I think some people might feel safer in a campground. As a guy, I'd rather just sleep in the woods, but I can see how a single female might feel different.
95% of the time I'm in a governement affiliated campground. That's mainly due to me hauling the tent trailer. This year I will be trying to do more dispersed camping when I am out west. I but have already made reservations in places like Yellowstone in July and August but will wing it more after Labour Day. I find the campgrounds get a lot quieter in the fall. Pulling a trailer is a different game. It's like apples and oranges compared to someone who is off-road prepared. I still try to ush the envelope however and get myself in trouble and then. I hate to plan ahead so thats why I'm best traveling alone at my own pace. There are times when I'll set up in a strip mall right under the canopy of an abandoned grocery store. Perhaps a Walmart store. I've done it before. what's cool is I always seem to find somewhere even if it means climbing up on top of the bunkhouse at a rest area or side of the road pull off and throwing out my mattress pad. LOL Perhaps I'm so comfortable doing this because I was a truck driver for so long. I've found most truck stops don't mind if I st up off in the corner of the car parking area.

Sorry, but I find this kind of content critiquing others to be very negative and a bad reflection on the person doing the critiquing. As the old saying goes, "If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all." As an "online personality" or "influencer" (aka a random talking head often with an inflated sense of their opinions actual merit, value or worth), one should never critique someone else doing the same as it just makes you look bad or appear jealous of that person's success. Rather than doing this video questioning her and what she's doing, you could have easily just done a video on the benefits and/or upsides of camping on public land to convey the same message without ever referencing Amanda or using clips from her content to bolster your own. @@MrFurious1993 you make good points.Particularly since the warning at the beginning had nothing to do with the comments you made. I found MotoGiant to get nasty and claim I didn't pay attention to his disclaimer just because I asked questions. Peace.
It seems like she used to genuinely enjoy camping and motorcycling, especially when she started making videos about it. But now, it's become more of a chore, something she dreads like any other job. You can see the change in her demeanor; it's written all over her face. She was the first motorcycle camper I started following, but sadly, I have to admit, I don't watch her anymore. I don't feel like I have the right to criticize camping because, truth be told, I'm the type who hauls around all the camping gear but always ends up staying in motels no matter the cost. Maybe if I actually did more camping and less motel-ing, I'd learn to enjoy it. But by the end of the day, I'm just exhausted with the idea, and I think, "Forget it, let's just get a room." After all, it's just money, and they print more of it every day.
I think any Content Creator and their material will "evolve" a bit over time. I've also watched Amanda for quite some time and will continue to. However, I see how the opinion you seem to have could be influenced. She is now promoting companies. selling a new cookbook, etc,..etc,.. She has hit the proverbial gold mine on sponsors because she projects a down home, family oriented, get out and go mentality. I don't think wher3e she is sleeping will have much effect on her channel. People like her. She is currently beginning to "reap' what she has sown so to speak. Nothing wrong with that. For me, like Jim (OldGuyOnABike), I pull a trailer camper and have to be very selective about where I can stay. I get your question about why she doesn't choose more BLM, off-grid an d far away spots for camping sine she has a strong off-road motorcycle, but, it's what she does. For me, I like to get as off-road as I can, sometimes traversing gravel roads and things I probably should be on. Anyway....not a bad video. Stay safe out there and maybe we'll see you on the road this summer.
Her motivation for campgrounds is obviously strong, as who would put up with the crap she has shard in her vids without strong incentive. My guess is the motivation is fear based? If it was anything else, it could be overcome with some simple tools like Google Earth, Maps, or a bit of research. I am very curious as to what is directing her choices - as she seems very motivated and intelligent. I would enjoy crossing paths this summer, I would LOVE to explore a bit more about the trailer-pulling life, as I continue to entertain that alternative - I have questions!
