    I made a small quilt for my cat, it fits perfectly in his favorite cardboard box!

    That a really good idea Kris. My cousin runs a dog and cat rescue shelter and I have made dog coats but now this would be great for the cats. Light ones like this are great for our Brisbane summers. Even though cats like to snuggle up they don't need the warmth during summer. These would be ideal. Old cotton fabrics for summer and fur, polar fleece or flannelette for winter. Thanks for this one Kris.

      So happy it is helpful! These are fun to make and super easy. There really are not "rules" and it helps animals, too. I want to make some bigger ones for dogs.

    Love this , I have saved all my scraps in bags and can stuff it with those I think.

    Great point about not overstuffing! I’ve always used tons of stuffing because I liked the look. You made me see it from my dogs perspective. Great ah-ha moment. Thank you!

    • @SewtheDistance
      @SewtheDistance  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I made that mistake, too. I made a few pet beds and the pets hated them. Less stuffing seems to be the trick.

    Perfect pattern. Great way to up cycle fabric scaps I also use my old mattress cover top as a mattress for my dog, I cover it with ugly fabric as a duvet that I can remove and wash.

    We are definitely kindred spirits! I was thinking about doing a pet series!
    Dog collar and leash... pet mat to protect where pup sits on the couch! ❤️
    Love the video!

    This tutorial is so good! I sew cat dolls and try my hardest to run a very eco-friendly and sustainable business, and part of that involves keeping all scrap fabric out of landfills. I save all my tiny scraps and today made my first scrap fabric bed! I found a local shelter to donate them to and I'm so happy. I made this bed in just a few minutes. It's a great tutorial. Thank you for sharing this!

    I actually donate my scraps to a local shop owner who makes bet beds out of them. She uses donated upholstery fabric from a local awning shop among others. It’s a great way to give back to your community!

    When you wash these all the fabric screeches together. At least do some quilting to keep the fabric from clumping

      I’ve never experienced this issue with these, but I can see how it could happen. Thanks!
