I’ve always resented Alien 3 for killing off Newt & Hicks, as Newt was my second favorite character in the franchise (number 1 being Ripley of course). James Cameron really knows how to write a found family dynamic, and having Ripley & Newt be two survivors who’ve lost everything only to find each other was a very beautiful and moving story to see.
The Assembly Cut redeems the movie to me. I don’t know how you feel. Now for Hicks and Newt. From my perspective, I understand that they took away Hicks so that there’s no military personnel to have a feel of security. Newt taken away is to give Ripley another loss of a child she deemed as a daughter to make her feel alone once again. Granted it is not a great way to do it, but I see why. If the Alien was more like the one from Aliens, the movie would be a little better. The CGI killed the feel. But I think this is still better than Resurrection. This is how I feel about it.
You need to play Aliens : Colonial Marines (2013) and the DLC Stasis Interrupted. Play them on the PC instead of PS3/Xbox 360, as the AI is terrible, literally one letter/number of code is wrong and fucked the whole thing up but a modder fixed it for the PC in 2017, sadly no update for that easy fix is available for the PS3/Xbox360 versions. A:CM is set 17 weeks after the events in Aliens and Stasis Interrupted is set before the events in A:CM. Hicks is in it and it explains why he doesn’t die in Alien3 and it’s official canon. I won’t put anymore spoilers. Stasis Interrupted is actually a better story than the main campaign but as I played the Xbox360 version with the terrible AI it wasn’t as good as it should have been. Apparently it’s a good game with the 2017 AI fix and I hope to play the fixed PC version in the future. It’s worth getting for the price that you can get it at now, just to experience the campaign and DLC. One cool feature is that instead of having the motion tracker in the corner of the screen, like the majority of alien/AvP games, A:CM makes you switch back and forth from your weapon to the motion tracker, as like in the movie it’s a big piece of kit but still beeps when thing’s are close even when you’re not holding it up, which is good. I hope these feature becomes the primary way of having/using the motion tracker in future Aliens/AvP 1st person shooters.

in one of the deleted scenes in ALIENS, the turrets section we see Ripley holding the Flamethrower--I wonder why it was never used during the "they cut the power" battle.. I believe Hicks says it was half full and Gorman could've used it in rescuing Vasquez.

Not only is it incredibly entertaining, but also emotionally fulfilling with the character development and relationships. So, so, so good.
At 28:33, Ripley states that the company log she found was dated 6-12-79. I wonder if this was intended to be an Easter egg, but oddly off by ten days, as the IMDb states that Alien premiered on 06/22/79. I know there were some preview screenings that took place earlier than the 22nd, but I suspect this was suppose to reference the general release date and the letterer just made a simple error.
I owned this comic of Newts Tale (the 2nd volume) back in 96 , not in million did i think id see a video about it two decades later !!!! This is crazy to me to see someone talking about it!!!! The version i had was all black n white tho , i don't remember it ever being colored !!!!! This comic also first introduced me to the sentry gun scene a year or two before they finally released it on the Special extended Edition VHS
Beautiful, thanks. I realised I know a lot of quotes from the movie from the top of my head :) I was listening this in the car so I couldn't look at the screen and I went: "hey, hudson didn't kill both facehuggers in medical" and "4 grenades in the tunnel with vasquez and gorman?". Nice one, comparing the differences
You are spot on about the likenesses. Whilst the rights to character names, situations and even the original script were relatively easy to obtain, being inexorably intertwined as intellectual properties, the rights to the actors' individual likenesses were more...prohibitive...to obtain due to having to deal with multiple (and arguably competitive) talent agents, so reasonable analogues were used (similar to the action figures for Terminator Salvation having a John Connor figure, but with a face scarf on hiding his facial features due to an oversight meaning permission to use Christian Bale's likeness wasn't secured.)
Great video, nice that you showed the deleted scenes. Plus you have a good narrator voice, i prefer video's that don't have the host on screen just voice. I can use my imagination on how you look.
I wonder if Alien Theory has gotten ahold of the Alien: Fate Of The Nostromo boardgame??? 🤔🤔 Oliver Harper did an hour-plus long video on it; showing how it's played.
I hope you are well. Thank you for the great content, I love your channel. The earth war and beyond earth war I have watched 3 times at least . the zeno zip chapters were some of my favorites. It's been a awhile since anything has been added those playlists I was just curious is the earth war beyond earth war finished or will there be more ? Best wishes to you and yours.
