I love Ashanti's soft vocals and she is a great songwriters. I absolutely love this record. Ja Rule's roughness and Ashanti's sweetness go together quite well. It was a massive Pop hit, it reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Ashanti random fact: She came out with a clothing line featuring jeans. They were designed for women that had curvy thighs and space for some extra booty. It helped a lot of girls and women gain some confidence (including me and my family). It had a smaller waist and they were super cute.
My childhood! That nostalgic feeling is indescribable sometimes. Murda Inc basically sums up the early 2000's lol. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing Ja and Ashanti. Ashanti is in the Guinness Book of World Records for highest-selling female debut. Ja gets clowned a lot, mostly because of 50, but he also came up with DMX and Jay-Z so he wasn't a pushover. One of my favorite collabs from them both is "Down 4 U". Whitney & Bobby make a cameo in the video; it isn't on TH-cam though.
Dmx and ja rule were cool with eachother when they came out and almost formed a rap group with jayz under irv gotti.. of course the egos were to big to do it but irv told ja to focus more on R&B hits to set himself apart from DMX
This is when Ja Rule & Murder Inc had the radio & charts on fire other Ja Rule & Ashanti songs you should check out are “Always On Time” “Down 4 U”. lndividually though they have too many to name.

Just wanted to point out the fact that you’re doing AN EXCELLENT job. Your enthusiasm, passion and curiosity for music that some of us hold dear. Sacred even. It’s part of who we are. It’s served as the soundtrack for our lives. It’s important. So thank you for taking it seriously. Keep in mind, you bring an impressive amount of knowledge and insight to the game. Try to remember those things the next time you find yourself apologizing for stopping the song. And definitely try to stop refering to yourself as “ignorant” and/or just assuming you are. None of us are the end all be all authorities on this shit. You should be able to ask questions without having to worry about somebody getting shitty with you in the comments (more some other time on my breakdown of individuals who engage in such disgusting behavior). Again, you’re doing a really good job. I just stumbled upon your channel earlier today and I’ve watched quite a few of your reactions already. You’re clearly putting in a lot of work on your channel and it shows

DMX came out in 1998 and Ja Rule came out in 1999. Here is a lil backstory for you: Jay Z, DMX and Ja Rule were suppose to be in a supergroup called Murder Inc. before the label was named Murder. Inc Records. Murder Inc ceo/Producer/DJ Irv Gotti started Murder Inc. Irv Gotti been in the industry since 1987. He met Jay Z in 1987 and met DMX in 1988. He’s friends with them to this day. Jay and DMX use to rap battle each others many times in the late 80 and early 90s. DMX and Jay Z never liked each other. Irv Gotti made beats for Jay Z and DMX plus he helped them get exposure in the industry. Irv Gotti discovered Ja Rule around 93-94. Irv was doing music and managed a rapper from Queens name Mic Geronimo. Ja Rule, DMX and Jay Z recorded a song on Mic Geronimo in 1995 called “Time to Build”, which was produced by Irv Gotti, who also went by the name DJ Irv. This was before they blew up. Ja Rule, Jay Z and DMX recorded many songs together before and during their solo careers. They never released an album together because they were bumping heads especially DMX and Jay Z. Years go by and around 2016, they all squashed their beef and they’re cool with other now. Here is their 1999 XXL Magazine front cover and back cover of their picture. www.pinterest.com/pin/401242648021957123/
That's right it's Grease. One of my favorite movies. John Travolta and Olivia Newton John's song "You're The One That I Want" was the song they interpreted and did a twist
If I'm not mistaken DMX came out a little bit before Ja Rule but it was still kinda around the same time. Actually Jay Z in a way introduced Ja Rule to the masses outside of New York with his song that he featured Ja Rule on. You should react to Can I Get A by Jay Z ft Ja Rule & Amil. You should also react to some songs with Ja Rule and some of the other artists on his label (Murda Inc)...react to We Murderers Baby by Vita ft Ja Rule, Down Ass Bitch by Ja Rule ft Charlie Baltimore, and Down 4 U by Ja Rule ft Ashanti, Vita, & Charlie Baltimore. At that time there were quite a few independent record labels running the rap game. After Tupac and Biggie died it left the field open for other rap labels to come up. The independent record labels that started running shit on the east coast were Rocafella (Jay Z, Beanie Segal, Memphis Bleek, & Amil), Ruff Ryders (DMX, Eve, The Lox, Drag On, and Swiss Beatz), and Murda Inc (Ja Rule, Ashanti, Vita, Charlie Baltimore, Llyod, and Irv Gotti). The most popular independent record labels from the south at that time were No Limit (Master P, Silk The Shocker, C Murder, & Mia X) and Cash Money (Juvenile, Lil Wayne, BG, Lil Turk, Birdman, and Mannie Fresh). Then you also had the Midwest starting to have some new popular artists come out around that time too (Eminem & Nelly). At that time EVERYBODY was eating...the radio stations were playing EVERYBODY...if it was good it was getting played. I wish it was still like that because the radio sucks nowadays 😂.

You should have started with “Always on Time” it was their first collaboration. Actually, you did the I’m Real Remix with Jlo and Ja Rule which Ashanti sang background vocals and also blended Jlos voice with Ashanti’s.
There was a song by “Smilez & Southstar -Tell Me” that came out the same year as this song. Both songs had the same exact beat , you should check that video out one day

Yes! The original Murder, Inc. (Jay-Z, DMX and Ja Rule). I used to have Ja Rule's song "It's Murda" with the three of them in heavy rotation.
Fact's only! RIP DMX

DMX was first, Ja Rule was like a more R&B version of him. DMX was way more raw and street and didn't do love song duets.
It was crazy cuz they wound up beefin over who copied who.
Thankyou that's what I'm trying to say
