I had a Nightster for 6weeks, only got to ride it for 10 days because it kept breaking down ! Had enough and Gave it back, which was a shame as it was my first Harley & I was starting to enjoy it. Got a Z900RS now, great bike + it starts every time which is always a bonus. All the best to ya Bruce
Once I changed to a S & S exhaust and a heavy Breather. The sound is awsome. It does red line at 9500 rpm’s. I also own a Low Rider ST 117. The Nightster is faster to 100 mph
I’m a Harley man has you know Bruce , but Harley have taken out everything what makes a Harley with this bike except for the price. There seams to be lots of reliability issues with both revolution max engines at the moment so for now I’m staying well clear. Just watching you Harley playlist again, I still love you reaction to your first time Harley ride on the Glide.
Ha Ha those big Milwaukee Harley’s have really gotten under my skin mate, they may not be the most dynamic, they mate not be everyone’s cup of tea in terms of design, but they’ve got soul in abundance! These new Revolution ones just seem to lack that, and the finish seems cheap to me in places - too much plastic
@@teapotone absolutely mate, I’m not sure if you have taken out a older 96 / 103 or CVO 110 yet but you must. These bikes ride, feel and sound like a Harley should.
love the honest review Bruce. i used to have a proper Harley Fat bob 114. i now have the Triumph Tiger 1200 gt pro and the 900 gt pro before it which i traded in. i did try the Pan America and i didn't like it for various reasons. vibration / head buffering / display to small / foot stand too far forward and being short i had trouble trying to reach it / too much plastic. i can see what Harley are trying to do to entice younger people, but for the price there is so much more out there and in this day and age you want value for money, but everything with Harley is so bloody expensive and you have to spend more money customizing it to your liking.
13:56 - And it sounds like you're sat on a lawnmower Bruce. 14:25 - What's that hole on the rear between the indicators that looks like they've forgotten to fit something? Great content as ever min.
Good review. It strikes me as being similar to the Indian Scout I owned a few years back. That is a cracking engine trapped in a chassis that didn't really let you use it to its full potential. My 2021 Heritage Softail manages to feel more modern whilst still retaining the Harley characteristics that we all enjoy. As a bike I actually like the Nightster but I can't see myself owning one given its apparent identity crisis.
Interesting review, it's interesting how some of the modern engines 'lose' character - the flat twin in BMW's and Triumph Twins are full of feel. If you want a revvy thrash, get a 600cc inline four or a two stroke. Love the last bit with the tree!
Hi, very good review. I’m new to the world of motorcycles and recently passed my test. Always wanted a Harley and wondering if you’d recommend this for a beginner? I’m female and struggled with the weight of other Harley’s in the shop.
It’s light (for a Harley), and VERY docile below around 6-6.5k revs, so easy to ride. But it’s NOTHING like a Harley, so if you want the Harley experience, this isn’t the bike to get - in my opinion. However, if size is an issue and you can’t deal with the bigger Milwaukee engined Harley’s, then certainly take one of these out and see if it suits you personally
It's expensive it's unreliable it's certainly not for beginner. Not at all suited for a beginner especially since you have to be revved the Sky High cuts out of it in order to make it move it's just not have an easy to live with Power Band it has nothing and then it has everything at the top end. You'd be much better off with a different motorcycle completely good luck with getting a proper bike to fit you
Get a used sportster roadster and maybe some leg press. Very respectable ride the roadster all riders will be jelous and you'll have a keeper bike for the long haul
I'm not a Harley fan and seeing this I'm still not. Sounds like a 70's CB 250 Honda. In the 21st century there just is no excuse for poor brakes and poor suspension regardless of price. £13,000 is a LOT of money. Would I go for this at £5/6000, nope.
Great look at the Nightster! Full of electronics, I can see this being an upgrade for someone that started on a H-D Street 500 or 750. Slap a Rekluse auto clutch kit in it, a new can so it's less putt-putt, and it'd be an interesting bike for town and tour. Also appropriate for someone wanting that little extra safety of ABS, traction control, etc.
i don't like a bike that doesn't start when it is in gear, because when i stall the engine at a traffic stop, i have to find neutral in a rush. I also like to stop the engine at longer traffic light stops, in first gear and use the in-gear as a handbreak for a short pause. Still get a quick getaway.
