If you still have this and it's an 22R. I am noticing on mine, on top of the Carb the air cleaner... on the passenger side of the air-cleaner, next to the latch, there is a plastic nozzle (like 3/4" long) which would allow air to be sucked in the breather or blown out... on that nozzle it looks like a hose should go on that... I haven't found a TH-cam video nor a vacuum hose diagram which shows this port...? One video looked like it was capped off, others look like has a hose on it (though the videos aren't panning over enough to tell for certain, if it's even there, or where a hose would run too. Perhaps your truck has that, and you are able to name where it goes? Or maybe it is just supposed to stay open or maybe it is capped? Any clarity would be much appreciated... My '87 4x4 my dad gave to me, but in trying to get myself up to speed, I have noticed that many of the hoses are wrong... But seems to run pretty good, though they need to be corrected and hopefully might run a little better on various levels.... any thoughts? Thanks
I would gladly drive from ND to buy that engine off of you. Those things never die if you even began to care about maintenance with them. My father poked a hole in the upper part of an oil pan on an 82 4wd pickup and still made it home 5 miles. Put a new oil pan on itand we still drive it to this day though it's closer to half a million miles now.
Hey bud! Glad you finally got around to it! I may have another one or 2 for you. Come on back when you get thirsty and don't forget to bring a trike with you.

1:25 oh yes , these are the seasons til the wrench’s turn . It’s a purchase that is an exploration , these get gritty but once you get started and hear that motor run it’s full on .
Not at all surprising to be it started right up. My 88 4Runner is at 225k on the original powertrain and runs like a top. Just had the head rebuilt for valve seals while getting the head gasket replaced and man it just works.

So I'm in the process of parting it out and sprayed the plastic interior parts off outside before bringing them into my basement, and now one half of my basement smells like mouse piss.
22R was the last good engine toyota made. After that they went to the 22RE which was the crappy fuel injected model. I had both. I had the 22R in an 86 Celica and a 22RE in a 91 Tacoma. The truck got a few air leaks in the hoses and it was a pain to track them down. Then it would run rich. could never get it running right. But the celica kept right on going for years. Just more proof fuel injection was a mistake.
I like the 22R over 22RE because they're more reliability for slightly less power. 22RE's run great one day and then can have an electrical or fuel issue the next day and run awful. when something goes wrong on a 22r, it slowly gets worse over time so you have plenty of time to fix it.
22R-E is a great engine and EFI is always better than a carburetor. Especially as emissions tests get harder. People here in CA are having a tough time getting 22Rs to pass these days. Also, you did not have a 1991 “Tacoma”. They’re not Tacomas.
Bro some NEW, FRESH oil PRIOR to startup (was) required, not good at all for all the internal bearings, FYI oil does break down n lose its viscosity over the YEARS, oh & BTW remind me to NEVER EVER go live over there 🙄
Bought a brand new Chevy 1500 in 1991. NEVER AGAIN will I ever own another Chevy ! By the time that truck reached 150 thousand I had replaced the Water pump, Radiator, starter, instrument cluster x2, seat belt latch, alternator, belt tension pulley, Transmission, rear end seals, idler arm, and two front alignments because the front end was soo loose ! Chevrolet builds GARBAGE ! My 1999 Toyota however, at 130 thousand never required ANY new or replacement parts ! Toyotas just run, run and run !! I forbid my family from driving ANY GM products !!
My first two vehicles were Chevy and I learned a similar lesson. So many dumb things broke on them that I just got used to it and assumed it happened on all vehicles.
I have a 22R Toyota in my garage I got it from a guy 22 years ago I live here in Mobile Alabama the goddaughter wrecked his truck and he took the motor out of it it had 30,000 Mi on it you have a carburetor on the top

This is a little bit of an odd take, but you can think what you want, I guess. My 2002 4Runner with the 3.4 has 315k on it and it doesn't skip a beat.
22R-E is a great engine and EFI is always better than a carburetor. Especially as emissions tests get harder. People here in CA are having a tough time getting 22Rs to pass these days. Also, you did not have a 1991 “Tacoma”. They’re not Tacomas.
The Pre 83 was. 20R isn't too shabby.
Can I have the dash? Please thank you lol
You can't kill a Hilux!
Bro some NEW, FRESH oil PRIOR to startup (was) required, not good at all for all the internal bearings, FYI oil does break down n lose its viscosity over the YEARS, oh & BTW remind me to NEVER EVER go live over there 🙄

Toyota making cars for centuries.
Way too much rust for me...jc
too much for me too, the hammer test doesn't go well...
Fix it ,,, one day they will be gone ,,, what you have to pay for it $
@@randydepew888 Check out the next video where I tested the frame with a hammer... it crumbled away. Parts truck for sure.
@@6thGearGarage did you get the engine,,,?
@@randydepew888 Yeah I just sold it over the weekend
Those Ohio plates are the new ones issued in the last couple years. This video is so staged it’s not even funny
No, the “farm plates” came out in 2009 and were only issued for a few years because so many people hated them.
I have a 22R Toyota in my garage I got it from a guy 22 years ago I live here in Mobile Alabama the goddaughter wrecked his truck and he took the motor out of it it had 30,000 Mi on it you have a carburetor on the top
Next level patina got me this time! 😆😂
