Hi Carole, thank you for sharing your get together with Katinka, I can see that it was a lot of fun moments 😊😊😊. Your dress is beautiful, you have to look great in the happy and sad moments 👏👏👏👍👍👍. Have a great weekend 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
Thanks Karen for your kind words. My Aunt loved blue so I am hoping that she would have appreciated my dress. I don't often go anywhere 'smart' so I had no choice but to make something and then I had to dig out some shoes from the back of the wardrobe 🤣. Katinka was just the most special person, I feel so honoured she came to visit. Have a wonderful weekend 😊🧵
Hi Annette, oh yes, this sewing community is the best isn't it? To meet Katinka was just amazing as she is such a positive lady and very talented. Have a good weekend 🧵😊
Thanks Robyn, I count myself so lucky that I got to meet her. It's funny as when I was editing my video I realised that the trousers are ok! Have a good weekend 🧵😊
Thank you so much for having me. I truly loved spending time with you. I had such a giggle when you spoke about the "lesson". The dress looks so lovely on you. Love the T! My goodness! You made so many lovely things!
My absolute pleasure!! I do hope you enjoyed the rest of your tour of the South Coast and safe travels back to Norfolk. We may cross paths as I head up that way 😂. Thank you so much for popping by xxxx
Carole, I’m so very sorry for the loss of your Aunt, you have my sincere condolences. The dress you made for her funeral is beautiful and looks great on you. You did an excellent job on the striped T-shirt, great job matching! I think it would look so cute paired with a denim skirt. I love the notebook cover, I have some in mind for the little girls in my life. Andra did a wonderful job with her tutorial, I love watching her channel, she’s such a great lady. Katinka is so talented, and a lovely person, she looks like such fun. I love her channel. Take care
Thank you so much for your kind words Sue. I am yet to start on that denim skirt but I think you are right on matching it with the striped top, lets see! Andra is so innovative with her channel isn't she and just such a talented lady. Katinka was indeed such fun and oozes life and positivity, I count myself very fortunate to have met her in real life. Hope you have a good weekend and week ahead 🧵😊
Hi Ruan! You are so right, when we get to meet our sewing buddies in real life it is amazing. Time just flies! One day hopefully I will make it 'up North' to meet you all 😊💗
Thanks for another great vlog.. your dress is lovely..The books are too cute. The t-shirt is perfect. Your future projects look like fun.. have a great week..
How wonderful that you and Katinka got to meet and that you had such a lovely time! I’m really sorry about your aunt. The dress you made for the funeral is stunning. I really love that style on you. You did a fabulous job with the striped tee and the pants are super nice! Thank you for the pictures at the end. You and Katie looked so cute all in pink! 💞
Thank you Izzy for your kind words. I am pleased with that dress and I had to dig some old shoes out for it, after watching your video I thought that was hilarious when you talked about shoes 😂. I gave myself a pat on the back for that striped t shirt, if it was wrong, wow would people notice! If you get the chance to see the Barbie Movie it is actually really good with a strong message behind it, not as silly and fluffy as I thought it would be! Have a great weekend 🧵😊xxxxx
What a blessing to both you and Katinka to be able to meet up in person. The moment I watched Katinka’s first vlog, I knew she was extra special. I could listen to her talk all day. And, her smile! You had a very productive sewing week. I’m envious. I’ve had very little time to sew plus I broke my patella so now I do have time but I can’t sit down to sew. I live my sewing life through TH-cam sewists.
That smile of hers! Katinka just lights up a room and loves life so much, it is wonderful to be with her. How on earth did you break your patella? That sounds so painful, I am so sorry! I imagine it is a long road to recovery and I hope you can get Physical Therapy to help you on your way. Sending healing hugs xx
Such lovely photos of your meetup with Katinka. My condolences on the loss of your auntie. You and Katie look amazing dressed up for the Barbie movie! She is so gorgeous. Can't wait to see the knit dress; very interested in that one!
Thank you so much for your kind words about my Aunt. Katie and I just had to wear our pink linen trousers didn't we and we weren't the only ones in pink thank goodness! I am hoping Jen gets to finish the dress before me so I can hear how she gets on 😂. Thanks for watching and enjoy your weekend 🧵😊
Thank you so much Carol! That is the reassurance I needed. Sometimes I spend longer trying to decide the length of something than actually sewing the garment 😆. Have a wonderful weekend 😊🧵
So many lovely makes and I am looking forward to seeing your plans come to fruition. YOU LUCKY DUCKY!!!! YOU GOT TO MEET KATINKA! ;) How wonderful! Enjoy your vacation.
