For $40 on eBay, not a bad deal. There’s no “pancake lenses” on Sony full frame, so this isn’t bad for fun shots. Wouldn’t use it for astrophotography or the zoo where I want 300mm, but for a fun day at the park where you want to pocket the A7c? Sure. It’s a lomography lens, “perfect” isn’t always art ✔
Good review :) But you missed one big issue with using the phone: Google gets to rifle through every picture and video you take AND track exactly where you are and recognizes everyone you run into. I generally avoid bringing my phone, let alone using it to take pictures. A proper camera can still provide the privacy I insist on having...
Alright - I stick to my point: Anything I see as an "Ad" on Facebook, Instagram or TH-cam, I skip. Because honorable products would not need to advertise in these spaces and "cram past" general Adblocks. Thanks for the Video Chris - Keep it up. Glad you're back in swing. Cheers,
Bro i bought sony a 7iii just 1 week ago with sony 85mm f1.8 lens. But i need to buy another lens for short distance photography and landscape photography as well. Can you suggest me any lens under 250 USD for doing my desired things.
I know this is stretching it and takes the whole minimalist super small form factor away but "Extension Tubes" could they possibly give it something.....anything redeeming.
So this lens kind of is a sensor cover that doubles as a lens, just in case. This lens looks to be useless. This lens looks like it's made for people who got ''too good camera''. Only advantage I see is squeezing the camera into a tight place or trough something awkward. But with this quality, might as well use a phone.
I can't believe you paid $150 for this piece of junk. I've hacked several 35 mm point and shoot lenses and made my own adapter and those cameras cost me about a few bucks and they're way way way better than this.
They should market this as a body cap replacement. Basically an extra lens that's always with you if you use body caps.
I imagine this lens is for creating a vintage black and white look. They probably use recycled glass for the lens.

Wow, I had high hopes in the beginning. Seemed like it would be pretty solid for at least *something*
The rich people's lens cap.
What a shame! That would be a cool lens to have as a sensor cap instead of a chunk of plastic, if it was cheaper and took slightly better shots :P
In a perfect world lol
With older lenses, and apparently this one too, I like to shoot in Vivid.
The only benefit of this lens it won’t brake when you drop it as long as it’s attached to a camera with a grip.
Your camera will break instead lol
I thought this lens was made specifically to replicate that '70s 110 look.
You can adapt the 110 lenses to e mount. I actually have one of them.
Good review :)

Might be worth getting if you want to emulate an old vhs tape without post editing while recording in 8k...
The pixel gods would be crying at the wasted resolution of shooting this lens in 8k.
What camera, lens and lighting do you have in this video pls?
I believe the sony a7iii or the a6500 and a falconeyes rx series flexible led light.
Let's make pictures with full frame that would look much worse than a smartphone from 2010 :)
I wonder what a low ISO long exposure shot looks like.
Probably out of focus lol. I should have tried one of those though.

Spot on!
Good timing at 0:24.
Which is the better lens 18 mm body cap Olympus or the 18 mm body cap Artisans lens ?
Great video! Interesting lens. Never seen any lens this thin before. But quality is not good.
You know what they say its not about the size but the performance 😉
dang. its only MIRRORLESS FF Grrrr I wanted to stuff one on my 5ds for shits and giggles :-)
Great video👍
7artisans photoelectric 18mm f6.3 ufo lens $69: does it suck? worthy of testing based on price.
I have it, and I think I will use it to take it everywhere and try some lomography...

... Using it as a lense... Jeah not really, but as a body cap ... Instead of the plastic one ? If not for the price it would be an awesome gimmic

I would recommend the rokinon 18mm or 35mm f/2.8, both reasonable prices and great performers.
@@ChristopherBurress bro thanks. But what about under 400 USD??
Its better than a lens cap!

That could be interesting. Macro with this little guy.... Hmmm.
This is just a disposable camera lens in a nice lens body.
Being completely honest, I wouldn't buy it eve if it was $15.
I bought it so you know not to lol.
@@ChristopherBurress and we, subscribers, appreciate that. I still left a like on the video.
@@ChristopherBurress THANK YOU!
Christopher always different with others.
I hope that's a good thing.
@@ChristopherBurress yes sure a good thing, i always waiting your video especially lens review.

Yeah its totally useless, offers no advantage over a phone unfortunately. And I had to buy it full price! Lol
Turn a body cap into a pinhole lens; spend the savings on something worthwhile.
it's a niche lens -
Great video, terrible lens.
it remains me that Olympus one. Sure olympus one is way better.

It indeed was garbage.
I think $15 for this lens would be reasonable price. My years old $120 Samsung phone takes better photos than this.
Agreed, it's size is completely negated when you can carry around litterally nothing other than your phone and get better photos.
Pay attention Funleader sells defective lenses and after they refuse to repair or replace them, avoid this brand
Lol did you accidentally call it a lens cap 🤣
F8 what the hell, Throw that lens in the 🚽
