    Feels basically like a commercial for Emirates Airlines. I also would have liked to see more of the horses during the flight, how they tolerated the journey, what the grooms did, etc.

      The horses are generally very chill on board. If there are grooms travelling, they check the horses during the flight ever so often together with the loadmaster (if any on board).

    I`ve flown horses multipal times across thr Atlantic ocean. The top priorty is to keep the animals cool. They travel well when they are cool. They always have handerlers along to take care of them inflight and they are the unsung heroes. When I flew them we were flying MD-11's.

    This was very interesting, however I would liked to have seen more of the horses!! And to hear from the groom's and veterinarian on how they specifically travel. What are they given to eat and how often, how much, are they giving relaxation medication etc.

      Skye Rall They need to be tied down for their own safety. It would be a disaster if a horse would freak out and have enough room for an example to rear and get their foot caught to something. Horses sleep standing up most of the time anyway and It doesn't harm them.

      Skye Rall It’s literally the same thing as a trailer, some people drive all the way from ( exemple ) Germany to Sweden and that takes way longer all tho you can take small breaks and stop att horse hotels when you are driving.

  • @grytlappar

    67 horses on the plane! Would have liked to see more of the horses. Do horses get claustrophobic? Because that container inside of a container situation looked pretty 'boxed in'... If there was ever a need for a Go Pro! Still interesting, but seriously, we're here for the horses... And showing horses for a combined time of, what, 15 secs in a 5-min long video about horses is a bit weird...

    • @redactedrider7606
      @redactedrider7606 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's just a portable stall. Maybe not as large as what these horses are used too on a daily basis, but if they can ride in a trailer I don't think they really care.

    • @harinu9339
      @harinu9339 ปีที่แล้ว

      These horses are used to stalls and long journeys in lorries, so they are not claustrophobic, especially as there are several of them in the containers, which reassures them! No horse is born claustrophobic, it becomes so if it has been mistreated or if it has had a traumatizing accident. And everything is meticulously prepared in advance so that there are no worries during the journey, sometimes painter's tape is put on the leg protections, because if they slip or come off during the journey it will be complicated to put them back. And the video is about horse travel, there are millions of other horse videos on TH-cam if you want to see some

    Reining! I have Hollywood Dun It's first foal, A Real Glo Getter. He's 32 years old now, a real old guy (we call him Quatro, for the four spins in reining) and out to pasture now. He was amazing to ride when I showed, always won reining... I've never had a horse spin like he does, or slide. Beautiful buckskin, identical to his father. It was surreal growing up and having a Breyer horse model of my horse's father!

    I wonder, of course because they must maintain strict corporate protocol blah, blah, if any of the horses are drugged for calmness or if any horses lose their balance upon departure or arrival. And, while this is interesting, the real interest is the grooms with the horses. Those are the ones I want to hear from. Not a bunch of stuffed shirt telling us what they can, according the script.

    • @enid0mom
      @enid0mom 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rebekah Bridges-Tervydis That was not the PURPOSE of this particular video. There probably IS a video that looks at the trip from the point of view of the grooms, vets, and other care givers. Maybe someone is doing an in-depth study of the entire process following the horses from when they leave their home stable, throughout the trip, during the competition, and the return trip. In reality, this kind of thing happens literally all the time. There are competitions all over the world where horses are transported. There are equestrian events at every summer Olympic Games.
      It you are inferring that the horses are mistreated in any way, you are way off. They will not drug THESE horses because these horses are accustomed to this kind of transport. Drugging them might make them more likely to “lose their balance.” This is NOT a once in a lifetime event for the horses or the people.
      As far as “corporate protocols,” these horses are not owned by profit making corporations. They are are owned, tended, trained, and ridden by individuals, sometimes several individuals because of the expense. These horses cannot win competitions unless they get the best of everything all the time.
      I used to have show dogs, Standard Poodles. My first champion LOVED everything about going to a show. The preparation, the travel, the shows (where dozens of people petted and kissed her), everything. How do I know this? When she “retired” from showing, I had another dog I was taking to shows. She knew what was happening as I made preparations for the trip and got really excited. When I left without her, she was so let down. When I got home, she would ignore me for a couple days.

You can't tranquilize a horse in flight because the air is so thin anyway, they end up not getting enough oxygen. But you usually only ship top trained horses anyhow.

    people this has gone way to far. horses are wild animals and you can't change that. you can't just force them in a hot and cramped metal box for hours on end. they are ment to be roaming the moors freely

      So i guess you'd leave your own horse behind if you'd have to move.Or proabably never participate in competitions.Just because omg its so cruel to do this to horses.I don't think its cruel at all,its one way to transport your horse overseas.You can chose to go by boat fine by me but thats gonna take a month instead of 9h btw :) 9hours is a piece of cake from a horse's life, not to mention they're being treated well in there and given food.
