James Simpson-Daniel | Career Tribute | Farewell Sinbad

- Requested by Tom Farrow, Steve Davies and Tom Martin. A wonderful player who's career has sadly been cut down with injuries, leading to his retirement at 32. If it wasn't for his injuries, Simpson-Daniel would have gone on to become one of England's best. Apologies for the bad quality at points, footage was hard to come by. I know he had a lot of injuries, but still criminally overlooked by England. World class when fit.
the most wasted talent for England in the history of the sport. as a young child growing up watching him play every game until his last, i cant say there has been a more proficient player till this day. Every Gloucester fan loves you Sinbad, you are a living legend of this beautiful sport
Legend. should have had a long and illustrious England career. the selectors should hang their heads in shame.
giteausuperstar Nothing to do with selectors. His injury and illness problems are well documented.
Been a season ticket holder at Gloucester for 22 years - of all the great players we have had this guy is at the top - an honour to of watched him.
Fantastic video. Having played against James at school I can vouch for his natural ability and lightning fast mind, feet and hands. This video really shows off all that talent! 👏👌
Like Gatland said, if Sinbad was Welsh he would of had over 100 caps to his name
So true.
Fantastic player, will be missed in the Premiership. Also, as others have said, such a shame he never got more England time, his balance is on another level as was his timing when to go.
He had such a natural feel for the game. An amazing player.
grew up watching him! my hero
The best player I have ever watched at Kingsholm. Legend!
Seconded...
As a Gloucester fan I really appreciate this video. Top work man!
***** cheers man, glad you enjoyed it
England's answer to Cullen. A truly languid and mesmeric runner.
He should have played for england 100%, one of the greatest to ever grace the game. love you sinbad
An absolute genius sadly when fit, overlooked by England for much lesser talents.
he was injured or got injured every time he was picked TBH. Very unlucky
Sinbad and Hans Zimmer. Pure class.
I love watching clips of old school rugby where they wear actual rugby shirts and not colour coded condoms.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. If he wasn't English he'd be considered one of the greatest ever. So lucky to see him playing whilst growing up as a Glos fan
The way he read a game...superb...such a shame with his injuries...a one man club, respect, and I'm a Bath supporter
The one dislike is Lawrence Dallaglio.
lol
I've no links at all to Gloucester Rugby, but Sinbad was one of the greatest English wingers to have ever played the game. He ran like he was a stream of water. moving through chaotic rapids. He was was grace and eluviness personified. Physically smal, but a true giant to the fans who appreciated him. As stated by oters, he should have had scores more caps for his country and for the Lions. Great tribute.........
This is a great and fitting tribute well done
Calumistheguy thanks bud
A truly inspirational player
Sinbad was magical
Absolute legend
One of the most underrated players england have ever had
Such a pity he was injured so much. He deserved much more time in the white in a England jersey.
A Gloucester hero. We also didn't mind not sharing him with Englad...
Fantastic and really fitting tribute!
Wartortle thanks man!
Should have had many more caps. Still, he's got more than me!
Awesome, making lomu look a bit silly
Great video! It ties in well with my new video of jonny may sometime this week :) its such a shame i've been so busy lately with A levels especially because my teachers gives homework every lesson ffs!
thanks man, looking forward to that! Glad you're uploading again. Dude I'm in exactly the same position as you, it's a nightmare to get all the work done and have time to see friends and do these videos as well.
Criminal that he never got enough England caps.
Can you make a Semesa Rokoduguni tribute? Fijian born winger but can play for England, really inform so far in this season, likely gonna see him in England's back three for the World Cup
Oh what could have been.
Imagine the back line in 2003 if he was on the wing or in the centres
Could have been the English campo .shame about the injuries. He was a bit like Mat le tissier as he was so often overlooked .
Gloucester havent been the same since he retired
Great video!
Do you think you could do a samu mania one please?
Manoa*
And where do you find all these old clips?
Robert Morgan thanks man, I'll see what I can do. Aha, days of searching and researching on TH-cam and across the internet. It takes ages but it's good fun
Thanks.
Keep up the good work!
Should have had over 50 England caps was overlooked for inferior players
hes a bit like shane williams... just slightly slower... and not as good.... and not welsh...
Difficult to say. Shane always looked so quick because of his stumpy little legs. Sinbad was much taller. I'm sure if Brett Sinkinson and Shane Howarth can be Welsh, Sinbad could have a granny too.
Taller than Williams, faster than Williams better than williams and English