I have the bike, It starts in gear, I do it every time I park because I always leave it in first. I dont know what he was doing, probably not holding the clutch in
Fair comments again Bruce, who would want too buy a harley and have too wring its neck to get it going...get yourself a japanese 600 for that. Harleys are made for plodding around on low down torque and grunt. Keep up the good work Bruce. Regards Glenn.👍👍
Finally a nightster review from someone Harley didn’t fly out to California and put up in a 5 ⭐️ hotel and feed bs to for a week straight. What a weird motorcycle. It seems like it a mess to me. I’m an American, Harley Davidson rider and owner, a ‘21 FXLRS and a ‘96 sportster 1200. I love both those bikes! This thing is awful. Imo. I hate it. Honestly, I think the Honda rebel 11oo is probably a better modern sportster than this modern sportster? Certainly more bike per dollar spent with the Honda! I hear there’s a lot problems associated with these new rev max bikes Harley is trying desperately to produce. If I ever do get a Rev max bike it will be the 1200 version and not the whiny, little, 975 baby Harley. This thing is an abomination! Especially at that ridiculous price!
Hi it always creases me up watching you ride small bikes as I can relate to your problems directly I to am six foot two and twenty stone, pea on a pod or what lol!I have just traded in my Street Glide Special 114ci for a Pan America Special and I'm loving it,I cannot see for the life of me why Harley cannot make different styles of motorcycles if other manufacturers can steal HDs thunder why can HD not steal theirs, just my humble opinion you understand love the show by the way.
It’s definitely a Harley, and if you ask me it gets back to what the sportster was originally designed to be. A fast, light weight, performance oriented machine. Not baby’s first cruiser. This bike does sound corked up as hell, but an aftermarket exhaust will fix that
But it still ‘suffers’ when you ride it the way it’s engine needs to be ridden to get the best out of it - the chasis becomes springy, the front brake is pushed hard when braking at speed etc
@@teapotone all true, it’s definitely steps in the right direction. This bike needs dual disc brakes and stiffer suspension to be ridden the way it needs to be. The problem is they tried to split the difference between a cruiser and a sport bike. And made it not great as either.
"Fart in a paper cup" 😆 I think the bike itself looks lovely! I guess it's going to take time to get used to the new generation Harley Davidson engine. That lump works so well I the Pan America!
Yeah it’s a nice engine in the Pan, but this one just feels weak and wheezy. Doesn’t come alive until high revs, and that’s just not how most folk would ride this bike 🤷♂️👍
@@teapotone Yes, but when you record a normal LCD screen you get the horizontal refresh lines, with this is all over the place like a Christmas tree. It also changes colour, weird.
I think the Scout Rouge is a better choice, looks similar. Nightster seems to have a terrible lean angle, you seem to be scraping pegs easily. A discussion I had with someone else, the Harley is a copy of the Scout, trying to get some of that market. I'm not into those smaller bikes anymore. I've been riding a CTX1300 five years now, and have no desire to go back to any sized V-twin. As you said, the Nightster seems to be more a starter bike.
Enjoyed the review Bruce, totally with you reference the identity of the bike, I suppose in trying to modernise it for the masses it has lost its soul. But any way Bruce if you ever get fed up with the TH-cam malarky you can always go in for the strongman competitions😄💪
Seems to be trying to be a number of things and not succeeding at any...Triumph Speedmaster 1200 for stylish cruising and fun when you want it, and a great soundtrack Kudos for a very honest review - showing no fear or favour to those who lend their bikes for you 'Tubers' to test and review.
13000£? (14765€ as I'm writing) That's well priced, or better than the nearly 18000€ they're asking for it according to the webpage in Spain, anyway i will keep riding my 883 for now.
Bruce you could easily start a third career as a comedian. Your comments to describe issues are hilarious (but very relateable).😂 Maybe it moves on high rpm's but it just doesn't sound right and the price of it is ridiculous for what it delivers. As you've said maybe it's a starter bike for someone to get into Harleys but in my opinion it doesn't even do that. I doubt if Harley does themself a favour with the Nightstar or are people already so much used to the fact that they have to spend a couple more grands just to make their brand new bike at least a bit appealing?
