Hey guys, thanks for watching so if you want a longer sleeve you can use 3 yards of fabric but for mine I used 2 yard and the sleeve is elbow length. (Please support the channel by subscribing, like and share my videos)
Just found Nelo yesterday by chance and she’s so good with explaining things precisely yet easy to understand. She’s my favourite channel. Thanks Nelo. You put the fun and sense back into sewing.
Thanks Mam for the teachings...it is well detailed. Please how do I know how to get the measurement for the body when making the bubu dress so that it won't be too big or too small when it is worn.
@steph_sommy & @toms9637 Just measure your body. However long you want your bubu that's how long your material needs to be, allowing for shoulder seams at top & hem line on bottom. Average would be 60" in length & you'd have plenty for even a half inch seam at shoulders & any size hem to have it fall where you like. If you want it exactly for your height measure from the top of your foot to the top of your shoulder. It'll probably be between 50 & 60 inches. After sewing & trying it on if it's too long you can always hem some more. Better to have more than too little. I hope this helps.
For the neckline, she used the centre fold (it was folded in 4), the first fold she made where she took the 2 yds and folded it in half and made the front and back at the shoulder. She then folded it once more making each (centre front and centre back). Using the centre front and back as her starting point, she went 5 or 5 1/2 inches along the shoulder for the width and right at the centre line she went down 2 inches. She then joined the 2 marks together for a boatneck. Now for the armholes, measuring down from the shoulder cut, ie. top of the 60 inch measure down 8 1/2 inches make a notch or a slit. The 60” has now become the length and the 1 yd the width. The notch marks the beginning of your sewing of the side seams. Before you sew your side seams, sew your two shoulder seams from the boatneck out to the armholes. The only thing I haven’t covered is the bias binding at the neckline. You can either use bias tape as a binding at the neck or make a facing to finish the neckline. Nelo, please tell me if I am leading everyone astray. I am a new sewer, but, you explain everything so well.
Wow wonderful,👌👌👌👌 I really like this video. This is look very beautiful. Your cutting and stitching very beautiful. You are very talented sister. May God bless you and all time happy your life. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💞💞💞💞

Thanks for sharing ma, am a beginner ma. What do you mean by over locking ? How do I do it? 2) am I supposed to sew the byass round the neck before joining the shoulder?

How about with elastic
Thank you Nelo for sharing, but I want to understand where exactly you opened up after marking Ur points
The only place I marked was the neckline and sleeve opening
For the neckline, she used the centre fold (it was folded in 4), the first fold she made where she took the 2 yds and folded it in half and made the front and back at the shoulder. What was the wideness of the dress
I used 2yrd
You didn’t show how u measured out ur shoulder
Take your measurement from your neck deep to wherever you want your sleeve to end
Please is it two yards or two trousers
2yards
Please how will i know the amount of fabric (in yards) to fold and measure for a particular size (small, medium, big)
Good evening ma, will I cut out of the side down up or it doesn't matter
Yes you have to cut if you feel it's too big for you otherwise leave it
Thank so much, but this dress only av length measurement
Wow I like your lessons
Good tutoring 👍
Nice one, I look forward to learning more from you
Ma you didn't show how you cut the arm hole, and what measurement did you use and close it?
I did
I am new at sewing and didn’t quite understand how to measure and cut for shoulder and arm openings. Could you please explain that to me? Many thanks!😊
From the shoulder line you mark 8.5 inches down that will be your hand opening.
Please what do you mean by using bias to turn the shoulder??
Thanks so much ma 😘
How to cut flayed gow
Please what if the person is plus size. How many yards do I need?
So I don't need to have a hip measurements??
Yes
Thanks for the lesson ma'am but you didn't show how you marked the shoulders and secondly for finishing, do I just sew without inputting measurements?
This is what I'm about to say 😢
Please how do I measure the wideness of the cloth
It's a free dress that can fit almost all size so you use from 2 yard above
Please how many yards can I use for a plus size
2 to 2 and half yard
But I don't know how u remove the hand
D measurements for the shoulder is what because u didn't markit
Pls for the joining ,is there any shaping of any kind except the joining u did by 1inches as in joining the front and back
It a Bubu dress no shaping
How many yard did u use
2
When marking the neck half of what you were not doing was not visible on screen, world have been helpful to adjust the camera to show fully what you were doing
Thank you ❤

How do u join the shoulders?...is it by over locking?
I sew then over lock
No Pattern drafting for this
I'm lost while watching this, cuz I'm not a free hand
Thnx bambi
I don’t really understand it ma
How can I help
Thanks for sharing ma, am a beginner ma. What do you mean by over locking ? How do I do it? 2) am I supposed to sew the byass round the neck before joining the shoulder?
To over lock means to weave, yes you can turn with bias before joining the shoulder or other way round
Thanks ma
😍
You are soo 👍
You are a good teacher
Thanks
Nice one
