But She didn't love him back
When you think from Imhotep’s point of view, it’s actually sad. He did all that for the woman he loved, only to be abandoned by her. So what else did he have to live for? I totally understand why he allowed those people to drag him down to his death.

Sometimes when I look at the story from Imhotep’s perspective I feel sorta bad, he fell in love with someone who was forced to belong to the pharaoh and they tried everything to be together only for it to fail countless of times. This man literally ran into hell and back for her. I don’t like how at the end of the Mummy Returns she just leaves him cause there was nothing in their story that indicated she’d leave him like that. They should have just had them die together and be reunited as lovers in the afterlife.

I have literally grown up with these two movies, I’ve watched them soo many times I can’t even begin to count and I’ve introduced my nephew to them as well. Same with LOTR. This movie was soo good for its time, even now in the world of advanced CGI the mummies look real.

he kinda forgets about him and probably released him. even it's beni's fault for stealing many golds and accidentally puts all the heavy gold to the lever and activates the self-destruct and he plunging to his death.
I feel bad for Imhotep, all he wanted was to get his girl back, would do everything and not give up, even though he loved her more than she loved him and he was heartbroken at the end

Here's something that always bugged me. Why does he immediately regenerate into his third form in this one? In the first one, he starts as a skeleton, then regains his eyes and tongue along with some other pieces, then he starts looking more like a decayed human after finishing off Burns. Here, he instantly regenerates back to how he looks after absorbing Burns

This movie is pretty much just as good as the first one. It’s so cool watching Imhotep’s regeneration. 2:14 to 2:20
I only have two complaints about this movie as a whole. 1, we sadly didn’t get to see Imhotep fight the Scorpion King with his powers. And 2, the Scorpion King is obviously CGI when Imhotep and Rick fight him.

2:21 is Imhotep's original creepy skeleton from the original movie I'm not sure why he partly grows back some flesh should have kept the original skeleton looks more intimidating.

What I have always wanted to know is why on this awakening he partially regenerates....even though he hasnt consumed any other soul.... In the first movie he has to gain eyes and a tongue from awakening....and at the end we clearly see the eyes disappear from his sockets as he is taken back to the underworld in Hamunaptra
Idk maybe they chose better ritual for the second ressurection? Don't forget that in the first movie, she was just randomly reading lines from a book, it's even possible she missed some parts.
They probably cut down the time to regenerate as it took awhile for him to do so in the first film
To be fair, an entirely different spell was used here. It sounds different from the one in the 1st movie, it was chanted longer and by several people.

Why were random mummies just coming to life in the gallery all of a sudden? I also love how Imhotep wakes up and casually asks what year it is as if woke up from a nap and wasn't encased in resin while being tortured in the underworld needing a special resurrection spell to be used on him against all odds. Lol.
The invocation to awake Imhotep also awaken the mummies of the rest of the museum.

Imhotep sounds like the final boss voice for True Grand Demon (Chapter 20: Instant Carnage of regular Story Mode) and Death Void True Grand Demon (Chapter 100 of Nightmare Story Mode)
Was it ever explained how Imhotep skipped a level of his regeneration when he was resurrected?
I've wondered the same thing since I saw it as a kid. Never understood it
Because in the second film they hint that he died less time and without the cockroaches, so he would have more energy
I they did that to cut down time in the movie, it took him awhile to regenerate in the first film by consuming 4 bodies
It could been a successful resurrection. But it could be a possible side effect Hom dai too. Maybe both. Biggest theory on my mind is, being that he's cursed and already been rotted rapidly after he walked into that pool he only was able to regenerate because it was a proper resurrection
A different spell was used. It was chanted longer, by many people and the words appear different from the one in the first movie.

They should have allowed Imothep and his woman to survive as the end without the heros knowing about it, so everyone thinks they are dead, but they come back in the third film to face a bigger threat than Imothep.
