I came to this video to hear Fran but came away from it much more impressed by Ritchie Torres. It is always heartening to hear someone like him who can make a valuable contribution to those who need his help. Who need our help.
I watched for Fran, love that woman, but Congressman Torres hit the nail right on the head for me, you get absolutely nothing being a caretaker for elderly parents, no help, no time off, no tax breaks, struggles with costs, and many others. Comparing childcare with elderly care, it’s almost the same, with the exception of dementia. Dementia care is a total nightmare, 24/7 on guard, everything has to be locked, nothing makes any sense, exhausting! There really should be some kind help for people who have to take on elderly care, it is difficult.
There is no one better than Fran Lebowitz to tell the absolute 100 percent unvarnished truth. It is such breath of fresh air. And yes, smoking is an addiction. It was such an ordeal for me to stop -- and I had been smoking with parental permission from the age of 13 -- long before the "Hazardous to your Health" warning. I don't think I could ever quit again. What a nightmare. Fran likes to smoke -- live and let live! Everyone has the right to make their own choices.
Fran and Richie are truly two of America’s shinning stars. Fran’s life’s work and commentaries are timeless. I hope Richie runs for president some day. He’s a great speaker with great ideas and the empathy that voters often demand from their elected officials.
Mr. Torres reminds me of the fact that we still Do Not have a adequate federal minimum wage law!... despite having Two Democratic administrations... this causes the homelessness that we see around the country. I love Fran Leibowitz, been watching her since the 70's... it's a shame that CBS cut her off at the end of the interview here.
If I had been Fran's agent I would have bought her a tape recorder and had her just record conversations for more books. It must've been fun to have her as a dinner guest or friend.
Watching the Ritchie Torres segment gave me something that I haven't had. I took care of my father and then my mother for 25 years as they became ill and infirmed. Some of my family and my parents friends who would eventually turn away from them, would like to call me a freeloader while they acknowledge my sacrifice. But, what they never seemed to understand was the sadness. Mr. Torres understands that; I saw him cry and I know he understands what it is like not to be able to turn away and simply immerse yourself in distractions. Being a captive witness to the destruction of your loved ones is one of the saddest things there is in life.
Fran gave a pretty good description of 1950s mothers in middle America. I grew up in a similar suburb outside a big city, as did she. And she's right that AIDS & Covid are not alike in the impact they have had on individuals and society as a whole.
I saw Fran in Arkansas-of all places! I felt like I checked something off my “bucket list” without ever actually making a bucket list!😂 If I had the opportunity to see her again, there is no doubt that I’d be there-front and center!😊
This is totally disturbing. I watched this to see Fran. But she is interrupted by Ritchie Torres. It is not Mr. Torres’ fault, but the fault of CBS. The presentation does nothing to honor either individual. They deserve the continuity they have earned. It demonstrates one very good reason to never watch CBS Sunday Morning again…
the Bronx is definitely NOT the poorest district in the country like the video claim. Maybe in NYC, but there are also places outside of NYC so that claim is not accurate.
I was 10 years old when I read *social studies* . Sometime after that I remember telling an adult that I wanted to be a satirist. I've lived all over the world and spent most of my twenties in Manhattan and I would give anything to have coffee or even a later drink or two with Fran Lebowitz! I would just soak up her commentary like a sponge! _If only the video wasn't so segmented. Not sure why CBS is doing this now._
Took me 15 minutes to hit the like, which I always normally do before hitting play...knew I would go off on another CBS piece for a leftist loon... ACTUALLY ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS WOMAN!!! 😎😁😍😂🤗
CBS just needs to get with 2023 and put the whole interview online. Like others have said...it's not right to cut her off like that. That said, I love Fran as well as a lot of what she has to say. Unfortunately, I don't think she is right on the whole nature thing. I'd ask her what she thinks of Dr. Sapolsky's work with baboons and his findings.
What an insensitive place to cut the video at the end. I know it has to be cut someplace but please. How grossly insensitive to cut it where she’s explaining the ways AIDS and Covid differ.
I did not recognize mo rocca. I remember him a bit from the daily show. His bewildered expressions were throwing me off though. Also how is this an extended interview. Completely cut off at the end
I love and respect Fran Liebowitz, but she is plain wrong about smoking being only "annoying". People do have the right to share public spaces and spaces in public businesses, like restaurants, hotels, even sidewalks, without being forced to be exposed to poisonous gases - exactly like there are municipal laws outlawing distubinrg the peace with outrageously loud sounds, music, even work hours and work sites for building or home construction are regulated. Her views are expressed with humor, as is her skill and talent, but the best humor is based in truth, not distortion.
@@GH-oi2jf Be more concerned about all the second hand smoke/pollution you are ingesting everyday from cars, you can walk away from people who smoke in fact ban cars and let people smoke.
OK, so Lebowitz said something that I either could not articulate or just didn't have the balls to say, and that is that without AIDS, we'd never have gay rights/marriage, certain job protections, etc.. I was a young and gay medical research scientist during the onset of the AIDS epidemic who witnessed this whole thing unfolding. I can say that the AIDS epidemic advanced the modern biotechnology and genetics research that serve patients with other diseases today. But the fact is that AIDS outed many otherwise reluctant guys and shined a light on the prevalence of homosexuality. I fear for the days when outrageously direct, incisive, and funny communicators like Fran Lebowitz are no longer around. Would love to fill her shoes (fantastic cowboy boots) but that seems unlikely. Have a fantasy of sharing Martinis and cigarettes in Business Class between NYC and SFO, but that's never gonna happen, either.

