Do you hear about GWAR's part in the Confederate Monuments controversy? Somebody in Richmond VA started a petition to replace the statue of Robert E. Lee with a statue of Oderus Urungus. Crazy part is, the got 10,000 signatures.
RIP Dave Brockie and Cory Smoot! I saw them live and got Oderus's autograph before the show. He pulled up in the decked out gwarmobile(it was a golf cart decorated in gore and viscera lol), chugged a Heineken, and screamed. My brother told me to ask him to bust out the cuttlefish, so I did and he grunted at me then pulled it up onto the table! Hahaha, something I'll remember for the rest of my life!
I took my daughter to her 1st GWAR concert! I’ve seen them several times. It’s interesting when people don’t recognize them outside of their “costumes” RIP Dave Brockie!
Fun Fact: GWAR ALWAYS did small venues for a reason. Made it more personal, and more of the audience can get involved. In their prime, they could sell out arenas, but chose not to. Kind of like Rocky Horror Picture Show. Audience involvement was part of their shows.
I met someone who lost their Mohawk at a gwar concert. The guy put a few hundred dollars worth of product into his hair. GWAR started blasting him with the blood hoses trying to mess up his hair. The force of the hoses caused his Mohawk to snap.
I love the whole concept of this TH-cam channel. These 2 sweet grannies reacting to music you'd never expect them to. But this video ! Gear was my jam I love these crazy goofballs and I love that the grannies are enjoying it too :)
Funny story - back in 2004 my old band opened for these guys, and I was very amazed when we came off stage at Electric Factory in Philly (one of the early shows in the tour), and there they were just hanging out sorta getting a glimpse of our set - in their street clothes, no costumes or makeup. It literally took them 10 minutes to throw all of that on and be ready for their show. I guess after 20 years you get a lot more efficient at it!
True story: Back in 91-ish I was in college and would compulsively watch the Live From Antarctica VHS any chance I got. I was a few years younger than my classmates as I finished high school at 16 in '89 and one time I actually booked an AV room to show them this amazing video. A couple of them stopped talking to me and others suggested I should attend therapy sessions as I was "too immature." These ladies are way cooler.
This was awesome! GWAR are very entertaining to see in concert. They are like watching a comic book being done live. There is usually a plot to their shows. They met when they were art students.
"These costumes gotta be hot!" According to every member of the band ever, the only thing more powerful than their live performances is the stench emanating from the costumes. They're not only quite hot inside, but very expensive (and thus not replaced often) and also extremely difficult to wash...
They fucking stink they really do I was a roadie for gwar in the early 90's imagine month old dumpster juice mixed with the stench of truck stop bathroom and gym locker room absolutely horrendous
So..this is a close out song. Gwar would play this as the last song of the night. It was Dave's favorite song... He's saying he is sick of the audience. 😜
They are visual artists as well, and make all the costumes and props themselves. Slave Pit is the artists side of the band(at one point in time there were around 23 members). Gor-Gor!
I'm subscribe to your channel. Still I'm amazed with what you two listen to. You had another fan talk about their granny but I have a similar story. My grandma and grandpa let me express my self when I was young. They told me when I was young to just be me. They sat in the living room enduring my music and never complained. They bought me a guitar and amp. And drums the next year. Music saved my life. And I thank them. R.i.p.
So glad you ladies did GWAR! Such a great episode! A fantastic GWAR performance is their performances on The A.V. Club! Primitive Man would be another great band to check out! The most heavy metal you will ever hear. #GrannySquad
I used to drum for a metal band here in Oklahoma City and we had the rare opportunity to open a show with Gwar once. Talk about a show. They spray fake blood among other things on the crowd. The wife and i were on the front row for their set. We were a mess afterward but it was totally worth the hour long shower it took to clean up afterward. Loved it.
I’m gonna send this to the guys. They will get such a kick out of this video. Y’all are so cute. Their such a fun band and super nice guys. They are so fun live to. You should look up their live shows. Gwar is such a blast...
I first saw them live 30 years ago, and then again 2 years later on the "America Must Be Destroyed Tour". I've seen a lot of bands but the performance in 1992 was probably the greatest music/theatre/metal show I've seen. Great reaction!
The best theatrical and original band of all time. Anything from bloody pit of horror, or lust in space. Both are albums. First time watching, and now subscribed.
I've hung out with and met pretty much every line up of gwar that I could..my mom went to the last gwar show in Seattle with us even.she was in the pit for it for about 20 mins and we were all holding her up.
GWAR never even crossed my mind but wow what a shout! Well done Granny Squad. My recommendation for today would have to be another System Of A Down song, 'Forest'. I have a feeling you ladies will fall in love with that song within seconds. I can't wait for the next upload. Keep rocking ladies. 🤘🏽
To answer your question, I think this was originally recorded back around 1990 for the album "Scumdogs of the Universe" (the band's second and arguably best album). I saw the tour including it back then, a show that turned out to be the first of many Gwar shows that I attended during the '90's.
alright having spent 3 hours in a mosh pit in Toronto at a GWAR show many moons ago (the show they lost their costumes at customs) and getting 7 colours of S kicked out of me in the process i wouldn't have guessed my first reaction video of them would be this. Rock on ladies.
Next time they do a show try to get a all access pass.you get to hang out with them and get killed on stage and a bunch of old school gwar stuff signed before the show that you bring!
I've seen every gwar show in Seattle since 95.this video of them gives me back chills of all the small club shows I've seen!you two should go to a show of theirs when the covid thing is over!
I've grown up listening to Gwar but they gave my all time favorite big band their first break by touring with Gwar; the band is Mushroomhead. You should really check out their song "Qwerty" they mastered that theatrical look and vibe while keeping a very good musical style.
GWAR took the KISS & Alice Cooper vibe to its extreme *well* before Slipknot ever even *thought* of putting on their masks!! When you're anonymous, you can be *anybody* you wanna be to deliver an ass-kicking performance!! Blessed Be, & Peace!!
Death piggy was their original band. They opened up for death piggy dressed in costumes low and behold the costume show was more popular, thus GWAR was born
Gwar been around since 1990! On an interesting song immortal corruptor by far one of my favorite songs by this band the lead singer of the band died a few years back they have a replacement now they're still around singing stuff
Some art students from vcu had a band called death piggy . another art student was trying to make a movie about aliens that come to earth and start a band and wanted death piggy to be that band . For fun they wore the costumes to their concert and way more people showed up so the kept the costumes .
I seen Gwar twice. The first time right after they lost Corey Smoot their guitarist and the second time after Dave Brockie died the lead singer aka Oderus. They are very satirical yet when tragedy hits them they take it hard. I tear up anytime I see Dave Brockie protraying Oderus and doing interviews. Gwar is awesome. You should watch Oderus read Good Night moon you'll laugh so hard you'll cry.
As Gwar fans and the future and current rulers of the world you have to adore and respect Slymenstra who made our whole human race. Slymenstra is the most amazing person
Gwar (Immortal Corruptor) Lead singer is Dave Brockie passed away a few years ago . Accidental overdose was said . Your son might know more . Met him a bunch times . Was cool when I talked to him. Later
Granny Haze and Nana King, I lost both of my grandmas within a week of each other 3 years ago. Please adopt me, I need two kick ass rockin grannies. I love your channel and reactions!
RIP Dave Brockie. I saw them live in '94 and it was one of the best shows i've ever seen. They must have used 55 gallons of blood in the first 5 minutes.
Grannies, the channel is great, love the reactions. Just wanted to say I was watching a couple of videos and noticed there is some waterfall like sound in the backgroung that you should check out
GWAR is an amazing band, unfortunately the original singer is not around any more. RIP Dave Brockie
And don’t forget their guitarist Cory Smoot, he passed in 2011. RIP Oderus and Flattus Maximus!
RIP oderous and flattus.. !!!
They aren't dead, they just went home.

