I said that to her and she said “I can’t hear you”. 😂😂😂 ....I repeated it, and she simply said thank you. I then got off the train 2 stops before I planned to so I could go out on a high note. Love her so much.
As a former teacher, I can say that some of my smartest, most insightful students were not always the best students in school. If I had had her in class, FL would have given me ulcers and sleepless nights trying to figure out how to keep her motivated but I would have loved having her there and the challenge she posed...a critical thinker who loves to talk, who questions what she sees and hears but who is also a good listener.

I adored my high school teachers (most of them) but I was unmotivated, distracted and bored. I managed to get through high school and university too. Teachers were my role models, my favourite people and I enjoyed conversing with them after class. Great teachers are fascinating human beings, who are very generous to share their life experiences. Agree, she couldn’t be more wrong on this. I like her but there are many things she speaks about she has no real knowledge about and yet a strong opinion which lacks empathy. I believe this lack of empathy allows her to be so snappy and decisive.

She also said Bernie Sanders was a fraud. The most honest man I’ve seen in presidential politics. And she adores Hilary Clinton, one of the most despised women’s in the country. And for good reasons. I didn’t bother listening to this after watching the other one, but thought I would throw this out to all her admirers here. Mainly because of her attack an Sanders. It's all tongue-in-cheek. Fran's not an elected official, she owes no one any favours, so she can be as vocally critical about elected officials in her country as she likes. It's called freedom of speech. Giving her opinion is how Fran makes her living. People wouldn't ask if they didn't want to know. I also disagree with you that Hilary Clinton is hated by all. She's hated by some people, many because she is an educated, intelligent, successful woman. Some dislike her because she stayed with her husband despite his serial philandering & sexual harassment. She's a very smart woman, and had she been acknowledged as the true winner of the 2016 election, at least 150,000 more Americans would be alive right now than are. I'm not one to care about other people's opinions and worldviews in the sense of seeking inspiration or validation, nor am I fond of people generally, however I can easily say that Fran is the only person in the world that I have stumbled on so far who can make me euphoric listening to her speak her mind. It's very common in Canada as well, or at least on the west coast where I've lived. Most public presentations will begin with something like "we acknowledge that today we gather on the unceded traditional territory of the coast salish" for example. Unless of course in situations where indigenous peoples are themselves the hosts. And yes, it's a really good thing to do and to continue!!

Firstly it's not mere virtue signalling to Indigenous peoples themselves, it's a sign of good faith, respect and solidarity that precedes and reinforces concrete action. In the part of Canada where I live anyway, Indigenous peoples value and practice formal public recognition of their hosts and their friends; it's inherent to their cooperative models of traditional governance. Not to mention it's just universal courtesy lol. Secondly, I believe that discourse and action are inseparable. They work together. I've been to protests and donated to causes. Do I need to get a law degree and litigate for treaty rights in order to be considered useful? I am an author and I agree that not everyone can write...and sometimes I can't either. It's a mood that comes and goes. But taking a class will definitely not help it. One thing ... I am really impressed and perhaps misguidedly think that there is hope for humanity when I see Aussies paying respect to the native aborigines like I heard here. Maybe the US could be a better country if we learned from that.
It's very common in Canada as well, or at least on the west coast where I've lived. Most public presentations will begin with something like "we acknowledge that today we gather on the unceded traditional territory of the coast salish" for example. Unless of course in situations where indigenous peoples are themselves the hosts. And yes, it's a really good thing to do and to continue!!
That's all we have to do? Just make cringy, virtue-signalling land acknowledgements whenever there are a requisite number of white people in the room? We don't have to spend any money or give any land back or actually help any indigenous communities? God I love progressivism. You get to feel morally superior to everyone and you don't even have to DO anything to earn said moral superiority!

Firstly it's not mere virtue signalling to Indigenous peoples themselves, it's a sign of good faith, respect and solidarity that precedes and reinforces concrete action. In the part of Canada where I live anyway, Indigenous peoples value and practice formal public recognition of their hosts and their friends; it's inherent to their cooperative models of traditional governance. Not to mention it's just universal courtesy lol. Secondly, I believe that discourse and action are inseparable. They work together. I've been to protests and donated to causes. Do I need to get a law degree and litigate for treaty rights in order to be considered useful? I argue we're better off now with such anouncements than when traditional sovereignty was frankly ignored in public, with the exception of art commissions for public spaces. It all helps. ✌

I am an author and I agree that not everyone can write...and sometimes I can't either. It's a mood that comes and goes. But taking a class will definitely not help it. Wanting to write won't help it either. It's like a feeling mood or spirit and sometimes it makes incredible things come out of my brain and sometimes it truly doesn't. The mood to write at least always makes me engage my creativity...but often it leaves me feeling like...what exactly is the point though. If there is no point, yes, just eat something sweet and let the feeling pass. You are totally right. Not every cool thought is worth communicating to people. I agree Fran!( ...as if she is going to see this comment. I know she will not. Lol)
