- I spent the entire month of August searching for the "viral" Burlington Ghost just to stick it to these resellers. What item do you desperately want this year but can only find it upcharged online? Let me know in the comments!!

I really despise these resellers. They’re not true Halloween lovers. I have been consistent this year and have scored a number of things I missed out on last year. I’ve also left things behind. Sometimes you think you want something because you see it online over and over again and when you do find the thing it’s like “oh, I don’t really like it after all.” I know not everyone has the luxury of going out hunting everyday and I so wish I could trade with people. But yeah don’t give up and don’t give into the resellers. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor
You're so righttt. I ask myself often if I ACTUALLY want an item or if its just the hype. It's easy to get swept up in!

They really are. I hate that they created this demand and so its become competitive...

I think one of the biggest reasons for the desirability of these items (me included) is because they're seasonal items and it's not guaranteed that they will come back next year. It creates a manic scarcity mentality, which is exciting but also not super healthy! Haha
Some of these resellers in the wild make the simple act of shopping kind of miserable, too. I've come across tons of them intentionally blocking the aisles, crowding you away from the shelves, reaching across you to snatch things up, or refusing to let you pass. They get really territorial. They scope out what's in your cart, take their sweet time taking pictures or looking up items, or even listing things right there. It's so frustrating. I've even had people notice I wanted to look at something, look me dead in the eye, and then grab it to add to their pile. It's like a one-sided, cut-throat survivalist mentality or something. Like dude, it's just mass-produced ceramic. Calm down.

you are sooo right and lets not talk about how they treat employees. Basically accusing them of hiding stuff in the back and yelling at them!!!!
I found not one … but TWO of these cuties 2-3 weeks ago. I of course just bought one but I couldn’t believe it. And I actually almost didn’t go into the store. I was like I’m so tired of coming here. I don’t feel like going in and being disappointed, but I’m so glad I went. ( it’s next to a homegoods which I frequent almost every day before or after work that the employees know me now lol) and then two days later I somehow found the ghost that looks like him but is holding a pumpkin from marshals !! I’d never pay reseller prices. They take the fun out of Halloween hunting cuz you just know when you spot a reseller in the wild lol. But I have found all of my ISO’s this season including the Frankenstein bust & the gold horseman & the horseman with the light up pumpkin. I’m glad you found him !!

Thanks for the encouragement. I really really want that mr. Halloween retro radio and the resellers want $80-$90 for it! I'll just wait and keep looking. Hopefully I get it.

Most of these halloween items are barely worth retail or only worth it on sale. Thanks for showing this up close. I hate going to Burlington & as much as I wanted this ghost I only went a few times looking for it. After seeing the lack of quality I would have a hard time paying retail.
man, i remember when burlington used to be the more faux upscale place to go in my town, like a khols or macy's.. Ours closed a while ago and i hadnt realized itd gotten so bad.
that being said i did cave and buy a couple johanna parker pieces from resellers this year. theyre ones from older collections ive never even seen in stores, and i tried to get pieces that were only around $5-10 above retail price. still, frustrated by how reselling not only hurts the hunt, but can also over-inflate the appeal of certain items...
As an employee of Burlington, trust me we're scared too. Safety is an issue and alot of stores are struggling with upkeep due to short staffing 😅

Good luck with your hunt. I found two about three weeks ago. One from each of my two stores. The first one was left in the store after it fell over in my cart and actually broke. These are very brittle hollow plastic. I went to my second store and found another one. I am glad to have it for my ghost collection but I agree they are definitely not worth Mercari prices. For plastic they are fragile. And yes he was on my watch list and definitely not what I expected. I despise upsellers. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week. Cheryl

I didn't find the Burlington ghost and now I am glad that I did not, but I did find the one from TJMaxx that is similar and holds the light up pumpkin. He is very well made and is $29.99, he is large, heavy and very well made. At least you didn't pay the resellers price for him!!

Marshalls' now sells a version of this ghost and it's nicer than the Burlington ghost, as Marshalls ghost is holding a pumpkin.

