I was 9 when I first watched this film and spent years trying to find it again. Quite flawlessly a masterpiece. Gives me tears still, Elliot Spiers, Glenne Headley RIP. That's real filmmaking; simply telling a story that needs to be told.❤🙏🏼
I love this movie to this day. Gives me shivers thinking about it. It's rare to find a movie that scares the piss out of you but is also intensely heartwarming.
Just watched this as Candyman is one of my favourite movies. It was absolutely terrifying and I’m an adult, can’t believe children watched this id be traumatised! Fantastic film, really captures dreams visually and children’s drawings.
Always liked this film. Recently just discovered a BluRay is now widely available out of Germany for it so instantly picked it up. Glad to have it in HD now just a shame it's barebones but cool to find this interview here on TH-cam. Would love to hear from Charlotte Burke too though on her experiences of making the film.
i'm watching this because i liked the movie and really appreciate both charlotte's and elliot 's performances. there is no known interview from charlotte. she went do a lot physically in the movie and i wanted to hear about her experience. i looked up some information about this movie online. when it talked about elliot aka they noted he died at age 21 from illness. but bernard rose says, he committed suicide at age 17???? now, i don't know which to believe. suicide is not something to be made up of, so.....is the illness by cause of death a cover up? or did elliot attempt suicide at 17 and then got sick?
He became gravely ill from the side-effects of an anti-Malaria inoculation, which caused a decline in his mental health. He never fully recovered. On January 1994, while a patient of the psychiatric ward of the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, North London, Elliott Spiers took his own life. It remains unknown whether his death was a premeditated act on his part, or a consequence of involuntary actions brought on by his mental ill-health.