I think most paid campsite moto campers don't realize that the hassles of a paid campsite are comparable to that of finding a dispersed campsite, at least in the time spent. I'd argue that free camping is much less hassle than paid camping because I hate dealing with people and making reservations. I'd much rather do some online pre-scouting to find a general area that's likely to have camping opportunities then spend some time finding a good campsite when I reach the general destination. If I'm not so stupid as to arrive at dark, exploring the area to choose a campsite is part of the fun. The people who prefer to make campsite reservations and stay in paid campsites must place a high value of the false sense of certainty and are extremely averse to not having a precise plan or are very afraid of being asked to leave because they are not following the rules. I hate hotels for the same reasons I hate designated campsites - too many people and too many hassles.
I have at least one friend, a couple years older than myself, who just don't want to camp. I'm too old .... Yada yada yada. I do have schedule driven friends who begrudge the time spent setting up and tearing down, cooking, cleaning up after, as taking time away from the riding. Personally, I enjoy the camping, the cooking out, the solitude. I have one friend who left a ride because nobody had reservations in motels every night! He absolutely couldn't stand not having the trip laid out with an itinerary to follow. Different strokes for different folks, I've always been a different duck. 🦆 Quack quack Ride Safe👋
@@xtphreak - I'm a Ride to Camp guy AND a Camp to Ride guy. To me, the hassles of going into town to find a motel and check in are much more than finding a primitive campsite for the night. I'd much rather be in the woods. It's not a minor preference. I love being in the woods and I hate being in a hotel. On longer trips, I can definitely see getting a motel to take a shower, but I'd much rather buy a $15 shower at a truck stop or carry a solar shower sack.
You’re right. There’s so much dispersed camping out here. It safer, cleaner and quieter than any campground. It’s also free so getting used to it only costs the gas to get there.
Last Saturday, I'd finished packing up camp so I started helping my friend Matt. We've camped together a lot since the late 1970s but Matt is new to moto camping. I picked up his yellow shower curtain that he uses as a ground fly, draped it over my shoulders as a cape and ran around camp. "What the hell are you doing?" I told him about Amanda's ritual. Carson's Second Rule Of Comedy: It's never funny if you need to explain it.
Hate I missed THAT one! I will soon record my version, not sure why that little bit has escaped all my trips so far, as it has been on the bit-list for some time?
I watched Amanda's video on dispersed camping and it was very good. I was hoping she'd start doing more dispersed camping after that but... nope. I've also seen her videos where she has a very accurate breakdown of expenses, she tries hard to find less expensive hotels and campsites, and she laments working and saving money so she can pay for her moto camping, and I don't understand why she isn't spending $20/day instead of $80/day.
@@MotoGiant - I knew I was low balling on Amanda's daily expenses but I was too lazy to find and watch the video again, but $150 sounds much more accurate given that she mostly stays at Holiday Inn, with maybe a third of the nights spent in lesser motels or paid camp grounds, and she likes to eat at nicer restaurants, whereas I don't buy paper towels or toilet paper because Taco Bell napkins are free. 😲
Yes dude yes. Free plastic sporks and condiments at 7/11, wawa, royal farm store or whatever in your neck of the woods. Also i take my hard side cooler into those places n fill with ice for any meats or food that needs a cooler. Never been thrown out yet. Rock on BROTHER.@@Liberty4Ever
Amanda would have a MUCH easier time dispersed camping if she was hanging in a hammock instead of needing a flat spot for a tent. Maybe hammock camping is Amanda's gateway to free dispersed camping in the tranquil wilderness instead of paying $45/night for vault toilets, barking dogs, screaming kids and RV generators.
I think everyone that still wallows around on the ground like a savage needs to spend one day, and one night riding and camping with a civilized camper - change their world for sure!

A KOA wasn't nice? That's weird.
Dude like I totally agree. That's why I stopped watching her
Like a lot of these TH-camrs they start out one way any after they get a bunch of followers they change things up
Yuup
It's the internet Karen's are abundant. Your post is the flypaper, the Karen's are the flies.
Always fun to play with the flies :)
KOAs SUCK!

Ride Safe👋
Hahaha, Female fanny, Awesome ! Love this guy
I watched one of her breakdowns, and I remember more like $150/day?
Moto journalism at its best! Ask the hard questions. Go where others dare not tread. Find the truth! …OR…Moto Evangelist. Amanda, we can save y’all. Walk Amanda, walk with me away from the KOA devil. Shed your sins and be free! Sweet Jeezus!
The good book says: Tho I walk thru the valley, I shall not stay the night at KOA !!
