Yeah. Hard pass on the indoor rain. Really enjoying Alex's progression though. Now what about his DIY rocker plate? Ah, I see. Not compatible with the rain. Best to get the new rocker feet then. Any electrical intervention between the mains voltage and the 12V automotive pump?
Wouldn't it actually make washing it less likely as it'd get the sweat off your bike as you ride and it's clean water coming out of the mister anyway. I guess you'd have to dry it, use something like WD40 and lub the chain more but that's better than having salt in your stem and bearings etc. Especially if you are like Si.... 🤔 I'd be more worried about my flat screen TV that's right next to that setup and if the ply wood was water resistant I think. Not to mention is all the Kicker stuff water resistant in any way at all?
Very nice setup. Now all he needs is a small coffee/cake shop section.😂 Riding a Kurt Kinetic trainer down in the cellar, have a big fan and music. 18 inch's of snow and 9 degrees F. today. Take care and stay safe, Al
I just mounted my TV to the ceiling of my garage using a motorized mount. I can now stow the tv flat against the ceiling when I am not Zwifting. After seeing this video, I now must have a water cooling system. Thanks for the suggestion.
The water misting idea is great if you have a garage but not ideal if you live flat with carpets or laminate flooring. Everything else I agree works very well. Now you need a mini fridge in there and a sofa
can the kickr climb be used on top of a rocker plate or is there no decent way to secure the climb, would it put stress on the forks if you did? also ppl please use a brand new washer bottle system if youre gonna do this, not a used one or youll end up blind
OMG - I cannot imagine bailing on a sunny short sleeve day to stay inside and create artificial rain - just to simulate reality in a darkened windowless room. One of the best upgrades you can make, is to go outdoors on a sunny short sleeve day.
Has TV screen in garage Decides to set up projector system instead Plus I'd mount the mist system to the ceiling with the button dangling down, rather than zip tying it to the bike (which can't be removed from the setup so easily)
Awesome video 😎. I’m guessing you liked RC cars 🎮🚗 in a previous life. Arrowmax stand as part of your solder station and battery tape to bodge the projector to the wall 👍🏼
This was fun although the water sprayer would not work for me in my Pain Cave, which is in a finished basement and I can just have a shower after my ride since I am at home. I am currently set up with an Elite smart trainer, a 46" television hooked up to my laptop with a HDMI cable, and some nice speakers for my tunes. I have two fans, at 45 degree angles to the front of the bike, and they run on high all the time I am riding. I just laugh at the Kickr Headwind, a solution to a problem nobody asked for. The Headwind is C$250 in Canada and does not work much differently than my C$30 pedestal fans but I guess it pays the bills at GCN.
Really isn't for most British, well most northern Brits would go out wearing the short sleeved Jersey and shorts in the weather he had then. Certainly wouldn't want rain inside as it rains constantly here anyway and the whole point of riding inside is to avoid the rain. Most of us aren't bothered by the cold, it's the cold and rain that's unbearable.
@@Kobe404 in North Scotland that's what twice a year then.... 😉 But yhea the one that gets me is cold rain. Rain fine, the cold fine but together when riding in wind it's a killer.
@@itarry4 yeah pretty much haha. Short sleeve kit is a dream scenario. But then it's probably too hot if we have to do short sleeves 😆 Jokes aside, I agree. It's the wind that gets me. Don't mind cold weather, don't mind wet weather...don't mind cold wet weather. Add in the wind - nah I'm out mate!
Alex makes rocker plate because he doesn't have the new kicker with the movable feet. Next days video Alex has the entire new kicker set up with no sign of his new rocker plate. Surely the system as a whole would have felt even more realistic on the Rocket as the climb would have also have moved with the bike.... Haven't kicker sorted out the steering function yet? I also don't understand why Strava and some company like Kicker haven't got together and made a total floor rocker plate yet. One that the entire system sits on and has the steering part of Strava working with it. Then the plate could vibrate and move as the ground you're riding over changes. This whole thing seems relatively easy to put together with modern technology and programming etc and would really make the indoor experience a totally immersive experience. Yes until they design a VR headset that's wearable while riding and sweating it'll never be totally immersive but still. Once they do surly it'd make sense to have the ground feel and movement already perfected. Then they'd just have to add a swivel, rotation function to the system and you'd be outside while in your home.
Awesome set up, one I may try n replicate, well minus the Uber expensive wahoo kit! Don’t get the water jet thing but hey Ho. What projector are you using? Keep this content and your style going Alex, brilliant
We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.
That water jet thing is the worst idea I have ever seen. Last thing I want is to introduce more water to my indoor training setup. I mean, it's hard enough to keep clean as it is. Just....NO!...
I wouldn't be spraying water around the place when there are so many electrical things, the fan, the turbo trainer, the thing holding the front wheel, the laptop computer, the projector, the speaker, the other computer screen, and then the power socket on the wall. I'm not an expert in electrical things but I would just keep everything dry. And then there is also the danger of making the floor slippy with all that water, and then falling on your arse as your foot slips from underneath you. I work as a computer programmer and technology just always goes wrong, it's the one thing that you can guarantee with technology it'll go wrong.
What's the point of a projector when Zwift's screen is still 50% menu's and Zwift hasn't given users the option to edit the user interface even though it's been a main request since the beginning of Zwift.
You do know you can buy a water misting fan that would be less involved and more effective than manufacturing your own electrocution hazard water pump thingy yeah? 😂

What do you think of Alex's ultimate indoor training set up?
I'd rather go for the Wahoo Tailwind.
Pretty good! I'll pass on the 'Money Shot' button though.
We need a recumbent one, preferably the one where we can sleep on
Yeah. Hard pass on the indoor rain. Really enjoying Alex's progression though.

what is he using for the projector? that was surprisingly cool.
Most British video ever. Complains about the weather on a beautiful sunny day so proceeds to build indoor rain solution.
Hahaha.
"In case you haven't noticed, it's winter time here in the UK"... saying that while dressed in a short bib and short sleeve jersey
Tom wins the internet for today
Helps when your given £2500 worth of wahoo kit lol
If it was the most British one ever he'd have rigged up a system to make tea from his produced watts as well
Rides indoors to avoid wind and rain. Replicates wind and rain while riding indoors.
Love it

Water mist…🤯game changer 👍🏿
One thing I never thought my indoor rides needed... more humidity.