I've always wondered what actually happened to Hudson because Hicks helps him out of the hive but after that he's perfectly fine, I've watched Aliens so many times and I still don't know....🤔🤷♂️
Hey Man, great Video! I love your Narration! Could you do the rest of the new Marvel Aliens comics? I know you did the first one but they've been out long enough now!
I love a Theory a guy came up with in an Aliens Fans Group on Facebook. Which Blew my mind..... Newt was alone for only Two Days.... Which came after I asked; "How could a 10yr old last that long alone by herself, with the Aliens running around. Even hiding where she did a Facehugger would eventually have found her." In Alien the Fetus gestation period is a Day, give or take an Hour... Therefore when the Marines arrive at the Atmosphere Processor, and find the implanted Woman; she'd been caught within the past 48hrs.
Are you asking for an explanation for what I wrote? This is a Video about Newt. The comic Newt's Tale is from her POV. Although early events are officially Retconned with the Novel/Audio Drama: "Aliens - River of Pain". This video reminded me of the conversation I had had; And I thought to share it here since it is on topic.
Back in the fourth grade my bud gave me this series for my Bday and I could tell he was regifting them lol. I’ve been thinking about it lately though after watching the new 4k of Aliens.
I ALWAYS WONDERED IN THE MOVIE 🎥 “ ALIENS” HUDSON uses his tracker to locate the beacons that every colonist has implanted onto them ( in case of an emergency or one of them gets lost). WHY DIDNT HE PICK UP ON NEWTS LOCATOR?????
@@leandroteixeira33 I’m gonna watch it again tonight but I think when they are talking about them after they enter Hadleys hope and they can’t find anyone they say “ lets track their beacons every colonist has one implanted before they arrive”. But you could be correct maybe children don’t only the adults that work so they can’t be tracked and made sure they are doing their job! Figures lol 😂 but I’m gonna re visit the movie again tonight and see !!
For crying outloud , that was great, please tell why no Disney or film executive done this prequel yet? I can see it now, Alien last stand at Hadley’s Hope rated R . Cmon they’ve run out of ideas, go to the source of the franchise, cmon film guys, smarten up give us this gut wrenching cosmic horror film, we the fans demand it, end this drought!
Okay sorry to ask a well-trod question but i’m missing something. Newt’s dad is talking about the discovery being his, and half his wife’s, etc., being rich and so on - but Burke ordered them to go. Then later he talks to Ripley about exclusive rights. Can someone explain this to me like i’m a 4yr old?
The way I understand it is that Burke told the Jordens/colonists whatever they wanted to hear in order to get them to go into the derelict ship. The Jordens are blue-collar colonists. They don't have much money and live in one of the more miserable places in space. Many of the colonists on Acheron were there to hunt for "treasure", including Newt's parents. They're exactly what Burke needed... naïve, trusting colonists, willing to do anything to make a better life. Nobody on Acheron had any idea who Burke was, or that he was not to be trusted. Whether or not the Jordens survived their journey, Burke would have had no problem taking the riches earned from discovering the xenomorphs. That's what the company and the company stooges do. Burke's promise was a big ruse.
@@Adarkane325xi The only person who would know for sure would be the person who wrote the script. I'm going by having watched the movie probably over a hundred times and having read the novel River Of Pain at least three times.
@@RikkiSpanish Fair enough. So Burke just asked politely and they went out there? Ripley said she checked the colony log and there was a Directive. Plus the ship moved, how did they know where to look? It moved because from a creative perspective they had to justify no one else ever finding an alien. But the Anesidora crew found it in Isolation. It’s pretty confusing.
