Woodturning an oak sugar bowl.

- I turned this as part of sugar bowl and scoop demonstration. (The scoop is on a separate video - do check it out!).
The bowl and lid is turned from a piece of very well seasoned oak. I wanted it to look a bit 1950's flying saucer in style.
I don't like having to shove the sugar spoon deep into the sugar to allow it to poke out of a slot cut in the lid. So I fashioned the lid so that it provides a neat store for the scoop on the outside.
I use some home made Allen key tools to do the lid undercut and I also do a bit of texturing and gilding.
There are also have a few cock ups to overcome along the way....

Love the spoon and lid/spoon holder. Great project.
Thanks! Not seen the balancing act spoon anywhere else. Opens up lots of other design possibilities too!
Браво мастеру.
Шикарно. 👍👍👍👍👍
Keep it up
Great bowl and your narration explained really well all the processes, thanks for sharing.
I loved it and I totally agree with the spoon rest in the lid.
Many thanks!
Que buena pieza ... 👍👍👍
Nice project, Malcolm. Loved the revving on the opening credits, the allen key tools and groovy texturing!
Many thanks Stewart for the positive comments! No colouring though...☹️☹️!
Colouring might have messed your sugar up I suppose....
