    • @MikeMurphyCo

      🙏 Thank you and much appreciated! This is a newer effect and think that is a bug that happens when you manually add line breaks (Enter/Return)
      The fix/workaround for multiple lines:
      Click T for Text Tool
      Drag out a Paragraph Box
      Type out the text, but do not add line breaks.
      You can change the size of the Text Box to manipulate the position of the lines.
      Add the Effect to the layer and the cursor should blink at the end of the paragraph. 👍

    Great tutorial! Is it possible to change only the thickness (and/or color) of the cursor, without changing the look of the whole font/text? My cursor is very thick, I would like it to be thinner and more elegant. I tried to add a new cursor-form in the dropdown menu, but couldn’t figure out how to do it… Thank you for your help!

    • @MikeMurphyCo
      @MikeMurphyCo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is not an 'easy' solution at this time and perhaps they update the preset in a future update to add some more customizations.
      My recommendation would be to play around with Text Animators in the Layers Panel. For example, if you add 'Fill Color...RGB' and change the Range Selector so that it only affects the last character, you will be able to change the color of the cursor.
      You can also try adding Scale in the same way as the Fill and unlink the Scale and make the cursor thinner.
      It may require some trickery and compromise to get it perfect, but could get you closer to what you want.
      Hope that helps. 👍

      Same here. When text has more than one line, after revealing the text, the cursor stops blinking. I guess it's a bug as the expression it's still working (alternating between 0 and 100) but the cursor is not disappearing anymore when the value is 100. This only applies when the text layer has more than one line and only after the reveal, before revealing, the cursors always blinks. My workaround was to have multiple one line text layers, but that's a headache.

    • @MikeMurphyCo
      @MikeMurphyCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sergiubrega The cursor blinks at the beginning (before first keyframe), reveals all lines of text and then blinks at the end (after 2nd keyframe).

    • @MikeMurphyCo
      @MikeMurphyCo  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unfortunately, I do believe that is a limitation of the Preset. It is likely you can find a workaround using Expressions, but I do not know of a good solution offhand.

      I’m not sure I understand what you are experiencing. Does it look different from what I show in the tutorial?

  • @brettarchibald3202
    @brettarchibald3202 ปีที่แล้ว

    When the whole animation has finished, I can’t see a way to make the text layer stay in place, but for the blinking cursor to disappear at the end.
    I have added a keyframe to uncheck the cursor when it has finished typing, but because my text is centred, then the text shifts position to account for the removed cursor.
    I also tried just making the cursor part transparent at the end, but that didn’t seem to work.
    Does anyone have any clues on how to do this? Thanks.

    • @MikeMurphyCo
      @MikeMurphyCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      One workaround is that you could just duplicate the layer and remove the effect one of the layers and place it just after the layer with animation.

    • @brettarchibald3202
      @brettarchibald3202 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MikeMurphyCo Thanks. I did that already - and then also had to zoom right in and shift the duplicated effectless-layer (without blinker) to perfectly match the placement of the effect-layer (with blinker). Ideally though, it would be preferable to just be able to turn the cursor off without the text shifting.

    • @MikeMurphyCo
      @MikeMurphyCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brettarchibald3202 There may be a script or expression out there that related to Aligning Text To Center, but the cursor is just another Text Character, so when it is removed, After Effects is just making sure the text is center aligned as it would anytime you remove a letter from text.

    • @brettarchibald3202
      @brettarchibald3202 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MikeMurphyCo Indeed, I understand WHY it happens when it’s removed, but it’s still frustrating, considering it’s supposed to emulating an effect that wouldn’t shift in reality. Anyway.
      It’s also odd that trying to set the cursor to transparent didn’t work for me? The UI was there for me to adjust the Opacity for it, but it had no effect. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?