Cutting off Fran at the end mid sentence is a sin
Well it was a minute past lunch time so......get out of the house!
Just when she was about to say something that might trigger someone.
Fran Lebowitz is always a delight! Thank you for having her on your show and for posting this on TH-cam.
I love Fran too, she is indeed a delight.
I came to this video to hear Fran but came away from it much more impressed by Ritchie Torres.

Comparing Fran, a cultural icon, with a Torres, a young pol, is like comparing ... you know what.
we shall see....many say that going in but seldom do anything about it....the rich live off the poor
Thank you.
Best 23 minutes and 37 seconds I've spent in a long while. Fantastic.

Fran Lebowitz is a national treasure.
NO WONDER WE'RE NEARLY BANKRUPT.
Love Fran♥️. So truthful.
And I hope Ritchie goes far. He sounds like a really good person ♥️
Thank you Mo Rocca for leading Fran to talk about the realities of our LGBTQ history.
Which she was totally right on about, as always, imo. 👍
Good old Mo Rocca, I didn't know he was half Colombian..and gay. ☺
New format is disjointed, like an ADD patient. Show the entire interview, don’t interrupt with another story.
Pleaaaaaaase post the rest of the Fran interview!!
totally agree!
Love Fran!

what happened to the end of the interview with Fran- why did you cut her off!!!!
They split the interview.
The end was good

Where’s the FULL INTERVIEW! This is cut off by CBS, wtf
Fran gave a pretty good description of 1950s mothers in middle America. I grew up in a similar suburb outside a big city, as did she. And she's right that AIDS & Covid are not alike in the impact they have had on individuals and society as a whole.
I need to hear from Fran MORE OFTEN!
There’s no way that’s all of Fran’s interview. Please post the full thing!
…and uninterrupted!
Lousy coverage of the Lebowitz interview. Why break it up into parts and cuts off half her comments?
Ritchie Torres is an inspiration. What a remarkable guy who genuinely cares for people. 👏
Give us the rest of the Lebowitz interview!
Fran is hilarious and wise at the same time
She’s absolutely the greatest 👍❤️
Thank you for doing this. It is very admirable.
Didn't Roseanne Rosannadanna used to say that, after getting two words mixed up? "That's different and very admirable. Never mind."
Having watched him rise in the Bronx, Ritchie Torres is actually a real hardworking thoughtful guy. The Bronx may just save the country in the end.
I saw Fran in Arkansas-of all places! I felt like I checked something off my “bucket list” without ever actually making a bucket list!😂

She was getting on a roll when the video ended.
You cut her off right at the most meaningful part. Hmmmmm....
Where`s the rest of the Lebowitz interview ??!!
the Bronx is definitely NOT the poorest district in the country like the video claim. Maybe in NYC, but there are also places outside of NYC so that claim is not accurate.
Can you imagine a conversation between Fran and Camilla Paglia? 💗 🤣
Pretend it’s an interview.
Tell me you're NYC without telling me you're NYC.
Answer: Fran Lebowitz
I was 10 years old when I read *social studies* . Sometime after that I remember telling an adult that I wanted to be a satirist.
I've lived all over the world and spent most of my twenties in Manhattan and I would give anything to have coffee or even a later drink or two with Fran Lebowitz! I would just soak up her commentary like a sponge!