Think I'd rather save a few quid, and buy a japanese cruiser! I don't like revvy engines anyway, but a revvy V-twin? Nope! Great video, as always Bruce. Nice to see you showing your Scottish Heritage too....... Tossing the caber!! 🤣🤣🤣 Grumps
Should have tossed it like a caber Bruce. As for the Harley I don't know how they can justify the price, nearly double the price of the new Honda hornet?
Pretty much what I thought after test ride at the ABR festival. Nice bike but the engine didn't match the bike. Engine was great when you wound it up but then you were doing 90.... I had a mental image Harley = big lazy torque and this wasn't that at all.
I was the 1st to take that very bike out some months ago went through all the talk at the dealership that had a look at my bike as a part x I was waiting for a email from Guildford HD and not a thing 💩💩
Thanks for taking my Call this morning Warren. Looking forward to seeing you down at the dealership for coffee and a natter about where you are going next!! - Mike Guildford H-D
An engine at odds with the rest of the bike, basic chassis and a wannabee sports engine ??! Don't understand a bike well over 200 kg having a single front disc 😮 A fair review though Bruce 👍
That's really not a good sounding bike. It really does sound like you're caning the nuts off it to get anywhere and it sounds like a little Honda that's flat out! Sorry Mr Teapot no sale. Thanks for the vid though, always entertaining.
I question your bias when you start the bike review with negatives after just put your butt on the seat and as you pull out of the dealership. A new Harley rider may like it won't start in gear with clutch in, or appreciate the performance of the new liquid cooled Revolution Max 975T powertrain. Knowing the bike was a new concept with new power plant, and you wanted it to ride and preform like a traditional Harley bike, why did you even ride it?
It’s a Harley, it’s meant to be an introduction to the Harley brand for new Harley riders - yet rides NOTHING like a Harley. I review a bike how I want to review it. I’ll start right from the beginning, how it looks, how it feels to get on it, and initial impressions when starting the engine. I question your bias as you’re plainly a fan of the bike and are therefore annoyed I didn’t like it 🤷♂️
So its gutless, long geared, sounds like my MSX (when the MSX is on its stock pipe), costs a chunk, has what looks like very basic suspension, hardly any brakes and nothing to suggest its a Harley apart form the badge on the tank. I would love to know where its made too since that info seems to be impossible to find through a quick search and seems to always have "all US model Harleys are made in the US" stamping out where the other market bikes are thrown together. I would presume there is a reason its so hard to find with HD sales and marketing being so well funded. It does make me wonder why anyone buys these things when bikes like the 1100 Rebel are around. I think a lot of sales are simply because you need to have one to be a member of certain clubs.
Hi Bruce Well we love your video we do subscribe keep it up. Now this is my opinion Harley is a word we know it's a company but the word gets associated with one thing a big push rod air cooled V twin with noise. That's fine but when sales are lacking and you have sat on your are too scared to make something different this is what happens. The name has stuck like shit to a blanket they are to blame. I have had Harley's see there you go it's assumed I had a big V twin a d I did so where to from here. They have to make something different to move forward you can't blame them. It's just not going to have the same market and appeal which makes sense to me to continue in both directions they just need the dinasore to be more reliable a d try get the message across you can have your " Harley " and have a Harley they must go forward in a game they manufactured it's going to be tough. Hope you get my gist. Cheers Ray
What you said at 16:00 is very bad advice. You sit further right so you can see further so you and the oncoming vehicle have time to react. This is even more vital on single track roads with farming equipment as there is no guarantee you would fit past a tractor or similar large vehicle. If you're hugging the left you are simply guaranteeing that you and the other vehicle have no time to stop. You prioritise visibility on a road like this
19:40 in fact proving my point as you had no room to pass. You had to pull over right into the bush, on a sharper turn you would not have seen eachother in time and would now be dead
I have to disagree, based on my experience commuting on such narrow lanes. When faced with a tight turn on a single track, I've found hugging the left to be prefferable. You're pretty much forced to take it nice and slow regardless of road position, and since a car or tractor can appear in an instant, I'd rather already be in the usually safer left position, espcially when you factor in avoidance manouveres taking longer when travelling that slowly. If some car or tractor comes nailing it round the bend I'd sooner take my chances in the hedge than head on.