Carole, I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your Aunt. The dress you made looks so nice on you. I've never seen that pattern. I absolutely love the striped T!! Wow great job on the V neck too! PERFECTION. Also the trousers are beautiful! I love your collab blouse with the ties. I used to own a blouse with the ties on the shoulder too when I was in high school. LOL You reminded me of that. So nice to see you and Katinka together. How wonderful! I hope you complete your sewing goals! Happy sewing!! 🪡❤❤❤
Thank you Grace for your kind words. I am pleased with the dress but the only reason I had the pattern was that is was free with the magasine I used to have, sadly discontinued. The tied shoulder detail was quite a thing in the 70's and 80's wasn't it, we should definitely bring that back 🤣. It was fantastic to meet Katinka another sewing buddy in real life just as it was to meet you this year 🥰 Hope you have a sewing filled week ahead xx😘
@@socarole66 Carole, I have an old Kwik Sew K4244 that has the same tie detail as your top. This is a knit. Also McCalls has a pattern with 4 ties M8344. I may try the Kwik Sew. It was a joy to meet you at the EXPO. I hope to see you again! 🥰 Have a great week of sewing!! 🪡😘❤❤
Well hello !! It was wonderful to see Katinka this week and now I have another South African Sewing friend! Thank you so much for finding me and watching 😊🧵
What a wonderful meet-up you had with Katinka! AND she gave you a demo on how to do a curved hem? She has so much sewing skill and talent. You did a nice change to the dress you're going to be wearing. I like the sleeves you did uch better than what the original pattern showed. Sorry to hear about your Aunt. She lived through some amazing decades in history! Sounds like you're going to have a busy week of sewing...Happy Sewing!!
Deb she was just wonderful. She just wants so desperately to pass on all her sewing knowledge and she also gave me tips for the lighting in my room which was amazing! I need her to visit every week 😂. Those sleeves on that dress were just HUGE, as you say, they are much better a more normal length! Thanks for watching and have a good weekend xx🧵😊
I enjoyed watching your channel and I love your sewing projects, nothing but wonderful things about you from Jen,Michelle Grace and sewists from all over. You inspired me with gift giving individual wrapped. You are so kind! I'm just a newbie but learning so much it gets overwhelming. Again thank you for #friday sews
Oh thank you Brenda. That is such a kind comment and means so much to me. I just love sewing and always have so if I can make someone something from my hobby I jump at the chance! It gives me an excuse to sew 😂. If you ever feel overwhelmed just stick to what you know. I always make a tried and true after a complicated item, it renews the faith in myself that I can actually sew! Thanks again and have a wonderful weekend 😊🧵
How nice to get to meet a fellow sewist/you tuber! She sounds like a real treasure. 😊 So sorry to hear of your aunt's passing. Your dress is so pretty. All the makes turned out so well. I have been wanting to make a striped t-shirt like the one you made. Bravo on getting the placement of the stripe for the neck in the perfect place. 👏👏 The month of August and first of September are full of birthdays in our family. All 4 of my grandbabies. I have been making shark hooded towels for 2 of the brothers and starting on doll diapers, wipes and a diaper bag for the little girl. We are taking the oldest boy on a train ride. He is ALL about trains.😁 Have a great weekend!
Hi Katrina, thank you for all your kind and lovely comments. You certainly seem to have a busy couple of months coming up and I am intrigued by a doll diaper?! I almost took my Grandsons on a steam train on Thursday then decided to wait another year as the littlest one is only 2 1/2. Hope you have a fantastic time with your oldest GS. Happy weekend! 🚂🧵😊
I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your aunt. The dress you made for her funeral is stunning. Love the T-shirt and the pants. What a wonderful visit you were able to have with Katinka. Enjoy your holiday.
