dev build did! Who knows what the final product could’ve been) 💯✨

I could actually say I ALWAYS had fun playing ghosts and others but I honestly haven’t been able to say that in years.
3:42 Not sure if that's the case with CoD, but certain devs do hide features and make them difficult to trigger, if they aren't intended to be used.

Cod ghosts was my favorite. I was 11 in the world all time for domination and 90 in the world all time for blitz. Name was xTRYallDAYx . Ahhh the good times 😢

Now I'm expecting a version of CoD WaW where instead of Nazi Zombies, we have the D-Day trench defense, which was supposed to come out at first, but devs thought it was too much and made Nazi Zombies instead, and the devs ended up having more fun with the zombies mode than D-Day mode.
In the D-Day Mode you'd play as a Nazi soldier shooting from a trench with a mounted gun.
You know just to keep people happy until the next major next installment of call of duty comes out this game would actually do really well just add in while running trust me
You can see how they were just mashing stuff together. I like the red dot sight with the 4x scope reticle. Some of the guns are multiple guns from different games with tweaked geometry it's really cool. This looks like a really really early prototype, more like concepts for the sake of vision very cool.

I was one of the few who actually really enjoyed Ghosts, BUT this looks like it had ALOT of potential and probably would have done better than Ghosts. Man do i miss the OG days of COD. Sad they went the way they have haha
If you want a real sad cancelled game from the franchise: Call of duty: ROMAN I think it was called years ago, where it was going to be a complete spinoff but set in the Roman Empire era
