The woman selling the rice dumpling in bamboo leaves was explaining the reason there're a lot of vegan shops was because of a great number of vegetarians going to the Santi Asoke Temple in the neighborhood. The Santi Asoke is another sect of Buddhism.

I've never been to the Santi Asoke, but I'd heard about the place. Vegan food is very delicious. Growing up in Bangkok, now I've lived in the US for years.

They also have a vegan canteen behind Bang Sue Junction, with a small grocery store as well. The food is incredibly affordable.

I think this is the same place OTR covered a while back.. Would you have a location for it? I didn't see one in the description. The rice dumplings look delicious. In Thai and Chinese vegetarian cooking there are a lot of mock meats.. they're usually some sort of tofu, but you will see them listed as "chicken" or "pork" on menus. I don't know if I would classify the cuisine as "vegan" , but it's definitely vegetarian. Sometimes they avoid onion and garlic.

You asked a lady why are so many vegetarian food service here the answer is this is one of a few community in Thailand that follow and practice real lord Buddha's teachings this people are vegetarian and they have their own food's raw materials all food that they sell are organics.

@@acrovoyage777 the only place in Bangkok is where you just visited and a fews more in provinces these communities call Ashoka if you have enough time you can visit the biggest of their community in north eastern of Thailand called ratchatani Ashoka.

I live close to Santiasoke but im not vegetarian. I always go buy brown rice which much cheaper than other markets.
You should try rice with curry there.
There is another vegetarian food court at the back of Bangsue junction or Thai people call Tuek Daeng (red building). This building is located the opposite of Jatujak market. You have to go there before noon time.

@@acrovoyage777 it called Chomrom Mungsawirat (vegetarian society). It is another branch of Santi Asoke.
It closed on Monday or when staffs have to join buddhism activities opened from 6 am to 2 pm. I recommend go before noon.
You can use MRT to Kampaengphet station exit 1 turn left and walk pass Bangsue Junction building. There will be small alley then walk at the back of this building.

Normally, Thai people do not dip their food in chili fish sauce. or the sauce like this We'll put the sauce on the food. Because we won't waste the food if it tastes not to us. And it's not too salty either. And if we are not familiar with the new and strange food that we ordered to try, We can control the amount of sauce we put in the food so that we can try it with this kind of sauce. How much sauce should you use to get and suitable for what we can eat

3 ไม้ 25 ซึ่งก็แปลว่าแม่ค้าเขาลดราคาลงให้ เพื่อที่จะขายในราคานี้ให้ลูกค้าได้กินของที่ราคาถูกลง ซึ่งมันก็ถูกอยู่แล้วนะคะ ประหยัดเงินไปได้ 5 บ. เพราะถ้าเป็นร้านอื่นปกติเขาขายราคานี้กัน
คือไม้ละ 10 บ. 3 ไม้ก็ต้องเป็น 30 บ.