Thank you Carol, I am pleased with how the dress came out and she loved blue so it is perfect. It was so wonderful as you say to meet up with Katinka. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
I am so sorry about your aunt. As always all of your makes came out Fabulous!!! That is so awesome that you got to meet Katinka! This community really is great, I enjoy watching all of the videos! I attempted to make a friday sews video last night, and I thought I just looked SO grumpy, lol. I will make another attempt..I would love to be able to yap on and on about my sewing to SOME one who gets it! Have a great weekend!🥰
Thank you for your kind words. This community really is the best, I have met some wonderful people and chatted with some lovely online friends like yourself. Sorry to hear you didn't like your first 'take' of Friday Sews but if you want a laugh go back and watch my first one 🤣, in fact most TH-camrs first ones are painful! Please please let me know if you manage to film one, you won't regret it I promise 😘
Hi, Carol! All of your makes a beautiful! I wanna make one of those composition notebook covers because of I have plenty of Composition notebooks.😊 Have a blessed weekend.😊
Thanks Zelda, I had no idea what a composition notebook was until Andra told me. We call them 'Exercise Books' over here but I like being 'all American' at times 😂. xx
I am so sorry for your loss. Your dress is beautiful, and it looks great on you. I have the same New Look pattern you have and made my top white with navy stripes also. I made it to wear with a navy skirt using Simplicity 2184. Both are great patterns, and I was so proud of myself for matching all my strips. Like you I saw Jen's plans to make the dress 6626. I have this pattern also and decided I was going to wait to see her make before I made one for my daughter. I enjoy all the Friday sews and look forward to your videos each week. What a treat it must be to meet some of the sewist in person. I will probably never have that opportunity so I will continue to enjoy the youtube channels. Your pants look very comfortable.
Thank you very much Pamela for your kind words. I have just looked at 2184 and yes, that looks like a very flattering skirt pattern, that Navy stripe Top must look really smart with that. I have just cut out that dress and it seems nice and easy, very few pieces so should be a quick sew. The finished measurements look quite tight though but I am using a viscose jersey. It is wonderful to meet with sewing friends in real life, I don't have anyone in my life that appreciates my hobby apart from all your lovely viewers and youtubers! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 😊🧵
The beauty of those covers will be we can slot in whatever he fancies. The cute thing is he pretends to write like Ollie and then when he gets bored he just draws his versions of snakes and sharks 😆. Lovely idea about the colouring book though, I might do another with Christmas fabric and a Christmas colouring book. Thanks for the inspiration! Have a wonderful weekend 😊🧵
I totally agree with you about meeting fellow sewists IRL! This community is the BEST! You had a productive week, Carole! I am so sorry about your aunt. The dress you made is beautiful! Fab job on the cargo pants and the Lutterloh top! Thank you so much for linking my tutorial for my notebook cover pattern! The one you made is adorable and the Lightning McQueen one will be adorable, also! I’m hope you have a wonderful holiday! 😘💗
It is just so wonderful when like minded people get together isn't it! Thanks for all your comments. I have now made the Lightning McQueen one and they love them, I managed to pop 4 pencils in each of the pockets which is perfect. Hopefully that may keep them amused if it rains on their camping trip. Thanks for watching 😘💖
Love your channel. Those pants with the pockets are fabulous. I might try that knit dress, the New Lok pattern. I have a bamboo knit and I find the bamboo tends to grow.
Aw thank you, comments like this really make me happy. I really do like that cargo trouser pattern and want to make some more for Autumn. Bamboo knit does tend to grow, I agree with you but it's so soft! Thanks so much for your kind comment and watching 🧵😊
Beautiful makes ! Can you maybe show how your friend showed you how to do thee curved hem trick please ,and the tie plackets please , I avoid them because they never turn up right ❤❤❤ thank you for your channel your amazing 🤩
Thank you! I will endeavour to try and show that hem yes, when I get back from holiday I may try that pattern again and see if I can remember what she did! Thanks for watching and being so kind 🧵😊
Lovely video as always. Sorry about your aunt's passing. That's nice that you honor her by making a special dress. I lovethe Mickey throw blanket behind you 😍. Regarding the shoulder placket that you mentioned, that is a great idea. I have a similar RTW top with grommets along the front and back shoulder and a tie comes together in a similar way that shoelaces would. I've thought of trying to clone the top but I think your method might be easier. I think the knit fabric you showed for a future dress might be a stretch cotton modal. Super comfy if it is.😉
Thank you Noemi, my Aunt loved blue so the dress I think will be perfect. I need to make a top now with those ties on the shoulders as when I just placed that top on my shoulders I liked the look of it!! Let me know how you get on if you do try it. Thanks for the heads up on the type of fabric. Have a good weekend 🧵😊
I’m sorry you have lost an aunt 💐 I have just lost my uncle but won’t be making a dress like you which is lovely 😍 the stripes were perfect in your top even bought tops aren’t as good 👍 love the book covers for the grand sons to have for their camping trip
Thank you Sandra that is very kind and can I also send my condolences to you too on the loss of your Uncle. 😘. My dress was just perfect so I was very happy, her favourite colour was blue so I hope she would have liked it. I was very chuffed as you can tell with the stripes! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment as always 🥰🧵
Hi Carole! Love your New Look V-neck tee! Mine was a stripe in the other color stripe, close to cranberry. Glad to hear you're giving the skirt a go as well, I love mine as it's a slimmer fit for an elastic waist garment. I haven't been wearing it, though, as I'm a smidge over 5'7" and it is really too short when I sit down. The skirt and the pants both have inseam pockets, and it's not something I would have added by myself haha. I think a square pocket on the back would look fine as well!
