Really great teaching style here. All videos in the SSRS series have been amazing and enough repetition done throughout vids to drill in the learning. Voice / speed / pitch is perfect. Thank you so much for uploading these have helped a lot.

You are honestly the best teacher I have ever come across, in school or online. I see you haven't uploaded videos on your TH-cam channel in a long time, I assume you're busy with your company. Hopefully you'll come back to TH-cam eventually, you are an AMAZING teacher.

Along with other people I want to agree: You truly added value in this video and even among the others videos of yours that I have seen. This tutorial is fairly outstanding. Thank you.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for a wonderfully complete and easy to follow tutorial. I write software for a living and although I'm pretty conversant with SQL Server databases, I've never used the reporting services. However, I've just been assigned a project that will require them. Your tutorial gave me the base knowledge I needed to get started. Note: I viewed a few others before I found yours. All I can say is ugh!
You probably already know this but, the latest version of the RDL report designer for Visual Studio does not offer the intuitive relationship defining as shown in your video. Version 2.0 matches the Report Builder's more awkward one. No problem though because I can to use the use the SSMS Query Designer and copy the SQL into the report designer. Anyway, thanks again for a great tutorial.

The fun part about SSRS is installing VS then the data tools to get reporting services enabled within VS so you can create a reporting services project. That crap took me about 4 attempts to get it sorted out.

I think there is another importance difference, but I do not have access to both of them right now to check it.
If I remember correctly, in Visual Studio (SSDT) there is a dropdown control that allows you to select specific report elements by name, but it doesn't exist in Report Builder. For example, if you have a large, complex report and need to lookup textbox117 for some reason, you can easily find it in Visual Studio using the dropdown, but in Report Builder you would have to just continue clicking on individual textboxes one by one until you happened to hit textbox117.

If you are a reporting analyst, you won't see Report builder. You'll see VS with reporting services. It's all about the shared data sources. Report builder is good for say an end user who knows what they want, and has access to get it (ie permissions) and is more like a power user. That will get old REAL QUICK if you are writing reports daily like me and want to get things out quick and not open a bunch of windows. Just one solution, many projects, keeps it clean.

Does Report Builder consume server recourses to run a report? If I need to make a minor change and run it, would it impact the server performance?

In VS2015 reporting analytics no problem but once I deploy, that is were error comes out and says cannot create connection to data source. I'm using VS2015 and SSRS 2016. Hope you can help me.

I am using report builder and I created a report using that with 5 parameters(all of them multi-value parameters). After that I published the report parts to the server, and then finally when I deployed the report to the report server, the issue began. The report is not working the way it used to work on the local system. For example the multi value parameters are selecting 'select all' by default, even though I am specifying the values. Please let me know what went wrong with the deployment and let me know what to do

    • @rendanin8329

Configure reporting service and create url, give them that url to acces it from you computer and they might need user account to access it

visual studio 2019 why query designer auto joining tables is not working?

    • @WiseOwlTutorials
      @WiseOwlTutorials  2 ปีที่แล้ว

It works for me. The auto joining is based on foreign key constraints in the database. If you don't have foreign key constraints the query designer won't create joins automatically.
      I hope it helps!

A few runs at this comment till I finally nailed down what I needed to ask :) So you are using IE as an Administrator to access the report server because of specific circumstances with it installed on the same machine - can you clarify what these circumstances are or point me in the direction where to find out? Additionally, any idea why Microsoft Edge prompts for credentials - and even when entering admin level credentials (same work fine from IE), it still does not work? Error below:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'Movies'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
    Access is denied

Hi Lee! SSRS changed to a standalone installation in SQL Server 2017. We have videos in this playlist which show how to install SSRS and the Business Intelligence templates th-cam.com/play/PLNIs-AWhQzcmn2xNYQu8ahIVHobCJSEbq.html

@@pianoLee-sx9dx Hi Lee! No, you need the business intelligence templates if you want to create reports. You do need to install Reporting Services to get your report server running though.
