by the time RCCL know about the problem the had to act fast so that is why they put it in freeport or the could of risk something happening in the middle of the ocean

I just got off Allure this past Sunday, it’s last Caribbean cruise before it’s multi million $$$ makeover...

Ohhhh buddy... but then Covid happened and postponed the heck out of that! I just got off of Allure 3 weeks ago and NOW it'll be getting that makeover come January, expected to be completed by April 2025. I must say though, the ship still looked spectacular through and through! If it weren't for the old-school iPod dock stations in the staterooms, I'd say it didn't need a remodel at all lol. But I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done.

@@man_on_wheelz I thought the area on the pool deck near the hot tubs needed a little bit of love. I agree with the iPod docks hopefully they do something about that. I’d imagine they are going to. The carpet and all the State rooms probably has to be replaced as well. Not sure if that’s on the list.

@@matthewwindisch9449 Between what I've read online and what the waiter at Johnny Rockets told me lol they'll be modernizing all the staterooms, doing some general refreshing, adding water slides, and adding panoramic staterooms where the sundeck is now. Gonna be a pretty hefty overhaul! When I was on it, besides some minor rust spots and no working light on my balcony (and the iPod stations) I really didn't have much to complain about. Perhaps they'd already touched some stuff up since that time you were on it.

Unfortunatelly the bearing broke again after the repair. I sailed on Allure in December 2014 and one of the azipods was broken resulting in some itinerary delays.

Supposedly it's having problems again now (8/17/2017) and is changing itinerary on future cruises because it can't sail fast enough to make it to the planned further ports.

Jack White, you are correct. We were on the ship when it sailed out of Fort Lauderdale on August 6th, 2017. Our itinerary was changed slightly as a result of the azipod issue.

In retrospect, as the Oasis of the Seas sinks, this was a bad idea.

Bearings do not mix with sea water. When a single azipod has about 20 MW power and you get even a little bit contaminants in the main bearing, it will get damaged really fast. The interesting part is how did they get contaminants in the main bearing in the first place? I would assume that they have water sensors below the azipod main bearing and pumps that can remove any water that's leaked in.
