Thanks for this. I’m doing jazz band in the spring so this really helps out with me trying to learn new techniques. Also, I’m trying to convince my parents to get me a BetterSax alto for Christmas, as I already have the BetterSax tenor and I love it so much I want to know what the alto is like
Been learning Clarinet and Saxophone these past two years (Trumpet is my main, been playing for 6 years) and your channel has been a godsend, thanks so much!
Great work as always Jay, after a year and a half of coming back from a 43 year pause, I am at the phase where this kind of content is good advice. In parallel within the last 6 months I have learned all the major and minor scales in a kind of music theory obsession. This course looks great and I will seriously investigate it. Always good to hear you play. Wishing you continued success with your whole product line!
First do you have a printable version of that music sheet with the chord tones for each chord and secondly do you offer any monthly payment plan (like your school program) to purchase one of your better sax tenors? I wouldn’t mind getting one
Yes, the Chord Tone Zone course that this comes from has a great 81 page pdf with everything written out. If you purchase the tenor from Sweetwater you can get financing and pay over 6 months. geni.us/saxophones
Curious….Are these lessons/tutorials just geared toward saxophone in Bb or Eb, or are the materials and etudes usable by concert pitch instruments like trombone or rhythm section players?
Relax your embouchure. Bari requires less pressure than alto and tenor. Take more mouthpiece in your mouth. Practice longtones across the full range every day for a month.

This video helped me so much with my tenor sax, do you have any music theory videos, or is there a channel that you would recommend?

As a bass player, hitting the chord tones is a well-worn skill from playing walking bass lines. But getting outside the usual rhythms takes work.
Yes. Sax players need to think more like bass players to get a handle on the chords.

Yes, the pdf is also in concert key for those instruments.
Great video, Jay. Thx. ONE QUESTION: Are you planning to offer a BetterSax soprano? (Preferably a straight sop with 2 necks???)
Do you do one on one video lesson
How can i register
I just got my new Jody Jazz Jet mouthpiece for Bari and it’s always squeaking and doesn’t sound good at the moment. Can you help me fix that?
Relax your embouchure. Bari requires less pressure than alto and tenor. Take more mouthpiece in your mouth. Practice longtones across the full range every day for a month.
Am I the only one who js watches his videos where he plays, transcribes them and fits them into my improv 😭
Root, 3rd, 5th, and 7th. But that changes for blue notes, right?
Nope
Blue note is #4 or b5 but he’s only dealing with 4 note arpeggio’s here so not relevant.
There's that ligature again
Don’t play the 4th…in most cases