I know how you feel, I have searched every store, over and over for the headless horseman on the horse and the white ghost with the lantern from Cracker Barrel. I want to give up looking but, I haven’t yet! Hate resellers, too!
I'm glad here in the UK the resellers are not a huge thing because this is ridiculous and totally ruins the halloween spirit for others

I feel like I have been really lucky this year, so far I've found the Headless Horseman figure at Tj.Maxx and the metal hanging bats from Ross and I wasn't even really looking for them. And I got the bride bust last year so unless something new comes up I feel pretty satisfied.

The resellers have gotten out of control!!! Someone actually has it listed on Mercari for $200!!! SMH!!! It’s disgusting!!! I wish someone would find a shit of them and list them on there for $10!!! But then they would just buy them and re-list them!!! LOL!!!

The real fomo I have is just not being in the US, we don't really celebrate halloween and the only decorations we have is some party supplies here and there 😢

I gave in last year and paid a reseller $200 for the ghost:( I wanted him so bad and the closest Burlington to me is 6 hours away and in another state. I had no chance of finding him in the wild. If I get the feeling that someone is a reseller now though, I won't buy from them. I don't need anything that bad.
Edit- Just wanted to add about the fomo part.. I follow these Halloween obsessed people on instagram and thats how it starts for me.. theyll post these beautiful pictures showing off their collections. I love ghosts and another one that was popular was that ghost in the cloche thing.. I saw him for the first time in the wild early July.. in the same city as the Burlington at Homegoods.. we also dont have a HGs in my state. I was so excited from afar but when I held it, it was really obnoxiously big, and cheap looking. I know the actual ghost is supposed to look vintage or whatever, but he just looked derpy and sloppily done. I passed on him and I have no regrets.

Congrats! I love him. (Now I'm regretting not stopping by a Burlington I passed the other day). I did buy one item from one of those resellers but the mark-up wasn't that bad. The resellers that resell for quadruple the price are joy thieves.

My Burlington is not even a year old and it's already a mess too. They are the Dollar General of discount stores. Don't see how they stay in business compared to TJ Maxx which is very organized.
I will do without before I buy from a reseller, especially for some ridiculous price like 3 or more times what the item costs, I wanted that ghost when he came out a couple of years ago and I'd still like to have him, but I would rather it take me several years than feed the reseller greed.
Also , my Burlington also always looks trashed lol it’s really sad !

This is where being a girl who can't stand trends and likes to have things nobody else does comes in handy. My favorite thing to do is find something I haven't seen anyone else have and Im turned off if I see something trending. Lol I know that makes me sound like a pick me but in this case I'll take that title happily. My favorite treasures are the things I don't see anyone else with, like my wooden carved Halloween clock that has little demons werewolves and monsters around the face. If people would stop posting their finds they would stop going viral and these resellers wouldn't know what to snatch up. I think I'm going to start buying things like this and making sure they get sold for their asking price
No matter how cute or how much I would want the ghost there’s no way I’d go to Burlington or would I pay the scalpers their high prices ! Both r disgusting! I overheard a women in line to get into Homegoods two years ago saying she payed for her Mercedes reselling Ray Dunn ! WHAT ?!? 😖

… and girl this is my first visit to your channel, first video I’ve watched of yours, and soon as you showed that cute ghost… I immediately ran to Mercari and bought the SOB for $86 dollars including the shipping. In the end with all the gas spent and multiple trips, you spent what the re-sellers are charging 🫢😬😉 🤷🏼♀️. Anyway, my hollow SOB ghost better not come broken in the mail. Thanks girl.
You would have a point if I didn’t have a Burlington right down the road from me and the far away ones I only checked out if I was passing through that area. But if I did live super far away it wouldn’t of made much sense you’re right lol

That level of customer service does not exist.
Some places you can have success with calling ahead and asking if they've got it in stock. But I think that's just smaller stores and local type stuff where that kind of customer service exists. Like big chains like a Burlington Coat Factory usually have automated messages with store hours and sales when you call and there's no direct line to the employees.
It depends! There's some stores that are super accommodating and will tell you exactly what they have and others where...no offense..but I don't really trust them 😆 And I'd rather just go and check myself, unless its super far away then I'll call.