I saw them live and got Oderus's autograph before the show. legends that will not be forgotten!
R.I.P. Dave Brockie AKA Oderus Urungus (vocalist) :(
You do know that oderus is from outer space.Dave is a filthy human. Also oderus's slave
Dave died, oderus went back among the stars bro. Dave was oderus's filthy human slave.
@@Postaldude2003i hope they had enough respect to bury him back at planet scumbag.
Best thing about being an 80s teen was getting to see GWAR live in concert once or twice a year.
Saw GWAR in1989 for the first time live - and I was impressed by the sweet and powerful voice of Oderus - just as you girls
Lol didn't expect Grannies would react to GWAR. Grannies getting closer to 90k now. Grannies GWAR ✊
I took my daughter to her 1st GWAR concert! I’ve seen them several times. It’s interesting when people don’t recognize them outside of their “costumes” RIP Dave Brockie!

Check out Gwar's cover of Wayward Son by Kansas.
please don't
I like the AV Undercover version, but the studio version is not too shabby.

GWAR will forever be amazing

GWAR for the win!
some of the band members met in film school where they were studying special effects. the concerts were an event.
To answer your question, I think this was originally recorded back around 1990 for the album "Scumdogs of the Universe" (the band's second and arguably best album). I saw the tour including it back then, a show that turned out to be the first of many Gwar shows that I attended during the '90's.
One of my favorite thrash/heavy metal bands ever
You guys will love Three Days Grace. Animal I Have Become, Never Too Late and Chalk Outline are some of their best work. Great reactions as always!
alright having spent 3 hours in a mosh pit in Toronto at a GWAR show many moons ago (the show they lost their costumes at customs) and getting 7 colours of S kicked out of me in the process i wouldn't have guessed my first reaction video of them would be this. Rock on ladies.
such a fun band live ... i went to A LOT of Dave's shows... LEGEND!!! RIP brother...

One of my favorite songs by GWAR ever!
Oh, please more GWAR! Love the channel.

I love these reactions because I get exposure to bands I would have not gotten into or newer bands that deserve to be heard
If I remember correctly there was information that GWAR members used to be doctors & lawyers and decided to form a band and not look back.
I think they need to do a complete watch of Phallus in Wonderland!
Death piggy was their original band. They opened up for death piggy dressed in costumes low and behold the costume show was more popular, thus GWAR was born
I am so tickled you girls checked out GWAR!
Gwar been around since 1990! On an interesting song immortal corruptor by far one of my favorite songs by this band the lead singer of the band died a few years back they have a replacement now they're still around singing stuff