@@Adarkane325xi Burke put out a directive for a scavenger team to go check out a point of interest. The Jordens were prospectors(think of them as a sci-fi version of Gold Rush prospectors). They asked the colony administrator to ask Weyland Yutani if they would get their share of earnings from whatever they recover. Burke messaged back a quick "yes". If you watch Aliens with the cut scenes, this is all in the movie. There is a scene with the colony administrator talking with his assistant about all of this(Simpson and Lydecker). Russ and Anne weren't going to go out to the spot until they reached a deal with Weyland Yutani. They had no idea what they were being sent out to either. They were told it was a point of interest and given coordinates, that's all. If Burke had told them it was likely dangerous, nobody would have volunteered for that. As far as the derelict ship having moved, it was caused by volcanic activity. Acheron is a very geologically active moon(lots of eruptions and quakes). This was explained in River Of Pain. There was a massive erruption between the events of Isolation(Capt. Marlowe deactivated the beacon) and the construction of the air processing unit for Hadley's Hope. After the geological events, the ship was now hidden from view, behind the Ilium mountain range. With the infamous beacon shut off, the colonists of Hadley's Hope had no idea about the ship's existence. Since Acheron is pretty much shrouded in a thick cloud cover, the derelict ship wasn't visible to orbiting or landing ships either. The explosion of the air processor did not destroy the derelict ship. Weyland Yutani and the Marines return to Acheron and the derelict some time later. Obviously, chaos ensues. I seriously recommend reading River Of Pain. While some fans didn't care for the book, I liked it. Either way, it ties up loose ends in the story by giving those little details. If you haven't already, please watch Aliens with the deleted scenes. Unfortunately, all of the scenes with Russ, Anne, Timmy, and the rest of the colonists ended up on the cutting room floor. While some fans liked that because they felt it added some mystery, it also cut out a lot of key details which tie the story together. If you are a more detail-oriented Aliens fan, like you an I, it's frustrating when key scenes are cut out. Watching the director's cut might help you out a little bit. It's also nice to be able to put faces with a few of the characters names mentioned in River Of Pain. I really like a lot of the deleted scenes because I feel that they made the massacre of the colonists far more tragic. One of the deleted scenes shows some of the colonists' children playing. It's more emotional when you know that all of those children will die a horrible death.
I would hale like to of seen more of what newt was doing before the team showed up, maybe she saw the drop ship come down and was fallowing them once they entered the hope
Too much risk of acid spray from the height the queen was at. It would have been like an air-burst frag. Also the two sentries lurking on either flank to her may have been waiting for that?
Ah! The Aliens Magazine! I only picked up a few issues that included an adaptation of Alien 4 but it was good with interviews and stuff but it struck an odd memory - I seem to reCall in the pre-production phase, Lance Henriksen was said to be lined up in the cast of Alien 4. I wonder what happened? Millenium, maybe?
It's probably the deadest horse to beat almost 40 years afterwards but it still amuses me that Aliens claimed with zero hesitation that shooting a nuclear reactor caused a nuclear explosion, and it can probably get away with that seeing as it's a futuristic, fantasty fusion reactor, but in hindsight, a line like "Thermonuclear explosion. Adios muchachos" is a lot less terrifying than "the flesh will be melting off their bones in 15 minutes after radiaton exposure like that".
"And a future adventure never to take place" That line and the facehugger crawling on to the capsule just makes it feel like a cheap, common, 80s horror ending. It's sad. And yes, I'm *STILL* salty about Newt. They should just make the comics into a series and ignore the story of 3. I liked 3 but still it needs to be stricken from history. FOR NEWT.
1992 was just a weird (and frankly, mediocre) year for the franchise in general. The Dark Horse comics up to this point concerning Newt/Hicks were rendered non-canon by A3. The Kenner toyline followed characters who had been dead in the film continuity for six years, and this comic adaptation basically just felt like wheel-spinning on the part of a creative team that knew long beforehand that it would be a pointless adaptation considering the character was slated to die in the film.
I love how the film doomsday had so many homages to lead max and aliens with the car crushing the raider guy which was shot for shot from aliens when it is on the APC and ripley slams the breaks and runs it over
This might be odd but could you check out the tyranids in warhammer and make a comparison with the xenomorphs because they seem very similar in function and morphology.
There are several videos on TH-cam comparing the two, at least one of which considers that Games Workshop ripped off the films (which is probably true). I would point out that as the lore has expanded the Tyranids have grown into something rather different. The gestalt mind, the way the large variety of creatures are grown before dissolving back into biomass and being absorbed into the 'ships', the living ships themselves, and more. The models for the game are very Alien though. Maybe if he did a video exploring the various creatures in fiction that have been 'inspired' by the xenomorphs, including the Tyranids, that might be very interesting.
According to newly released rumours, the story starts with a spaceship discovering the remains of the first xenomorph from the alien movie. They bring it to the nearest spacestation and extract it for eggs which creates the facehuggers. Then the whole spacestation gets infected and all the humans dies, and leaves a big xenomorph hive behind. When contact is lost with the other spacestations.A spaceship is sendt to investigate. Then a battle breaks out,and only one off the investigators manage to escape. Or did she? In the end we see that she also is infected and she sets the escapepod to self construct, but before that happens, the escape pod lands on a unknown planet with small humanlike beings, but with blue skin. And that makes a cliffhanger for a follow-up movie ?
I wondered how Aliens would have gone down when after realizing how dangerous it would be to shot in the processor, if the team pulled out and regrouped for further planning?
