Please stop comparing Mel and Lana. They are different people. Lana writes songs about past experiences and so does Mel but Mel created this whole new personna (CryBaby). Melanie is something we've never quite seen before. I love Lana but sometimes I feel like it sounds a lot like any other indie music today. And that's not Lana's fault because, I truly believe she was the first real indie artist to set the scene but now days with all these other artists it just seems so repetitive. Like you hear the same thing over and over again. Melanie is a breath of fresh air. You have to admit CryBaby is nothing that we've ever seen and nothing that anyone can copy because of the fact that it would be so blatantly obvious that they copied Mel. Just my opinion, I love Marina, Halsey, and Lana, but they are all so similar. Melanie however, is something fun and new.
