- A time lapse of all the effort and the skill it takes to convert a Mini Cooper in to a B-spec race car. Compressed and edited for your viewing pleasure.
Still pictures were taken every 30 seconds, each fourth one was used to make a video sequence which in turn was speed up by 870% thus you can see over 100 hours of actual work flying by in just 4 minutes.

your shop looks way more organized than back in the day... cool build...
Yes, the entire car was wrapped around instead of painting. It's cleaner, easier to work with and allows some degree of playing around as opposed to using traditional paint. Thanks for watching!
Great video guys!!!
Anything for the video!
I never would have guessed the flat black was a vinyl wrap.
Great video! How many man-hours went into the build?
Dunno how I ended up here, but at least it was interesting. Is the entire car covered in vinyl or is that something else?
Over 140 man hours are shown here, plus 40 more for the gutting stage.
No front spitter!? Works wonders for handing!
I want to do the same to my r56 mini except keep the passenger seat.. What kind of coilovers did u guys use?
I did not notice any seam welding on the shell?
How much does it typically cost to build and run for a season(or however it works)? I know there's a 125hp limit but do they allow some modifications to get closer(exhaust, intake, cam, etc)? Just learned about this race series and would love to know more! Have an R50 mini myself.
Brian Witkowski Modifications? Hell yeah, you get 32 mm throttle body restrictor to and some extra weight to bring it to 2600lbs (with driver). Legal MIni Cooper B-Spec car makes around 75bhp at the wheel.
What engine did you guys put it?
Dhiaeddine Djabri Stock with 32 mm throttle body restrictor.
What steering boss did you use?
I feel like the muffler delete kit would make the mini slower since its losing back pressure, is this true?
It was a B-Spec car, no exhaust modifications allowed.
You said it cost you 15k all together..... Is that including the car itself?
I wish :-) but no, just parts and labour
Did you remove the underseal if there was any?
No
just curious, how much did the cage cost to make?
It is impossible to price just the cage, the whole build was roughly 15K
I doubt the bar above the dash was a good idea. It makes me almost sure you can see way less, as if you got it under the dash.