So, if the line about adventures that would never be meant everything after was a dream, the entirety of Earth war could not have happened? She was a very major part of alot of that story.
No one knows what the continuity's supposed to be anymore. The Newt/Hicks comic stories appeared to be part of the same continuity as the films, but 3 squashed that completely, and most EU works since then (up until Marvel's acquisition) basically just did their own thing without any real reference to the overarching film plot. Colonial Marines tried to pass itself off as an "official" sequel to Aliens, but had so many plot gaffes and continuity problems (not the least of which being everything that happened in the Stasis Interrupted DLC) that most seem to write it off as AU. The Marvel continuity is its own thing, while the Out of the Shadows trilogy (which were originally marketed as canon with the films) seem to be treated as their own thing, as they really play fast and loose with certain moments in the films et al.
the common thought is 2live crew was the reason for the parental warning introduced to products to warn parents but thats not true. it was actually the alien toy line that sparked that nonsense. someone was so offended by scary toys they started the whole parental advisory warning. true story.
You know what's crazy is that the face huggers that were kept in stasis were literally right outside Medical where Ripley and New were sleeping... F*** THAT!!!! lol 😂 I would be like you can take those things and put them outside on the doorstep because yeah they're not sleeping next-door to me, but they probably didn't mad about you coming up with his plan. I was just playing alien colonial Marines earlier and I was walking through the complex going from operations to Medical and I wish there was a way that I could play it before they destroyed the entire area. I may be having some sort of Mandela effect here, but for some reason I feel like I played a video game about 20 years ago that allowed you to walk around the colony

I know there were some preview screenings that took place earlier than the 22nd, but I suspect this was suppose to reference the general release date and the letterer just made a simple error.
Always solid narration and clinical research. One of my favourite channels for sure. Thank you for feeding my Alien obsession. Cheers.
The sad thing is there hasn't been a truly excellent Alien movie in any shape or form since 1986. That's a long time now.
I can’t be the first to think that our good narrator sounds like Michael Biehn?
There were many things I didn't know about this. Thanks and great job!
I own both parts of this story, but never read them. Glad I watched this vid to hear it dramatized from the best Alien channel on TH-cam!!
The facial expressions in the comic are so over the top. It's hard not to laugh sometimes.
Oliver Harper did an hour-plus long video on it; showing how it's played.
Oh yes I have a copy! 😁 I’ve thought about maybe doing a playthrough/overview for the channel but not sure.
@@AlienTheory I should've known you'd have it. If anybody would....🙂😁
A video review would be good. 🙂🙂
I've always wondered what actually happened to Hudson because Hicks helps him out of the hive but after that he's perfectly fine, I've watched Aliens so many times and I still don't know....🤔🤷♂️
You have to appreciate the powers that be turning a very adult film series into kids toys👍👍👍
Hey Man, great Video! I love your Narration! Could you do the rest of the new Marvel Aliens comics? I know you did the first one but they've been out long enough now!
22:00 what's the brandname & type of the 'dropship' ? it's like a futuristic-space A10-Warthog's successor 😀!
I love a Theory a guy came up with in an Aliens Fans Group on Facebook. Which Blew my mind..... Newt was alone for only Two Days.... Which came after I asked; "How could a 10yr old last that long alone by herself, with the Aliens running around. Even hiding where she did a Facehugger would eventually have found her."
In Alien the Fetus gestation period is a Day, give or take an Hour... Therefore when the Marines arrive at the Atmosphere Processor, and find the implanted Woman; she'd been caught within the past 48hrs.
What is your point jw
NVM I read deeper
Are you asking for an explanation for what I wrote?
This is a Video about Newt. The comic Newt's Tale is from her POV. Although early events are officially Retconned with the Novel/Audio Drama: "Aliens - River of Pain". This video reminded me of the conversation I had had; And I thought to share it here since it is on topic.
I think I still have my copy of this somewhere. It was always interesting how it was a little different but gave us the cocooned Burke scene
5:30 "Newt, my name is Newt, nobody calls me Rebecca except my brother" ;)
Great video as always my friend.
Great Video Alien Theory!
Even though I can recite the movie this was thrilling! Thank you for your passion.
Back in the fourth grade my bud gave me this series for my Bday and I could tell he was regifting them lol. I’ve been thinking about it lately though after watching the new 4k of Aliens.
50:18 Queen takes Bishop checkmate
I've never purchased many comics, when I did they were Dark Horse.
Absolutely outstanding video thanks 🙂👍👍👍
AWESOME .... YES , The BEST show on youtube !