I saw her once in the street, carrying clothes from the dry cleaner's. She appeared so unapproachable that I was afraid to look at her.
I’m so annoyed the way they cut up her interview and while she was Still speaking they ended the show! 🤦🏼♀️
@@kathryn1304 You can find the whole interview here on TH-cam :)
Fran's Father: "I work hard all day, I dont come home so I can listen to your theories." Hahahaha!
No hate but someone needs to work on the thumbnail and titles of your videos. As well as the editing

She is so right especially about corporations
Great introduction to Congressman R.
Thank you Fran for speaking obvious truth
She was so incredible.
love this lady!
WHAT'S THAT OLD JEW HAG - A "MAN" OR "WOMAN" OR AN "IT"?
She's an original.
Yes, I also refuse to let progressive purity get in the way of progress.
Wonderful
Who edited this? I'd like to know the thinking behind this mishmash of intros, interview subjects, repeated snippets and early fades.
New fan of Ritchie Torres.
More of both of these guests please.
Memo to Fran Lebowitz: Please smile more, you have a beautiful smile!❤
CBS just needs to get with 2023 and put the whole interview online. Like others have said...it's not right to cut her off like that. That said, I love Fran as well as a lot of what she has to say. Unfortunately, I don't think she is right on the whole nature thing. I'd ask her what she thinks of Dr. Sapolsky's work with baboons and his findings.
Hey wtf - been nicer if she wasn't cut off mid-sentence.
I don't smoke anymore, but I loved getting lost in my thoughts while smoking. There's really nothing like it :(
What an insensitive place to cut the video at the end. I know it has to be cut someplace but please. How grossly insensitive to cut it where she’s explaining the ways AIDS and Covid differ.
7:02 i eeffin WEEZED at the honesty 😭🤣
I did not recognize mo rocca. I remember him a bit from the daily show. His bewildered expressions were throwing me off though.
Also how is this an extended interview. Completely cut off at the end
Loved Moe's series in Detroit of Henry Ford museum, how likable can all of CBS Sunday folks be? 🙏🥰
TRICK! False advertising, this isn’t just Fran

Totally agree! Some people cannot breathe when someone else is smoking. It is detrimental to others health.
haha, she doesn't what you think!
Thank you for sharing..
We thank Albuquerque Public Library. We have splurged reading from their collection, yes...Fran is a giant book visiting
excellent! thank You
I've loved Lebowitz and followed her for decades- and I understand what addiction is- but secondhand smoke isn't "an annoyance," it's a health hazard.
He is ok. I would say he is in blue district. Not really that blue. He is in a district where people do not vote much at all.
“PERIODT.”
love her, ty!
awh, it ended too soon.
One of the best misanthropes on the planet
Lebowitz is not a misanthrope.
...wait, she was till talking..
I would love to see her with a different hair style and colourful clothes. Luv her!
Fran was such a babe when she was younger - a proverbial Jewish beauty.
Fran's interview series with Martian is ...well all NY FRAN!💕
I can not believe you just cut through Fran's description of AIDS epidemic. So dumb and low 'Sunday morning'.
What’s up with this music on the background and presenter’s energy… :S
“Here comes the sun” could be enthusiastic
Martin, why is Alfonso Cuaron is assuming your look?
Yeah!
Fran is the o n l y person I want on a podcast but because she is Fran she'll never have one 🥲
Toni Morrison was her lover at one point.
She looks like a lawyer!!
I love fran!
Clearly, that Netflix show with Fran was much too short...just like Scorsese.
Great interview! The video was cut too damn short! Especially where it cut off. It was a horrible way to end the video! 👎
My bedtime my was 7pm. Mine was because my mother didn't want to deal with us. I took napss till I entered kindergarten
Pro tip: Cut out the promos
I get permission to be ignorant of IT and code. It's a kind of freedom.
Fran Lebowitz is fantastic; the bizarre choice of editing here, not so much.
I agree with everything she says
I do also, except for her utterly wrong take on secondhand smoke.

Ritchie, Joan the painter left the Bronx to New Mexico
I have strong opinions 😂❤