Harleys are living on their glory days of the past, they’re on the bones of their arse and would be out of business in the US if it weren’t for the tax placed upon imports and the helping hand from government. Not my kind of thing unless you haven’t already guessed, why spend so much money on one when you can buy European or Japanese and get reliability, backup and better fit/finish.
They had something similair. Something XG. Failed. They had somethings Italian. Failed. Now they have Honda prototypes. ....fail. They're an SP500 company, no two ways about it.
It sounds like a sewing machine. Eww. No likee. It has an engine that needs to be worked and to ride the bike hard to get the most out of it but it's a cruiser style bike? Huh? I don't get why that engine is in that bike. Honestly, it sounds like a Sinnis 125. The high revving engine nature coupled with the weedy front brake is another odd choice. If you're gonna buy a Harley, buy a HARLEY. This just wouldn't do it for me.
Looks OK but it sounds terrible it's like your screwing the backside off it does absolutely zilch for me , my old 400 cc single cylinder suzuki with a valve lifter sounded better than this Harley, in the 80s, that was my bike to the Colliery for work,it was a hugely ducking, Everyone is different , For that money you can have Ninja 1000 tourer smooth reliable , You would have to want to be in the Harley brigade to spend that money,

I question your bias as you’re plainly a fan of the bike and are therefore annoyed I didn’t like it 🤷♂️
A slip road & the pegs are scraping ??? Naaa....not for me !!
Let’s be honest, even Pepper didn’t like that bike. Really don’t know what Harley were thinking. Based on this review……I’m out.
Since late 2019, due to Trumps tariff battle with the EU, European and UK Harleys are assembled in Thailand.
Hi Bruce
Well we love your video we do subscribe keep it up. Cheers Ray
I'm a harley guy, and this is not for me
The sound of this is enough NOT to buy one....
Great review anyways !
I'm sure you told me they are adult toys that give more wallop per pump than that Harley does 😉Sounds horrible imo.
PS I bet Pippa was looking for the cool bearded guy 😁. Lovely girl.
Ha Ha, you’ve stolen my dog’s heart!!!!
Only takes a moment to pull back to the left, you need to be seen by the other vehicle as early as possible, that's the important thing.
Bad ass bike 🇵🇭 Ride safe 😊
6.3 and 20 stone. Probably less than the average Harley rider 🤔😏
Harley is a bit like marmite. Unfortunately I prefer marmite 🤣
Sounds like a 125 😂
Harleys are living on their glory days of the past, they’re on the bones of their arse and would be out of business in the US if it weren’t for the tax placed upon imports and the helping hand from government.
Lol, no soul, a demon creation, the Nightster
It sounds like a sewing machine. Eww. No likee. It has an engine that needs to be worked and to ride the bike hard to get the most out of it but it's a cruiser style bike? Huh? I don't get why that engine is in that bike. Honestly, it sounds like a Sinnis 125.
The high revving engine nature coupled with the weedy front brake is another odd choice. If you're gonna buy a Harley, buy a HARLEY. This just wouldn't do it for me.
Exactly my thoughts bud.
Was a fun bike when you ragged it, but it’s not a particularly stable bike once you start pushing it 🤷♂️
it really sounds bad... especially at the usable rev range.
Reminds me of the rebel..lol sounds lame…
Bike doesn't come with a chainsaw then? Hard pass. 😀
Oh dear not a sound to turn heads is it.
Looks OK but it sounds terrible it's like your screwing the backside off it does absolutely zilch for me , my old 400 cc single cylinder suzuki with a valve lifter sounded better than this Harley, in the 80s, that was my bike to the Colliery for work,it was a hugely ducking,
Everyone is different ,
For that money you can have Ninja 1000 tourer smooth reliable ,
You would have to want to be in the Harley brigade to spend that money,
Sounded like a bag of shite. It certainly didn't come across as a good bike wasn't giving off any vibes.
honestly, owning an air cooled bike in 2023 really is retro. and stupid
It sounds fucking horrible!
Sounds horrible!
Appalling over priced piece of 💩💩 living up to the Harley name! 🤣
sorry it just looks shite, harley what have you done
Harleys are all just gutless machines
Not at all, some of them have real pull and are great fun to ride.
This one…. Nope
It sounds awful.
OMG the beard is ugly lolz, is there any insects in it? get rid of it.