Oh a cranberry stripe top sounds lovely, I'm quite envious of that! I wore my skirt today and really happy with it, as you say though it is quite short and I'm 5'2", I wouldn't want it any shorter 🤣. It is a good shape though mid way between A line and straight. Thanks so much for your comment and watching 😊🧵
What a wonderful privilege to meet a dressmaker you've admired for a number of years! So glad you had such a lovely time, and to learn something from them about your shared craft makes your time extra special. Love your striped top! You absolutely nailed the neck binding and the stripe is perfectly center. The stripes matching up on the shoulders was a happy bonus. Well done!!! My condolences on the passing of your aunt. I don't know about you, but whenever I hear of someone I know of or a well known celebrity passing away, it reminds me of my own mortality. While I will be in heaven with my Lord and Savior one day, I do wonder how much time I have left on Earth. One just never knows. So much sewing to do, so little time! Your grandboys will really love their notebook covers. Andra's design was very well thought out! Question: I've been muddling in my head (while cleaning out and packing) changing up my pattern filing system and using your and Jen's system (after I move). In your pattern binders, how do you file pattern envelope covers that have multiple garments (top, dress, skirt, pants, jacket) in one pattern such as NL6623? Or do you have a special binder for coordinate patterns? Some patterns may have 2 to 4 garment pieces. I'm trying to wrap my head around how the system works. The envelopes that contain the pattern pieces are filed numerically regardless of pattern brand, which I get. Pattern books in JoAnn's list the same pattern in different garment sections. Do you make a copy or two (or more) of the pattern envelope so you can put them in other binders? Jen's video on this subject didn't mention much about this. As always, love your #FridaySews videos and photos afterward. They truly make my day! 🥰❤️ Have a wonderful holiday! Can't wait to see your photos. 😊
Hi Dori! Thanks for your lovely words re my Aunt. I would like to think I get to her ripe old age and am still sewing! We just have to treasure every day we are alive don't we and don't put things off. As you say though, there is never enough hours in the day or days in a week for all the things I want to do! Re the pattern filing system. You are exactly right on the Co-ordinates folder as that is where I put those types of patterns but when I am looking for a top for example I always forget to check that one as well. You are a genius in the fact I could just copy the pattern cover and put a duplicate in the Tops folder for example. Well done you!!!! 👏🏼Some of my patterns I have duplicates for so that solves it some of the time but some I don't! I do love my filing system and I am convinced it is the best system so thank you Jen! You are always so kind about my videos, thank you so much. Enjoy your weekend 💗x
Thanks for answering my question, Carole! Yes, I have some duplicate patterns, and will give some of them away or sell them on eBay. Just found a great YT channel for learning sewing tips and tricks from a professional tailor: Downtown Tailoring. If you don't know about this channel, give it a look. A lot of very good videos on various ways of sewing darts, sewing methods for knit fabrics, tailoring shorts from pants, etc. Have a wonderful weekend! 🥰@@socarole66

Thank you so much for your kind words and also for taking the time to comment. Enjoy your weekend 🧵😊
@@socarole66 Enjoy your holidays ! Stay safe 🌺
@@socarole66 and thank you 😊
Lovely video as always.
I love the look of that dress! We uploaded our first Friday Sews video today inspired by you! Look forward to seeing if you make that knit dress.
Thanks so much for your comment and I watched and commented on your wonderful first video. You were great! 🧵😊
@@socarole66 Thank you for your kind words.

Do a longer maxi denim skirt, very in style right now!!!
Oh how I would love to wear a denim maxi but being short, it may overwhelm me! I do admire them though 🧵😊
Great job on the stripped t shirt carol
Thanks, I was a little bit proud of that as you can tell! 😊🧵
I’m in the USA and don’t sew the “big 4 “ patterns, too hard to fit.
I admit the Big 4 sizing can be tricky at times! 🧵😊
