Paul Anka is a great song writer but in the case of My Way, he was not the composer. He was the lyricist, writing the English lyrics to a melody taken from a French song recorded by Claude Francois. Details from Wikipedia: "My Way" is set to the music of the French song "Comme d'habitude" composed and written by French songwriters Claude François and Jacques Revaux,[1][2] performed in 1967 by Claude François. Its English lyrics were written by Paul Anka and are unrelated to the original French song.

For those of you who do not know this, yes I LOVE this song and how Mr. Anka has translated it from French to English. He bought this song in France where it is called L`comme Habitude. So you own it now Mr Anka, but it is originally French. My fav song of all time
@@rocky01ist I'm not sure that I want to do that. The French lyrics are not bad, but they are not at the level of the Paul Anka's creation. A song becomes iconic when the music and the lyrics are so perfectly blended that they are definetly tied together. That is the way I see "My way".

That was so touchy... tears falling... 🥺
For those of you who do not know this, yes I LOVE this song and how Mr. Anka has translated it from French to English. He bought this song in France where it is called L`comme Habitude. So you own it now Mr Anka, but it is originally French. My fav song of all time
He bought the music. The lyrics are totally different and, it is my opinion, a lot better.
@@daniellevary7701 Would you translate it from French for me? :-)
@@rocky01ist I'm not sure that I want to do that. The French lyrics are not bad, but they are not at the level of the Paul Anka's creation. A song becomes iconic when the music and the lyrics are so perfectly blended that they are definetly tied together. That is the way I see "My way".
@@daniellevary7701 You talk against yourself. I would like to know the French version and the meaning of the words you say are much better. Paul Anka bought this song for less than nothing. If you know more than me, I have asked you to tell me and translate. This is my favorite song.
What a beautiful song!! We all did it our way.... lovely and meaningful words!!
You absolutely right Paul Anka is my favorite singer, i went to his Concert,he still very active even he is older guy.
Paul, a great composer dedicating this song he composed to HIM (THE GREATEST SINGER, MR FRANK SINATRA).
It's a Real Tribute to HIM. God bless Sinatra.
Paul Anka was my all time crust in the 60s, and always his songs are timeless.

My way was a originally a French song which the lyrics were re- written by Paul Anka.... masterfully
Amaizimg!!!
Class...pure class! If only we could experience the same in our present times😔
Thanks a lot ! Paul

Paul my fellow Canadian, you have a lifetime fan in me.
