    What's up Christopher? I've been looking at trying this lens for so long sitting on the fence. You're the first person I think, to do a proper review on TH-cam. I'm shooting micro 4/3, so I wonder if it being a little more zoomed out would not show the petals. I was looking for something to do landscapes with, but if as you say the edges are not to crisp it might be better to pass. Lenses are my favorite thing to review on my channel as well.

    • @ChristopherBurress
      @ChristopherBurress  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that with it being cropped in more on your MFT camera it should be good at F/8. But if you are planning on shooting low light or handheld you may want something a little sharper wide open. Its not a bad little lens.

    you do an awesome job with these random lens videos. really loved the telescope one but the cheap finds are super enjoyable to watch. if you're into it you should try random old minolta lenses, they're actually my favorite to shoot with on my a6500 :)

    it looks like the perfect lens for instagram 1:1 ratio. It creates awesome fish-eye images for cheap. but I'd prefer the samyang/rokinon 8mm for APS-C.

      Indeed those lenses would be a better choice for overall usability and quality, especially the f/2.8 from rokinon, but 70 bucks is hard to pass up.

    actually this lens rated for 4/3... thats why I hold back buying it... seems quite ok for the price... you can use hemi fisheye or other fisheye correction app..including one within acdsee ...and it quite good..

    • @ChristopherBurress
      @ChristopherBurress  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Arie Lendra Putra that's why there is such heavy vignetting because it is deigned for a smaller sensor.

    how do you monitor your video on the sony? I have the a6000 and it doesn't let me monitor from my phone on video mode.

    • @ChristopherBurress
      @ChristopherBurress  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Yemeni Food Channel I don't know what limitations the a6000 might have but i used my phone for a while. I just recently got a 7 inch external monitor that I hook up with an hdmi cable.

    • @yemenifoodchannel
      @yemenifoodchannel 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christopher Burress oh yea the external monitor will probably do the trick. I was tinkering with the play memories app and it allows you to mirror the screen but only for photos and only in certain photo modes.

    @SamHakes 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    so what's the deal with the a6500 cropping in at 4K? Don't most cameras do the opposite - crop in for HD? Also I thought they said there was "no pixel binning" so you were actually shooting a 6K image across the whole sensor and downsizing that to 4K. This video has me confused in my understanding now. Can you please explain? Thanks!

    • @ChristopherBurress
      @ChristopherBurress  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that the "No pixel binning" thing is probably only for 4k 24p. because there is no crop when you shoot at 4k 24p. I think that full 6k image at 30fps must have just been a little too much for the processor.

    • @SamHakes
      @SamHakes 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for the reply! So if you shoot at 4K 24p it will look the same as HD as far as crop goes? Why wouldn't you always be shooting in that? seems like it would be a much better image!

    • @ChristopherBurress
      @ChristopherBurress  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ever since this video i started shooting in 24p for that very reason! All of my ireland trip vlogs were shot in 24p to make the most of the 10-18mm lens.

    • @SamHakes
      @SamHakes 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! I like the look of 24p better than 30 myself or 60 for slowmo. I've been shooting on the a6000 for years and I'm excited because it's almost broken now so need to upgrade!! While I got your attention I noticed you don't have any ads before your videos - seems like you'd make some more cash if you did that and I for one wouldn't mind it... best of luck.

    • @ChristopherBurress
      @ChristopherBurress  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m confused, did you try this with 4k 24p? You say it crops in but it doesn’t at 24p and that’s all I shoot...does this lens show the Lens Hood at 4k 24p?

    • @ChristopherBurress
      @ChristopherBurress  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      At the time I didn't shoot in 24p and didn't realize that it didn't crop in that mode. Your 4k 24p should look just like the 1080p example in this video.

      Is that good for startup photography rather then 80d canon?

    • @ChristopherBurress
      @ChristopherBurress  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are really very similar. I prefer the a6500 because I can adapt any lens to it and enjoy vintage glass as well as it being smaller and more video capabilities. The 80d will have better battery life and canon has some great lenses.

    • @nisargchauhan6595
      @nisargchauhan6595 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What if i buy a sony hx400v for initial stage?

    • @ChristopherBurress
      @ChristopherBurress  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That won't be a bad choice and will definitely be cheaper. I think the crazy super zoom point and shoots are a little ridiculous and I would rather have a larger sensor, even a micro 4/3 sensor is huge compared to what's in the point and shoot. I think that the sensor in the galaxy S8 is actually bigger than what's in it as well....

  • @amanieux
    @amanieux 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    why dont you shoot your 4k on a6500 at 25p instead of 30p, you wont have this 1.23 crop and you get a better image as the 4k@25p is downsampled from 6k - other point comparison with gopro was very interesting, thanks - but for a for a fair comparison of field of vierw, on gopro you have a wider superview mode that should be as wide as this 8mm on your aps-c.

    • @ChristopherBurress
      @ChristopherBurress  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought the superview on gopro just stretched the edges and gave it a different look for forward moving action.

    • @amanieux
      @amanieux 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      well from what i read, go pro 1/2.3" sensor is 5.5x crop and the lens is 2.5mm so it should be around 8mm equivalent on aps-c (here is the data i got : Ultrawide = 170° = ~12mm in 35mm equivalent Medium = 120° = ~17mm in 35mm equivalent Narrow = 85° = ~24mm in 35mm equivalent) - thanks again for this aps-c/gopro comparison for fisheye, it is rare to see this kind of usefull comparison.

    • @ChristopherBurress
      @ChristopherBurress  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem for the comparison! It was just the only other fisheye I had. But I just tested out the superview and it looks like it got about 15% of the way closer to as wide as this little 8mm, but still was a ways away from being just as wide. So it was indeed wider, but not wide enough to call it the same. (for reference I would say that superview would get 2/3rds of the first window in frame, if compared to my test in the video)
