- In this video, I show my oil painting process when doing a mastercopy portrait painting from Bouguereau. Bouguereau is my favorite old master artist to copy and I learn so much everytime I do it. I hope you can get some insight into my process and technique as you watch me paint this portrait. In real time, this took about 12 hours.

The skin is sonsmooth it almost looks like silicone. Reminds me of Bouguereau. Beautiful.

A great great copy. You seem to have mastered the style, but i wonder why in your own paintings the figures seem rubbery or computerized versions. You should paint more like this in your own paintings.

2. You apply paint evenly, but what kind of brush do you use and how do you use it to apply paint evenly?

Is it wet on wet?
The first layer is where he has gotten all his proportions down. Then I’m pretty sure he’s going wet on wet for the final rendering layer here.
What is the brand of your brushes?
