We had a lovely hot day at the abbey in the middle of summer, after walking up the tor and looking around the town. What a wonderful place it is, and such an evocative atmosphere. Great video as usual Sam xx
Delightful tour which captures some of its mystique - expecially after dark. I only managed the Abbey some years ago, and missed the superb views from the Tor. Perhap's I will return...one moonlit night!!
@@SamWalksALotthat place looks beautiful peaceful to meditate as well. It’s not always about ghosts it’s about being able to see beautiful places as well and visiting historical places
Hi Sam, I've never been there but you've captured the flavour of what is a mysterious town. It must have been quite a sight when it was surounded by the lake, the stuff of legends. I saw another video recently on Glastonbury on west country wanderings and after having a look came up with this story "I had a quick read up and found a lot of history merging into legend (or vice versa). But of fact is The Glastonbury thorn which is only grown there and flowers twice a year and even that is linked to legend of how it arrived there" When ever the grail is mentioned I always think of Monty Python, they really are legends now!! Maybe another one for your list is Tintagel, if you havnt already been. Great video, well done!!
Thank you! Looking at the landscape from the top, with the flooding, one can get the idea of what it looked like. Fascinating. Thank you for watching 😊
Sadly as locals will tell you they moved out of the town if they can, due to its mass of tourist shops, selling what can only be described as the glastonbury fashion clothing. It has very few shops selling what you really might need. It has been like that since I was in my late teens, and I am now 68
@@SamWalksALot I noticed when I was working my way through your videos😭I’m surprised your channel isn’t growing faster,I’m pretty much a recluse because of health issues and only talk to about half a dozen people or I’d share them more🤣🙈
@@SamWalksALot I was in the military and served my last 6 month's on a Nato base in Naples. Every Friday it was Fish and chips night - cooked by mainly wives of the serving military. Lots of Italian lads doing national service. They wanted fish and chips and the 2 Monty Python Films. The search for the Holy Grail. The Life of Brian They loved it. Brits knew both films almost word for word so all in Italian.
They also had a Caribinneria officer a truly good man, terrified them - he truly looked after my lot after a Naples and Monsa football game - and Germen submarine officer who kept pouring alcohol on his tounge and lighting it.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! ☺️
Fascinating to think that the tor was once surrounded by lakes and marshland. Looks like you had a great day there. Another lovely video.
Thank you! From the top you see a lot of water, the area floods easily, it kind of gives an idea of how it must have looked. Amazing place.
Great adventure Sam!!!
It was! Thanks!

Thanks Oscar, no ghosts (at least today) but such a mystical place ✨️

Thanks David! Yes, I knew about the Thorn, but it's too early to flower and St John's was closed. An excuse to go back 😁
Never knew the hill with the tower was once surrounded by lakes and marshes. Another interesting video. Many thanks.

I can only imagine. I've been during the week, and it's not too bad, but weekends must be really awful...
Would love to you would make me laugh 😂 🎉probably as much! 😂🤓❤️👍🏴☠️
I went there years ago and sensed the ghosts.
Where?
@@SamWalksALot The abbey, lots of monks not surprisingly. I walked up to the tor later.

@richardprescott6322 that's really cool. I have to say, Monty Python humour doesn't translate very well in Italian 😅
They also had a Caribinneria officer a truly good man, terrified them - he truly looked after my lot after a Naples and Monsa football game - and Germen submarine officer who kept pouring alcohol on his tounge and lighting it.
@richardprescott6322 🤣🤣🤣 Got to say, despite the tough rep, most carabinieri are really cool 😎
