- Joey Bada$$’s debut mixtape 1999 dropped back in 2012 and its standout track “Survival Tactics” helped the then-teenage MC break into the hip-hop scene. The track features the late Capital STEEZ, and the two Pro Era members flex over production from Vin Skully. “Survival Tactics” has always been applauded for its nostalgic, boom-bap sounds, but it also marks a nostalgic moment for Joey in light of STEEZ’s tragic death.

When I first heard Survival Tactics I was out my mind. Then I paid attention to STEEZ's verse and I'm like how is he that young with that level knowledge to drop that verse so effortlessly. Joey was the leader but STEEZ was other-worldly. His entire mixtape has no skipables in my opinion.
And STEEZ created pro era