I ALWAYS WONDERED IN THE MOVIE 🎥
“ ALIENS” HUDSON uses his tracker to locate the beacons that every colonist has implanted onto them ( in case of an emergency or one of them gets lost). WHY DIDNT HE PICK UP ON NEWTS LOCATOR?????
They were probably only implanted on a certain age and Newt was too young for that. This seems the most plausible to me.
Could be a staff thing. Like the workers get them, but some family members don’t.
@@RikkiSpanish So you don’t know.
The entire siege on Hadley's Hope would make a fantastic movie.
Night of the Living Dead, with aliens.
Would make a such an epic movie! Maybe on a alternate universe or far future
If only Ripley had shot the Queen, it would have saved us from Alien 3. Also Hicks and Newt wouldn't be dead. And Bishop would be in one piece.
Too much risk of acid spray from the height the queen was at. It would have been like an air-burst frag. Also the two sentries lurking on either flank to her may have been waiting for that?
You have done it again, sir! A-T is flames 🔥🔥🔥
BRA 👏 F 👏 VO👏
"And a future adventure never to take place"
That line and the facehugger crawling on to the capsule just makes it feel like a cheap, common, 80s horror ending.
Great comics. I still have half dozen of the first dark horse comics in the UK
18:59 Something else different from the movie, cause those are not Reebok Alien Stompers.
I wish they would make a movie or at least a miniseries of Newt’s Tale.
do we actually see the dropship hit the apc in the film? i dont remember ever seeing the apc during the crash
No, unfortunately not.
She’s been put in charge.
With the exception of getting to see the Jordan's explore the deriliect ship, River of Pain was sort of *meh*.
I love how the film doomsday had so many homages to lead max and aliens with the car crushing the raider guy which was shot for shot from aliens when it is on the APC and ripley slams the breaks and runs it over
I always get the urge to watch Alien and Aliens after an Alien Theory video!
This channel is so awesome
Nightmare Asylum is still till this day my favorite.
Ooh dropped a long one on us lol nice one 👍
The Aliens comics and Kenner alien figures were my fucking jam as a kid
Fantastic narration!
According to newly released rumours, the story starts with a spaceship discovering the remains
of the first xenomorph from the alien movie. They bring it to the nearest spacestation and extract it
for eggs which creates the facehuggers. Then the whole spacestation gets infected and all the humans
dies, and leaves a big xenomorph hive behind.
When contact is lost with the other spacestations.A spaceship is sendt to investigate.
Then a battle breaks out,and only one off the investigators manage to escape.
Or did she? In the end we see that she also is infected and she sets the escapepod to self construct, but
before that happens, the escape pod lands on a unknown planet with small humanlike beings, but with blue skin.
And that makes a cliffhanger for a follow-up movie ?
Love these long vids.
Oooooooh this should be good.
Newt saluting Hudson, funny stuff.
I wondered how Aliens would have gone down when after realizing how dangerous it would be to shot in the processor, if the team pulled out and regrouped for further planning?
Alien3 is my closure. If I want a new Alien movie I want other stories, from other perspectives
I don't think Bishop would "Be seeing them soon." If It's FORTY MILES Down xD
Is it just me or does Ripley's design in this comic remind me of April O'neal from the TMNT cartoon? All in all a good comic adaptation
And Newt in the cartoon reiminds me much more of a young Linda Hamilton than of Carrie Henn.
This NEEDS to be a movie...Hopefully the upcoming Fxx TV series will be good
the common thought is 2live crew was the reason for the parental warning introduced to products to warn parents but thats not true. it was actually the alien toy line that sparked that nonsense. someone was so offended by scary toys they started the whole parental advisory warning. true story.
Source please?
@@DevilSurvivor69 i cant remember. it was a short doc on marketing and that was mentioned. probably here on YT.
I remember the whole 2Live Crew brouhaha. Even bought a copy of the uncensored CD from a local music store. Still have it around here somewhere.
Great video, just great
You know what's crazy is that the face huggers that were kept in stasis were literally right outside Medical where Ripley and New were sleeping...
F*** THAT!!!! lol 😂
I would be like you can take those things and put them outside on the doorstep because yeah they're not sleeping next-door to me, but they probably didn't mad about you coming up with his plan.
Newt lives !
Another Bug Hunt ✊hey my friend awesome videos always sending positive energy to you and your family always my friend 🤜🤛
@32:11 technically 40 MINUTES to crawl down there. Not 40 MILES 😂😂
THEY'D BE FUUUUCKKKEDDD lmao
